Three stars for the kitchen, the rest doesn't really merit any stars.
We went as we loved the entire experience back in 2009, following a recommendation from a friend.
We waited to be seated, together with another couple, for at least 10 minutes.
The "boss" then arrived, seemingly very stressed, and left us with one of the many very junior staff there.
Once seated, we felt the entire operation to be very hectic and not aligned.
We ordered with a nice young gentleman who believed that a dozen oysters where 11.
We clarified that we wanted 2 x 6, which helped him.
To those of you who think this is blasé: this venue asks 23 € for 6 oysters. I do expect that you know more about the food served at this rate.
(Not the young gentleman's issue, but a leadership issue.)
We had nice fish and crustaceans for mains.
Dinner (the food) was ok but in general it can be said that everything was focused on a larger group eating at the restaurant who where obviously acquainted with the owner. Looking at Google reviews and earlier reviews this seems to be a common "repetitive" trait of the owner: concentrating all resources on one table and neglecting the others.
They were treated like royalty and everyone else had to make do with what was left in terms of resources (time and staff).
My husband then had to wait again to be able to pay - waiting around until the young lady was available with the card machine (Corona times - who wants to pay cash?...).
We have eaten at many *truly* prestigious places and won't return - not worth the bill. There are other places I can be waited on by students who don't know a thing about wine and food, where we are not ignored but made to feel welcome - and pay less than 50% of the bill.
Again, 3 stars for the kitchen as the chef is surely worth his money (I do hope he gets compensated accordingly) but no stars for any of the rest of it.
We'll be frequenting the more basic places on the island for the rest of our stay as they know how to treat paying customers, with better service and the same quality food. read more
