The service was unrushed, yet very attentive. The food was so fresh. We highly recommend this great restaurant!

The cuisine was par excellence, the setting overlooking the Douro River superb and the hospitality and service unmatched. The baked cod melted in your mouth, the salad ever so fresh, the mushroom bread soup delicious. When we noted to the waiter a large pot delivered to the owner's table, we inquired as to its contents. We expected a simple answer, but the owner brought us a bowl of chicken, rice and sausage like we had never had before. For desert we had fresh pineapple with the chef's spices, quite different and refreshing. Anyone visiting the Douro Valley should make a plan to try the Douro In for lunch or dinner!

English a bit off but I appreciate that he is really trying. A lot better than my Portuguese. The fish steak was so so. It had good flavoring but I really wanted a more quality fish. I like that I was able to add a salad. I had a delicious coffee and pineapple soda which the waiter thought it was a sparkling drink as a translation. Somewhat similar but not quite the same. Coffee was very on-point and Porto Wine cake had a homey feel and was satisfyingly tasteful. I declined the bread since there is bread everywhere and I don't want too many carbohydrates. It probably cost extra. I tried to confirm with the waiter but I don't think he understood this nuance. He was also serving so many people with only one other person and this person was naturally better at serving more people at once than the other person but they both seemed very kind. On my way back to the hotel, I noticed a Quinta Da Foz and I wonder if these places are connected. Cais Da Foz did offer wine as an option.

What a terrible experience :(…read more We had been here before for a wine tasting and lunch and we had some family in town and decided to book again. We booked for 4 people and then when they emailed us back confirmation we saw that children were not allowed. So we called to change the booking from 4 people to 2 people so that myself and my wife could take our son to the nearby park. They refused to change it even though it had only been 30 minutes since we made the booking. They spent 10 minutes telling us they could not change the booking and instead offering to have us pay full price for our child to come. My wife was on the phone with them for 10 minutes and then I tried to talk to them and lost my temper due to the poor service. I am sorry I lost my temper. The hostess was quite dismissive and unhelpful. We were going to bring 5 people to your restaurant for lunch and just needed to change from 4 people to 2 people for the wine tasting after since you don't allow kids (which you only told us after we paid and booked). There are far friendlier and better places in the Douro river valley that do a better job. We will never come to this restaurant and winery again. Ben
