A few weeks later I found out on instagram that Heno Heno is planing of coming back but with a new address. Months of waiting came but it was worth in! Ladies and gentlemen: This is Heno Heno my new favourite japanese restaurant! They serve a handfull of dishes which are on point. My favourite was (when I still ate meat) the gyu-don which is a rice bowl with a beef stew. Add the onsen tamago (poached egg) to get it authentic. The bowls are in three different sizes and for a super small price. I haven't checked all their dishes yet but my friend who has been in Tokyo for a year likes it there. Escpecially for the semi-authentic interior. For vegetarians I recommend the veggie donburi which is rice topped with a spinach salad and seaweed in sesame. Love it here! Perfect if you already count your calories but because of that reason you lose on flavor. I highly recommend to get the onsen egg with the bowl of beef over rice. Mix everything nicely together and the egg yolk will provide the necessary fat content to counter the dryness. Other than that the taste was good. Not mind blowingly good but a decent home cooked meal which in all fairness is what they are trying to do. SERVICE Staff was nice and friendly. Standard Japanese service which is a good thing. ATMOSPHERE Nice restaurant. Simple, a bit dark yet warm. RATING Four stars because even though they do Japanese home cook meals I think even in that specific area the flavors can be approved.

We came to this restaurant around 19:30 to eat something small and enjoy some cocktails. A few tables were occupied, but it was not really packed. I am saying this because we had to wait over half an hour for our drinks. After about 30 minutes (plus reminding the waitstaff of our order), they brought us one of the three cocktails we ordered. And it was the wrong one. Around 10 minutes later they came with the 2 remaining ones (It was supposed to be lemonade, but tasted like carbonated water. I can do that at home for way less than 7€). Then we asked for the first wrong cocktail to be changed, and (after this did not happen) reminded 3 separate waitresses of it until finally giving up on it. We have full understanding that sometimes things take a bit longer, but if we have to wait 1 full hour to get 3 drinks, something has gone wrong. And the restaurant was not even fully packed...

At the restaurant, we had to wait a little for the order. It is run by two guys who seem calm, clean and competent. At some point it got pretty crowded and I think because of that our potatoes suffered and got to us a little bit on the lukewarm side. Still good, but noteworthy. At my delivery at home, all was perfect. Had the Burger Berlin spezial and country potatoes. Would recommend those over regular fries. The price is OK for what you get. The space itself is cute, hip, clean and enjoyable. Well worth a visit.

A standard cheeseburger cost approx. 4 EUR and is a standard size. Tastes fresh and juicy. The burgers are prepared quickly and there are plenty of tables to sit inside and outside. Since I live in Charlottenburg, I will be checking into this place at least once a month and it will not break my bank either (maybe my buttons on my pants). :)

Totally enjoyed. Gyu don was just the way I wanted it, rice was well-covered in sauce, but not soggy nor swimming as some other Japanese restaurents I experienced. The only issue we had was the portion of Sake don, it would have been perfect if the portion had been as generous as Gyu don. However, the service was pleasant. We would definitely go back.

The menu is nice and easy to cover - about 8 appetizer, 6 udon soups and 6 don dishes which allows you to get a good feel for what they are all about in one sitting. My friend and I shared the japanese omelette and the gyazu as an appetizer which I can both recommend. I chose the Gyu Don which they actually didn't have and what kinda caused me to give 4 stars only. We then actually ordered the sake don and the chicken terriyaki don. Both looked and tasted absolutely fantastic! To complete the experience we chose the "3 out of 8 sake sampler" for 12€ that allows you to trial 3 of the 8 sake they offer in their restaurant. Whenever I am back there is just Onigiri and Udon left to try. Check this place out! Really good...
