Located in Negrais, a small village outside of Sintra, which the locals go for their famous…read moresuckling pig. A long queue awaited us at this lovely, friendly restaurant, but a table became vacant quite quickly. Service was quick. For starters we had a the soft goats cheese with olives and bread. The goats cheese was very soft, and very much like tofu in texture and taste, i.e. very mild and no cheese taste at all. We ordered suckling pig for four and it came with peppercorn sauce, a bowl of saffron rice, salad and homemade potato crisps. The suckling pig was moist and the skin crispy, the homemade crisps were very more-ish, and the saffron rice and salad went really well with the meal. And washed this all down with a bottle of house sparkling wine. We finished the meal with a dessert called Bacorinho (little piglet) which was a very sweet eggy dessert of almond and cinnamon, served in a clay pig!
It was a very good value Sunday lunch, well worth going out of Lisbon for.
