The private suite includes a sauna with customisable temperature and light settings, a vitamin C shower with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and cold plunge tub set at 50 degrees with a timer. The room also includes a tv you can set to relax or cast from your phone. A bench to dress or put your belongings. They also offer a lavender or eucalyptus cooling towel to use while in the sauna. At the end, you can dry your hair with Dyson hair dryers in a designated area. The rooms were beautiful with stone floors and walls. They felt welcoming and luxurious. I enjoyed my experience throughly. You are encouraged to do a rotation from sauna, to shower to cold plunge. I did this twice and lasted 3 minutes in the cold plunge tub. I will definitely be going again. Afterwards, my mood was lifted and I felt invigorated. There is definitely something to these contrast therapy treatments.

Tucked somewhat incongruously behind Shake Shack on the Post Road is Pinnacle Health and Fitness…read more It's an oasis of exercise and wellness right next to the local outpost of Danny Meyer's chain known for burgers, fries, and shakes. And while Shake Shack may the perfect fix for an occasional craving, Pinnacle is an excellent place to regularly treat your body well. Pinnacle is a private gym and fitness studio largely devoted to one-on-one training. Their staff of fitness professionals specialize in fitness training, pilates, and yoga. They are all experts in tailoring your personal training to your needs. If you want to get back into shape or prepare for an endurance event, they can work closely with you to meet your goals. Over the years that I have gone there, I have seen brides (and bride's mothers!) work to get in shape for their big day. I have also seen clients working to come back from an injury or illness make outstanding progress with help from the Pinnacle team. There are also many students athletes who have further refined their skills with training at Pinnacle. The best thing is that your training is focused on you and your needs. If you are intimidated by crowded big-box gyms, Pinnacle is the perfect spot to get comfortable with exercise and work towards your fitness goals. Pinnacle's clients range from teenagers to hearty nonagenarians and everyone in between. Regardless of age or fitness level, all clients are made to feel comfortable there. If you are unsure of how to get started, stop by and the friendly front desk staff can give you a tour of the facilities and discuss your needs. If you are focused on exercise, you may train with one of the personal trainers. If balance and flexibility are your goals, pilates and yoga are options for you. There are actually many clients who work with staff members in both areas. The facilities are the icing on the cake at Pinnacle. The main fitness room and the pilates/yoga studios are very well maintained and are never crowded. Also, the locker rooms are more like what you'd see at a spa with towels and grooming supplies. Perks include a small steam room for the guys and upscale products for the ladies. If you train at Pinnacle regularly, you can also work out there on your own without any monthly fees. Make 1849 Post Road East your destination for health and fitness. With some hard work and support from the folks at Pinnacle, you'll be looking and feeling better in no time. And then you can treat yourself once in a while to the food in the front the building. You may be so happy with your progress that you just might opt for healthier fare, but for the record, the vegetarian burger's pretty tasty! Full disclosure: I did work at Pinnacle for two months two years ago. I have, however, worked out with my Pinnacle trainer for ten years. I believe that both of my experiences have given me the perspective to speak to the high level of service and results seen at Pinnacle Health and Fitness.

Unfortunately, my labor/delivery Doula became unavailable and her backup was not around either. Franciska ended up picking me up from my home and taking me to the hospital as I was in active labor and I was alone (Due to unfortunate failures on the other doula's not affiliated with Fran). She stayed with me for a couple hours at the hospital while I was continuing to labor until a back up doula arrived. Her methods to sooth me during labor (without epidural) were very helpful. Franciska then returned a couple of days later on my day of discharge to take me and the baby home. She spent the next 8 weeks supporting us day and night. She set the bar so high that anybody else always fell short. My daughter and I adore Franciska. Her foods and snacks were delicious and it helped me significantly recover postpartum and while I was breast-feeding. She also paid very close attention to my health when my OB's dropped the ball on so many things. I ended up getting preeclampsia postpartum and if it wasn't for Franciska, I might've ended up hospitalized. Truly, owe my life to her! She is absolutely amazing!

My first pregnancy took place during COVID, so I didn't attend any classes or have a doula. For my second pregnancy, I knew I wanted a completely different experience--one where I felt informed, prepared, and supported. Fran exceeded all my expectations. She listened attentively to what would make me feel most comfortable and confident on delivery day, offering tailored guidance on preparatory exercises, essential information, and day-to-day tips for navigating the journey. Her expertise in birth preparation and support was invaluable, and her warm, compassionate approach made all the difference. I feel so fortunate to have had Fran by my side. I only wish I had worked with her during my first pregnancy! Any future pregnancies for myself or others would undoubtedly benefit from her outstanding doula services. I cannot recommend Fran highly enough.

Steam room is a nice touch as well. Cons: Quite expensive for what you get. I understand that the higher cost does help keep the crowds down, so maybe that's a plus. I'd gladly pay more to keep this place from becoming The Edge. The hours are pretty limited compared to any other gym I've been a member of. Closes at 8:30 on most days, like 6:30 on Fridays and around 2-3 on weekend. Overall I recommend this gym, but I think they need to revisit their amenities compared to the cost. Once the Equinox opens in Southport I think they're going to be in trouble unless they step their game up. They will have Equinoxs on either side of them (Darien and Southport) and those have much better amenities for almost the same price.

In regards to the woman who was asked to move from the front row and then proceeded to cry ageism and emotional distress, give me a break. Do yourself a favor and go to one of Marcello's classes, you'll sweat like crazy and have a huge smile on your face the whole time.
