J'aime bien l'hotel Swissotel Metropole!…read more OK, that was the limit of my French, so back to English. In the 10 or so times that I've been to Geneva, I have always (except once when it was full), stayed at the Metropole. A couple of reasons for this: Number 1, it is really close to my office (although the office has now moved). However, for people not travelling for work, this translates to "it is close to the town centre", which makes it easy to access the shops and restaurants. It is also facing Lake Geneva, which makes it easy to cross the bridge and access the restaurants on the other side of the lake. Number 2, the service is impeccable. The staff are always really polite, and when I was at the height of frequent visits, the manager knew me by name. Even after a year, he still recognised me. When my parents celebrated their wedding anniversary here a few years ago, I put in a quick call to the hotel, who organised champagne and fruits, which was a really nice gesture. Number 3, they have a loyalty scheme (always a bonus when you're a frequent traveller). The only main downside to the hotel is the cost - the full cooked buffet breakfast is a whopping CHF42! Although, I suspect this is fairly in-line with costs in Geneva generally. It's a very good business-styled hotel. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a booking for my next visit, so will need to try out another hotel. Boo.

This was an okay hotel for an overnight in Geneva. The travel agent booked it and did fine. Nice…read morehotel, clean, good location. I went for a long walk around the lake at night and in the morning it was a quick walk to coffee if you want to get out of the hotel/ Really nothing to complain about as far as the hotel itself. Chocolate in the room upon arrival. Decent bed. Most importantly, air conditioning that worked on a very hot summer day. I would stay the Ritz Carlton I walked by nearby next time but it was okay enough. They weren't super nice at check in when I told them that no, I was paying for the room and it should have been in my name. Pretty sure he rolled his eyes at me, even if not intentional. They also could not give change at the desk for USD/CHF, which is pretty standard at hotels in Europe. Aside from that and being less than impressed with how small the room was, even for EU, it was good enough but not anymore than 3 stars for me.

Taking in the sights that Geneva, Switzerland has to offer. Ibis Styles Geneva Gare fit my needs…read more Across from the train station and transport hub. Conveniently located to most tourist spots. They provide a pass for public transportation, but most things are close enough to walk. The room was small but clean. As a solo traveler it met my needs. As a budget hotel the room didn't have a minifridge, or a kettle for tea/coffee. The bathroom was small but clean. The staff was friendly and courteous. The breakfast is for an additional fee. Overall, I would recommend. I do not have anything negative to say, other than it's a bit pricey, but this is Switzerland.

In fact, when you stay here, you will be given a complimentary train ticket to get to the airport which is between 6-7 minutes away. You can't ask for anything more convenient than that!! Also, I loved how clean it is, how trendy the decor is, and the room, while it is on the smaller side, it is super modern and safe. You need your hotel room key to gain access at night to the hotel and to use the elevator. Also, the complimentary breakaway was delicious and had a great variety of items. I had two delicious crepes with Nutella, a yogurt, a medley of nuts, and cereal with craisins. The coffee machine also make delicious lattes!! The bathroom was pristinely clean and the water pressure was perfect. The people who work in this hotel go above and beyond to ensure that you're taken care of, and I highly recommend it when you're in Geneva!

Hotel Kipling is a charming 3-star hotel located a little over 5 minutes walking from the Geneva…read moretrain station. It was moderately priced making it an ideal choice as a base to experience Geneva during our short 2-night stay. And a short stay you will have as you can easily experience what Geneva has to offer in one full day. The rooms were nicely furnished with an old world charm, were air-conditioned, and beds comfortable for 2 friends to share. Desk staff were super friendly and helpful. The surrounding neighborhood has its "rougher" parts, especially with brothel occupied Rue de Berne *ahem*, though I never felt leery/ unsafe, more so intrigued, really ;). The easy walk to Geneva Lake and Paquis de Buvette was much convenient, on the other hand. It was a short stroll to reach Old Town as well. Perhaps my feedback would be that the AC and mini bar fridge could have been colder, but my American butt be so high maintenance, therefore they are minor gripes. Super helpful to have a link sent prior to our visit to acquire the free public transit pass for tourists. It allowed us to hop on one of the many trains leaving from the station at the airport to Geneva train station.

Check in was seamless and easy and our double and twin (upgraded) room was ready when we arrived around 1 pm which was a nice touch. Dark wood decor throughout with a balcony. Safe was available as well a Mini Bar. Robes and slippers were provided. There is a restaurant and breakfast/Brunch was available. Although we didn't eat here, the restaurant was full during meal times. Two person elevator that is from another era but still worked and got the job done. The Fitness room/Spa area had Modern decor and is the part of the hotel that has been updated. A rare, both Steam and Dry Sauna rooms (2-3 people max capability) are included with an inviting relax area that was always kept clean and organized. An Amazing Wine Bar (La Tenuta)) and coffee shop (Christie's) just steps away and 15 minutes walk from the City Center. Overall the hotel is super clean, beds are extra comfy, deluxe rooms have balconies, and they also have a spa + gym in the basement.
