This cozy spot offers a wide selection of delicious fondues with unique flavors. Make a reservation for the patio as the restaurant's prime location gives you an amazing view of the Chapel Bridge and Old Town Lucerne. Our classic cheese fondue was tasty, but I loved the raclette! What is raclette? Raclette is a Swiss dish in which a wheel of semi-soft cow's‑milk cheese, traditionally from Valais, is heated and the melted layer is scraped onto potatoes, bread, and pickled vegetables. Raclette refers both to the cheese and the dish. The name comes from the French racler, meaning "to scrape," describing how the melted cheese is served. Our traditional raclette had a wedge of cheese that was heated on a special tabletop electric raclette machine. It was served with bowls filled with boiled red potatoes, cornichons, tiny, pickled pearl onions, steamed veggies, cubes of bread and sliced fruits. Loved the melted cheese that topped the fruits, veggies, pickles, potatoes and bread. Note: Although they do have chocolate fondue here, many Swiss Fondue restaurants do not.

She was very helpful in deciding what to order, but she disappeared the rest of our meal. It was unfortunate because we wanted to get more bread, potatoes and other things, but decided against it since she was not available to ask for those. The food itself was decent. My favorite fondue cheese was the herb/spiced one. It was very flavorful. The restaurant was very busy and the staff were frantic the entire time we were there. The food was good but was hoping for better service :(

Love, love, love the Raclette Factory…read more Really wanted to have another Raclette experience while in Switzerland. The first was in Lucerne and we loved it! Walked to the Raclette Factory from our hotel. Sat at a community table with a family from Argentina. They were so sweet. Their eleven year old was so animated and his parents were the sweetest. Fun to talk to them about travel, our mutual love of rollercoasters and science and the recent World Cup. The son loves Lamine Yamal. The dad is Team Messi. Our waiter, Flavio, made the evening our best choice. We really wanted to try a lot of different cheese flavors and combinations, so we had the Raclette All You Can Eat. Choose a couple of cheeses. Plain. Smoke. Garlic. Chili. White Wine. Red Wine. Blue cheese. Goat. Sheep. Truffle. Add toppings. It comes with pickles and pearl onions. Pickles and melted Raclette cheese. Unbelievably delicious. Add more toppings. Small potatoes, bread or mashed potatoes. So good! Started with the truffle and the red wine with the works, potatoes, mashed potatoes and cubes of bread. The truffle was my favorite of the cheeses and both the mashed potatoes and small potatoes were delicious. I think at the end we tried all of the cheeses but the original. We were stuffed!! Thank you to Flavio who really made our experience at the Raclette Factory a highlight of our visit to Zurich. Service was amazing and he gave us great recommendations. Definitely a night to remember.

Overall, it was fairly good and definitely a fun first experience, but I do think there are probably some more hidden local spots in town that I'd try next time. My fondue was around $50 just for myself, which felt pretty expensive for essentially cheese, but of course, it is Switzerland and this is definitely a touristy spot. Almost everyone around us seemed to be visiting as well. I did really like how many different fondue options they had. There were tons of variations to choose from, including some with meat, although those were even more expensive. The house wine was also really good and paired nicely with everything. I'm glad I tried it once and had the experience, but I'm not sure I'd come back. Next time I'd probably seek out a smaller, more local fondue spot.
