And it is. A bit too cool for school. As it were. Sometimes the staff is super nice and friendly and other times you'll feel like you've interrupted an episode of The Real World Berlin. Sometimes snobby, sometimes fantastic. The upside? Plenty of tables, outlets, work space, energy, creativity, networking opps, clean bathrooms, decent light food options, fresh juices, etc. The downside? The 'tude. It is out in full effect. Still, I enjoyed several afternoons here. Even when the guy yelled at me for drinking my own water...even though...they have free tap water. Still. I enjoyed it. I get the policy, bro...no need to freak. We've got everything under control.

We came here just to have dessert and hang out. And so unlike NY, you can actually go to places like these after dark, have a glass of wine, and quietly read a book. I didn't get to check out the food selection too much but I did have a slice of chocolate cake that had dark cherries and hot pepper and the combination was awesome! If I lived in Berlin if definitely be hanging out at these places.

I wanted to order the entire menu but restrained myself and just got the Tom Ka Kai soup and Prawn Katsu Burger. Both were wonderful! I slurped the soup down to the very last drop and almost ordered another one. The burger was light and fresh, with tons of great flavor. The basil lemonade was the cherry on top of my order, herbaceous and fizzy. I loved every sip! My husband ordered the Umami Burger and fries and was kind enough to share a couple bites. His items were good, but I liked mine way better. The restaurant itself is quaint and cute. You almost forget you're right in the middle of Alexanderplatz under the TV Tower and not tucked into some quiet side-street in some far off destination. It seems to be family run (I think we met father and son at the register and spotted mom cooking) and every employee we encountered was super kind and accommodating. Makes me wish I lived in Berlin instead of Italy so that we could visit more often! Wonder if they'd mail me some of that Tom Ka Kai soup? Hmmm...
