From picking up the body to hosting the memorial service, they do it all. I flew in from California, and I noticed there are a lot of funeral homes in Jacksonville. I received a referral from a Firefighter Captain about this location. I was impressed when I entered the front door. I was relieved by Ms. Jamaica at the front desk. She helped me with everything. My dad was a veteran, so they helped me get a Color guard service at the national cemetery. Picked up the body from the hospital, express mailed my death certificates, they do it all. They have a beautiful facility, very nice and current. A lot of homes I visited, places look like they were stuck in the 60's. Lampkins-Patterson's has been recently remodeled and Nicely laid out. The dining area is great. Take advantage of their services , they are there to help. Say hello to Ms. Jamaica, when you walk in. She is amazing!

When my brother died, I expected support, compassion, or understanding. What I received instead was dismissiveness, impatience, and a complete lack of empathy. There was no effort to show kindness, no recognition of the gravity of the situation, and absolutely no respect for the emotional trauma I was enduring. We decided to have a viewing. We were given a time, we walked into the funeral home 10 minutes before our appointed time. It was deserted! We had to look for someone to help us. They kept us waiting, what seemed like forever! In the middle of one of the darkest times of my life all they managed to do was further traumatize all of us! Finally they bring my brother into the room on a sterile metal gurney, like my brother was a slab of meat, there was no attempt to cover the gurney. It was so disrespectful & hurtful, the emotions that Carmen his widow, his niece Missy, & I his sister endured wounded us even deeper. Being treated like that was a level of insensitivity I wouldn't wish on anyone. No one should have to go through such a devastating loss and be made to feel this way. Shame on those who chose cold efficiency over basic human compassion. You didn't just fail me--you dishonored my brother's memory.

They do everything in their power to satisfy your requests, wants or needs. They help you every step of the way. Not everyone is familiar with the planning process so just know you will be in good, I mean great hands when you unfortunately need to use their services. They have beautiful urns. The roots were deep here, you could feel it as you walked though the doors. The staff was on point, opening doors, quietly pointing you in the right direction. Soft spoken and reverent, it takes a special kind of person to work in this field. I somehow passed an invisible line, a point in my life where funerals had become more frequent and almost the norm. Her passing came as a complete shock and surprise to the entire family. It's taken me a while to be able to write this review and it's still difficult to do, so I'm going to try to make it a short one. I gave 3 stars because it is just "ok." Nothing more, nothing less. The funeral directors were very helpful with my husband's parents in making the arrangements. You can imagine the deep loss they felt (and still feel) at losing a child; making arrangements was not an easy task. This was also on Christmas Eve which also happens to be their wedding anniversary. There is not a separate viewing area from the room where the service is held. I felt this made things a bit cramped and made it difficult for people to come up and give their condolences to the family both before and after the service. The funeral home looks large from the outside, but once inside, it is actually rather small and there's not very much room to move about. My sister-in-law's service was a small, intimate one and there was still standing room only. This is definitely not the place to hold a large funeral because there just isn't room for large capacity. I was imagining the funerals for both of my grandmothers which were 3-4 times the size and neither of them could have possibly happened here. Immediately after the service as friends and non-immediate family were giving their condolences to the immediate family members in the front row, there was a door to the outside which the funeral directors were leading them through. I thought this to be rather odd because some of them were not ready to leave. They had to go back around the building from the outside (it was raining) and enter again from the front. My husband's youngest sister and I arranged the music together on my MacBook and burned a CD in addition to loading a playlist on my iPod. We were very pleased to learn upon arriving that they had an up-to-date sound system with an iPod dock so the music played easily throughout the entire funeral home. However, I was not pleased when the director would not return my iPod to me because I was not an immediate family member; yet, I was the one who gave it to him when I entered on my husband's arm with the immediate family early that morning and was introduced as his wife. I had to go fetch my husband to collect the iPod. My husband was also not pleased because he had to leave his parents and sister to do this mundane task. He asked the director, "Why wouldn't you return this to my wife?" The director told him he had forgotten I was his wife. It's been my experience that funeral directors remember the immediate family members and their spouses. Granted, they may not remember all names, but they do remember faces. In this case, they only had five faces to remember: My father-in-law's, my mother-in-law's, my sister-in-law's, my husband's, and mine. In the future, if I have to arrange a funeral, I would not use Cedar Bay. It has zero to do with the iPod. I would not use this funeral home because it is small, cramped, and I didn't care for the way they "exited" the friends and non-immediate family members. I still give them 3 stars because, overall, things went well. My husband's parents were pleased and they were treated very well. In the end, that's all that really matters.

This is one review I have put off and struggled to even write up about, only because it still hits…read moreclose to my heart and with the Holidays coming up, it is not going to be any easier knowing she is not going to be there.   My beloved Mother was laid to rest here at Jacksonville Memory Gardens on May 24th (2018). She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in 2017, and despite all attempted treatments, she eventually lost her battle with cancer. Truly one of the hardest, saddest days of my life.   Jacksonville Memory Gardens & Cemetery is comprised of 3 areas... the Cemetery of course, the Funeral Home and the Pre-planning center which is all located within the Cemetery.   Once learned of my mom's passing, we were connected with one of the Funeral Home Directors, Damon McLeod. Damon made the process so much easier for me, my Dad, my brothers and family in terms of what to expect and plan for regarding burials, services, etc. Damon happens to have many decades of experience and it showed. Damon did not leave one stone unturned. The Funeral home directors and staff worked well hand in hand, as one team. Major kudos to them.   Plot planning, we were connected with Mrs. Jay Jacobs. Jay guided us with the Grave Plaque selections and offered her valueable feedback as well. She was very nice, attentive and knowledgeable.   And as far as the Cemetery is concerned, per my observation, it is always well kept and maintained.
