As an American used to variety of cuisines, and adaptations to them I often find the food in Germany and Austria regions very typical. We tried this restaurant and had excellent food, preparation was excellent, it came with actual vegetables, and the service was very fast. We had the spaghetti and the meat skewer, both excellent and he green salad had very good dressing! It was our first time but will be back to try more of the menu!

Prices are reasonable. 5 stars for interiors. 3 for the food. First time I had the pan fried zander filet with boiled potatoes smothered in butter and herbs. it all seemed fresh and well cooked, but really greasy. The lettuce was a bit gritty. My friend had the rösti with bacon and mushrooms. Again very greasy, but tasty. The portion was quite small. Drinks were expensive, 5 euros for a johannisbeersaft gespritzt. Second time, I tried the kaiserschmarren and my friend had pizza. Kaisershmarren was burnt (charred black on one side) and doughy in the middle. Pizza was good but quite small. Don't think we ll be running back here.

They serve dinner around 8pm onwards so & lunch menu is from 3pm. You'll need to make reservations for dinner as it gets very busy. During lunch they have full bar available, small lunch menu and a DJ playing schlager music the entire time. Even on a Monday afternoon, the DJ was blasting those tunes loud and enthusiastically trying to get the crowd singing. Which usually occurs after afew drinks anyway. The menu is traditional Austrian, so get right into it because it is delicious and homemade style. For lunch we ordered currywurst, bbq spare ribs with garlic bread and ham crust. The dinner vibe was a little less disco Germanic music and more relaxed but buoyant and busy. I think we over ordered but ah well. We had crunchy winter salad, double boiled beef broth with fried cheese dumplings, classic bacon & onions flame tarte (ham crust), pork belly with sauerkraut and roasted potatoes and crispy skin boneless chicken leg with spinach "spätzle" and mushrooms. Honestly no bad dish, everything was top notch only problem was the food was so filling it was difficult to consume it all. Luckily we took our time and managed somewhat. The ambience of this restaurant is cool, Austrian, joyful and drinking. Definitely try some of the local Austrian beers. We enjoyed this place alot and definitely will return upon next visit. Recommended.

But the restaurant associated…read morewith this hotel also just called Hotel Sonne restaurant, we visited multiple times like magnets. Because the food is not good. It's insanely good. It's insanely good traditional Austrian food. I think I became Austrian whilst eating their meals. Realising I'd never be able to have such authenticity and quality back home. Because went afew times we had a chance to sample a lot of the menu that's why I can say the food was insanely good because repeat visits did not reveal any lapse in consistency. There's decent choices for the entire menu, there's even a pizza section. But I'd say the standout is the desserts. My partner, having eaten his way through Europe, confirmed that this restaurant made the best apple strudel he's ever tried. It even beat our experience at Cafe Lourve in Prague, which is saying alot. I discovered a wonderful new dessert called Kaiserschmarrn. It's very common in the region but it was simply kickarse for me. It's chopped up thick pancakes doused in sugar powder and served with fruit or apple sauce. The staff were very friendly and accomodating to all our whims and seemed to recognise us on the repeat visits occasions. Like most restaurants here, there's a smoking and non smoking section. If you're a non smoker, be specific and say non smoker, else you're going to cop it. The decor, music and waiters are all Austrian, seriously this place couldn't be more Austrian. We loved it. When we're in town next, we'd definitely come back!

We arrived in Ischgl in the evening after a long drive from Southwest Germany. Based on other's…read morereviews, we arrived at the Sunnalm hoping to have a satisfying Austrian meal before heading back to bed. However, the food and service were below average. I was so tired and hungry at this point that I was slightly devastated. The Stiegl is cold and that was the best part of this meal. The prices are far too high for what you receive. My plate was scalding hot, but my food was barely lukewarm. The same went for my husband's. I received rubbery green beans, covered in an unappetizing kraut. My husband ordered a pfanne, but it was cooked in separate pans and then transferred to the cold copper pan that immediately took away all the heat. The flavors were very subdued, almost nonexistent. We ate several other meals in Ischgl and absolutely would not recommend eating here. We were seated in the upstairs section of this hotel restaurant (which was much quieter and less casual) and that also added to my bad time.
