Can we please make all the rest stops in the USA like this? You do have to pay CHF 1,00 for the bathroom, but you get a receipt and can use that towards the restaurant. It's cafeteria style so you can go around and fill up your plate. They also have kids selections and a small kids area to play. I was sad that my son was 10 years old because the highchair is on wheels with trays on the back so you can load up and your child can comfortably sit in the chair in front. So smart! That's the Swiss for you though. Expensive country, but you get what you pay for. The meals here aren't as expensive as in Zurich and quite reasonable. Definitely stop here and have a look, even if not hungry. You will simply love seeing this, it's quite a visual for the eyes as well as the other senses.

My family ordered for us so I wasn't able to see the menu but we had the half chicken with "spicy" sauce and fries. Very juicy and delicious chicken but the sauce is what makes it! Not spicy at all, but had such an amazing buttery flavour unlike anything I've had with chicken. Matched so well! Fries were great as well, also dipped in the sauce of course! I saw others there with salad and other dishes as well that we did not try. Did I mention the location was amazing?? Definitely worth the trip!

You can order it mild, medium, or spicy -- I had medium and could barely taste the heat. Don't feel silly when your primal instincts tell you to pick up the chicken with your hands because everyone else is doing it as well! We each ordered chicken in a basket and one side of fries. We were pleasantly stuffed! Best meal I had in Switzerland in the middle of summer! Decor is kind of out dated but the views this restaurant provides can't be beat. It's a bit of a drive out of Lucerne but it's well worth it. I also met the owner of the restaurant. She's a sweet old lady who sits in a corner booth and watches as her customers devour her delicious chicken.
