I suspect there may have been a management or ownership change since the videos we saw, as the experience felt a little different than expected, but the team there is working hard. When we arrived with our party of 8, we were greeted by a very pleasant staff who did a great job accommodating our large group. As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed bag, but there are definitely some highlights: Garlic Shrimp: This was absolutely on point. I honestly should have ordered a second plate, but I didn't want to be greedy! Rasta Pasta: Packed with flavor and a solid choice. Jerk Chicken: The star of the show. I could have easily just eaten this for my entire meal. Oxtail: This was a bit of a disappointment; it had good flavor, but the meat was tough rather than falling off the bone. We did have a few hiccups with dishes taking a while to come out, but the owner came over to apologize and personally explained that they were understaffed due to some last-minute call-outs. She was a very nice lady, and we were totally understanding of the situation. If you decide to give them a try, I would 100% recommend starting with the garlic shrimp and going for the Rasta pasta with the jerk chicken. We appreciated the hospitality and the effort the team put into making our large group feel welcome!

Review for pez dorado…read more The was quite the surprising little restaurant. We found this place while on the hunt for food on 10th Avenue. It is located on 10th and 24th and is alluring because of the 4 course menu option for 200 pesos per person. The chief greeted us at the entrance and explain the menu in Spanish but was polite enough to repeat himself in English with explained that we don't speak Spanish. He also did not push us to come in side and eat. He stepped away to let us think and then thanked us for choosing his restaurant. He introduced us to our server and advised he'd be the one cooking our food. We were a little confused by the menu and had the server explain it to us once more. I had ceviche, artichoke and avocado salad, mango chicken with rice and beans, and coconut ice cream. My wife had ceviche, Balsamic salad, mahi-mahi with Mac n cheese, and lemon ice cream. The meal on both ends was delicious, service and atmosphere was awesome, and the price was just right! We wish we could come back soon but recommend this place! It's a must try

We opted to get wood fired grill fish to split with potatoes & grilled veggies. Plus some cocktails. It was amazing. Of course it's a whole fish so you need to know how to navigate this but I'm local so I know how to feed the table. The veggies were a little under done cuz I like a good grill on them but besides that it was perfect! If you are hesitant don't be! The old reviews are not a reflection of the new management or staff! I can't remember the gentleman's name who served us but he had a compass tattoo on his right arm. Lots of wisdom came out the quick conversations we had as he checked in on us. Overall a lovely experience, It was the perfect meal for a perfectly lovely evening.

Had the catch of the day and the roasted broccoli. Both very mediocre. The broccoli basically tasted uncooked. Unclear what we paid for. I wouldn't come again. Party: popped in a couple of days later because it seemed bumping. Much better spot for an night out because the layout has multiple small spaces to hang and dance, and the lighting and ambience is really cool. Verdict Avoid for dinner but fine for evening vibes

My boyfriend and I came here twice during our stay and we honestly wish we had skipped some of the other places we went to and came here instead. Even though we only came here twice, we tried a lot of stuff. Ceviche Mixto The ceviche here is super fresh and cooked with the perfect amount of lime juice. It has fish, shrimp, octopus, onions, tomatoes, & cilantro. We ordered this both times we ate here. Arrachera with Cactus Yum! This was a lot of food. It came with chorizo as well. The steak was cooked to perfection and was super tender and juicy. The cactus sauce was really interesting and yummy as well. Tamarind Margarita This was the only thing I didn't really enjoy. It was way too sweet for me, but I also dislike sugar more than the average person (ie. I don't like 99% of desserts). I ordered it because I was expecting it to be more tart because of the tamarind. Ojo Rojo Ojo rojos are my favorite drink. I order it with Dos Equis. It's basically like a Bloody Mary, but instead of vodka, I mix it with beer. The ojo rojo mix they make here is great. Maya Salad Ordered this because we had eaten almost no veggies for like a week. Wasn't expecting too much from this, but it was so so good!! The pumpkin seeds, carrots and dressing were the best part. We got this with no meat because we ordered it as an appetizer, but next time I come back, I'd definitely order it with the chicken option and have it as a main entree. The guava dressing is to die for and I normally never add dressings to my salads. Not sure how "authentically Mayan" this salad was, but no joke, it was probably my second favorite thing out of all the things I ate in Cozumel. Mole Chicken SO FREAKIN GOOD! This was my favorite thing I had during my entire trip hands down. I tried mole at two other restaurants, but this one absolutely won out. We ordered too much food and I was already feeling stuffed by the time this entree came out, but the sauce was so good, I ate everything. And I mean everything. All the meat off the chicken, every speck of rice, and I used the tortillas to wipe any remaining sauce off my plate. MUST ORDER! Coconut shrimp My boyfriend ordered this. I had a bite and thought it was really good! The shrimp was definitely fresh and it was fried/cooked perfectly. The batter was really flakey. The shrimp were huge too. Jamaican Margarita (?) with worm salt I didn't try any, but my boyfriend really enjoyed it. I did try some of the salt with the worms in it. It just tastes like normal margarita salt, honestly. You can see the little specs of worms in it though, which was cool.

A Refreshing Change of Pace with Friendly Vibes and Live Music…read more If you're looking to take a break from your usual go-to taco and Mexican spots, this place offers a nice variety with its Cuban-inspired menu. I'm a big fan of tacos, but every now and then, it's great to mix things up--and this spot gave me that change of pace I was looking for. I especially appreciated the inclusion of rice and beans, which I've been missing lately. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. It wasn't a busy night, so we ended up getting to enjoy the live music almost like a private show. That part really stood out--the band brought a warm energy to the room, and it made the whole evening feel more intimate and memorable. The service was genuinely great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and took time to explain that the menu was Cuban-inspired, which was a good heads-up. That explained some of the differences in flavor and presentation, and helped manage expectations about what ingredients or sides might be missing compared to more traditional Latin or Caribbean places. One thing I wasn't a huge fan of, though, was having to order everything à la carte. For example, when I ordered the pork, the rice and beans weren't included--they were separate add-ons. It felt a little disjointed, and I would have preferred if those staples came as part of the dish. It's not a dealbreaker, but it's something to keep in mind if you're expecting a full plate. As for the food itself--it was solid. I had the Delicias de Queso, which were flavorful and satisfying, with a nice texture and taste. The pork was also seasoned well and tender. Everything came out hot and well-prepared, and you can tell there's care in the kitchen. That said, nothing completely blew me away, but it all hit the spot. The mojito was probably the low point of the evening for me. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't have that fresh, crisp pop that you expect in a great mojito. Maybe it just needed more mint or lime--something to give it that brightness. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The food was enjoyable, the live music added something special, and the service was top-notch. While I didn't love the à la carte pricing and the drink could have been better, I'd still recommend giving this place a try if you're in the mood for something different and easygoing. It's a solid spot for a laid-back night out with some good vibes.
