Takoyaki is a speciality in this restaurant and as simple as that I obviously had to get them. So far these were the best Takoyakis I had in Germany but they are a rare species to begin with. Unfortunately I have one major complaint. The Takoyakis were not fresh and hot. They came out very fast which is surprising considering how long it usually takes to make them. I can only assume they were pre-prepared and finished to order. You could argue that I took pictures but I only needed about 5 minutes for that and all the Takoyakis I had in Japan still burned my mouth even after that time. These here were warm and could be eaten as a whole which I would never do in Japan! SERVICE Lovely service. The staff also explained the different Takoyaki variants on your plate at the table. ATMOSPHERE Small and simple restaurant. I decided to sit at a table outside because I felt it was nothing special. RATING If my Takoyakis were hot and "fresh" it would have taken me back to Japan instantly. I think when you put an item on the front of your menu, you should give it your best even if the customer has to wait. I will gladly wait thirty minutes or longer for hot and fresh Takoyakis. They still get my recommendation!

Totally enjoyed. Gyu don was just the way I wanted it, rice was well-covered in sauce, but not soggy nor swimming as some other Japanese restaurents I experienced. The only issue we had was the portion of Sake don, it would have been perfect if the portion had been as generous as Gyu don. However, the service was pleasant. We would definitely go back.

The menu is nice and easy to cover - about 8 appetizer, 6 udon soups and 6 don dishes which allows you to get a good feel for what they are all about in one sitting. My friend and I shared the japanese omelette and the gyazu as an appetizer which I can both recommend. I chose the Gyu Don which they actually didn't have and what kinda caused me to give 4 stars only. We then actually ordered the sake don and the chicken terriyaki don. Both looked and tasted absolutely fantastic! To complete the experience we chose the "3 out of 8 sake sampler" for 12€ that allows you to trial 3 of the 8 sake they offer in their restaurant. Whenever I am back there is just Onigiri and Udon left to try. Check this place out! Really good...

What can I say? Sometimes a girl just wants to feast on a plethora of Asian food so much that she's willing to compromise her basic expectations of not accidentally chowing down on plastic. Quantity-wise, I couldn't ask for more when it comes to the Vital Bento Box: miso soup, seaweed salad, three chicken gyoza, three chicken skewers over rice, six California rolls, and five pieces of fried zucchini. Quality-wise, it can be hit or miss, which makes me question whether this bento box is truly worth €10.50. The bento box I ordered on the day I almost started chewing on the piece of plastic film found in my seaweed salad definitely wasn't the best -- the gyoza was also kind of cold. CUBO Restaurant is on the smaller side: there are three tables for four, two tables for two, and six seats outside. Service is fairly hands-off -- there's only one server who's usually scuttling around trying to tend to everyone's needs while also being fairly inattentive as is the norm in German restaurants. I'd advise against coming here during a short lunch break. But pay this place a visit when you have a bit of time on your hands -- you'll be sure to find something you like on the vast menu (soup, udon, ramen, bento boxes, sushi) as long as you don't expect something amazing.

Everything I had was pretty good except the mushroom Maki which wasn't that good but still fine. My friend also got gyoza which were surprisingly good! As far as for ambiance...well let's say the affordable prices justify it. The menu cards have seen better days, the tables and chairs outside are a mix-and-match between cheap plastic chairs and old wooden tables and the service is not exceptional. Still though, good sushi, very fair prices and you don't wait long at all for the food to arrive.

All it all it was good and delicious but nothing extraordinary. One thing I didn't like was the fact that the rice of my inside out roll was quite loose and fell apart while I ate it. I mean it was still delicious (the eel was so soft and tender YUM!) but I'm used to different sushi. The salmon skin maki on the other hand was alright. The waiter were all friendly but slightly disoriented. They needed some time until I could order but to be fair: it was very crowded. Well... Since this place is super cheap I should give it 4 stars but I just can't. I am used to better sushi and better places and I am not sure if I will return here. Not because it's bad but it's quite far off from my place and I already have my favourite suhsi restaurants. If you are near by: Yeah why not! You won't regret it but you won't miss anything if you go elsewhere.
