It's been exactly one week since my procedure at RESTORE. My journey began almost 7 years ago when I first thought about doing hair restoration for my receding hairline. I would look at websites, see commercials and get literature in the mail. I did nothing. I guess because of fear, maybe the old stigma. Finally, after a vacation that included an array of hats and hair products I decided when I return, I was going to take the next step. I was ready to do this for myself, I knew I wasn't my best self, I was aware my mood was affected by what I saw in the mirror..After researching I settled on RESTORE. My decision was based on several factors, the most important the Dr Farhan. He was highly recommended and had already done over 1,000 procedures. I made the call, visited with my consultant Jason and by the end of the meeting I was on the schedule in two weeks. I felt energized walking out that day.
The morning of the procedure, Ismal( the barber and assistant) meet me at the door of the clinic at 5:15am and from that moment until I walked out I felt I was in great hands. Everyone from Ismal, Jessica at the front and the two other female nurses that assisted were fantastic. They were comforting , professional and very attentive to my needs. Dr. Farhan was exceptional. He took me through the process step by step, answering all questions and always informing me of the next step. This was a fantastic well coordinated team. After harvesting the hair follicles they provided lunch before the final step, the placement.
The most common question nearly everyone asks, "did it hurt "? They are telling the truth, it was very minimal. The numbing medicine to the scalp consisted of approximately 10 shots that felt nothing more then a flu shot or having blood drawn. I took a ibuprofen when I got home and one more before bed and that was the last pain med I took. The post procedure protocols were easy to follow and happy to say on day 7, today, I washed my hair for the first time.
So what was the most difficult part of hair restoration? I would say two things, one going to the consult and BOOKING the procedure. Simply jumping over that hurdle. The second most difficult aspect was being out in public this past week and seeing my co-workers. A little kick to your self esteem. People will stare, however , a very valuable piece of advice that worked for me was around day 3... be open and out front with it. If someone asks , let them know you just had restoration. You can't hide it and you'll be amazed how many people are supportive. Women told me their husbands have talked about getting it done and some men have said " I need to get that done"! Bottom line it was not big of deal. If you had the luxury of taking 1-2 weeks off, it would be a piece of cake.
Finally, I highly recommend Restore for your hair restoration. Even though I have not seen the results my mood has been super positive. I'm so glad I did this for me. If you are considering the procedure I suggest don't wait.
