If you're looking for a job as a bouncer or personal bodyguard, apply to Nobu Marbella for New Year's Eve. Access to the music platform is strictly restricted for Nobu guests. It is guarded by men in black, while the same band plays--simultaneously--for several neighboring restaurants. Dancing is prohibited for the first five hours. What is allowed is continuous acoustic bombardment from exhausted, second-hand loudspeakers. We were a group of sixteen friends, seated at separate wooden tables, placed back to back, with no real comfort or space. Chairs and backs rubbed constantly against guests from neighboring tables, creating a cramped, almost physical intimacy with strangers--hardly the setting one expects for a €550 New Year's Eve dinner. No tablecloths, cheap sticks and cutlery, and a layout that felt closer to crowd storage than hospitality. Conversation was impossible. Dancing was impossible. The music was too loud to talk over, too erratic to move to, and entirely indifferent to the people supposedly dining. The restroom experience deserves its own paragraph. Everything happens in individual cubicles, which explains the endless queues. Since women rarely enter alone--and men seem equally fond of company--the line appears to move but, in reality, never progresses. As for the food, the quality has already been discussed. What completes the picture is the combination of overpricing, crowd control, and staged exclusivity--a carefully choreographed rip-off wrapped in brand mythology and enforced by security. We have heard about Nobu in New York and Tokyo, but never were able to visit it. So when we saw a Nobu in Marbella while vacationing nearby, we had to give it a try. The restaurant itself is located inside the Hotel Nobu. It shares a common dining area with several other restaurants. Ask any of the nearby staff for the entrance, and they'll point it out for you. It is very well decorated, and features a lively ambiance. This is a high-end place. All the dishes were exquisitely prepared and full of flavors. The focus was really about the quality and presentation, similar to other high-end places. 3 types of Omakase are available, and you can also just order single entree dishes. The pace of the Omakase can be faster, as it seems to drag on. Other than that, it was a wonderful high-end dining experience. read more

I loved this place in Marbella came here twice on my visit . The staff the bartender and waitress were amazing. The vibe is awesome you feel you in Marbella. Ordered spicy edamame was bit spicy for my taste they changed to non spicy right away . Miso cod was amazing, miso soup, broccolini spicy tuna with the crispy rice. Lychee martinis were soo good . I'd eaten at many of the Nobu restaurants in the United States so I thought it was finally time for me to go global. Now I don't know about you, but I've never had a bad meal at a Nobu and Nobu Marbella surely didn't disappoint! I received amazing service from my personable waiter, Pablo. Now Pablo has amazing taste in sushi, so my recommendation to you is that you go and ask to be seated in his section. Then put your ordering in his hands. He won't steer you wrong! Pablo knocked my socks off with his nigiri recommendations. Some faves were the seared toro with truffle oil, the king crab which was served plain and even plain, it surprisingly wasn't lacking in flavor one bit, and the scallop with a bit of spice to it was also noteworthy. The sea bass nigiri was another personal favorite of mine. My meal and Hugo's recommendations were so good that I went back the following night for more. For the desserts, I recommend the Nobu Cheesecake, which was served with a strawberry yuzu sorbet and the Matcha Fondant, which was similar to what we call a chocolate lava cake in the States, served with green tea matcha ice cream on the side. We tried to go to Nobu for lunch but ended up driving around for 45 minutes looking for a place to park before leaving.

If you're American, you'll feel right at home, but get out your bling to fit in with the Spanish jet set. This is a traditional Nobu menu and style of service. Food and service were both exceptional. We tried Omakasa for some and al a carte ordering for others at the same table. Love the indoor/outdoor setup of the restaurant overlooking the bar scene. And the DJ after 10 pm was fun on Friday night! We were grooving to our cocktails between courses. This is very much a see and seen crowd of the Marbella on Friday nights. We enjoyed the people watching--especially since about a quarter of the restaurant already seemed to know one another! They were all dressed to impress--edgy cocktail dresses, jeans and blazers, Spanish bling, leather. It felt like a flashier, trendy LA restaurant. And special note about two things: the Miso Cod is simply the best at any Nobu and the service at Nobu in Marbella is probably the best services I've had at any Nobu or Matsuhisa itself. This restaurant appears fairly new and whoever is running it clearly knows what he or she is doing. Her whole staff was amazing--attentive, prompt, non-intrusive, friendly, and hip.
