European medium rare borders closer to rare than medium, which is fine for me as long as the steak is cooked well. Quite tasty! Service was fine, no complaints from me. Fuego is beautiful inside and all the tables face giant windows on the marina. You can also dine on the outside terrace. Even in the cold temperatures people were bundled up eating and drinking. From the service, drinks, and the food our experience was wonderful. The Long Islands were strong and packed a punch. We started with a bowl of creamy tomato and smoked paprika soup. It was excellent. Good flavor and consistency. From there we had the seafood trio. Wonderful presentation of cod, gamba (prawns), and salmon. The flavorful burre noisette sauce was excellent. The steak was expertly grilled with a nice medium rare center. We passed on dessert but decided on coffee before heading back into the cold. Our experience at Fuego was great, five stars!

While not exactly traditional Dutch cuisine (the menu is similar to an American seafood and steakhouse, with some regional European flair), the steaks here were juicy and cooked to order, and to perfection. Salad was crisp and not drowned in dressing, and fries were thick, steak-cut and golden brown. While you won't get any adventure points for branching out and trying something new and exotic, you will have a hard time finding a better restaurant in Volendam.

Onion rings straight out of the freezer. Red flag if they all look the same. Confection batter, and the onion filling was more pulp that actual onion. Garlic sauce provided to hide this failure. Then had a 300gr dry aged ribeye as entree. BIG mistake. First of all I doubt it was even close to 300gr. Secondly I doubt it was even dry aged by the way the meat structure looked. Very mediocre quality cut of meat. But most importantly I ordered it medium rare and got it pretty much still saying mooh on the plate. Just a sear on the outside (with hardly any seasoning), already cooled off, lots of fat chunks (way too much for a dry aged rib eye) and nearly completely raw. Same for one of the other guests I shared the meal with. Sent steaks back. Got them back a bit later, waiter asks us to cut open a piece to check. Still raw! How on earth do you fuck that up? Waiter says "shall I give them a bit more?". Eh, no thanks. Not gonna have my steak heated 3 times in a row thank you very much. Lost my appetite and told him to take it to the trashcan. The chef in that place has no respect for his craft, no respect for the food, and certainly no respect for the guests. If you can't get grilling some wings, ribs and foremost the Crown Jewels on your menu even close to right, please do everyone a favour and just quit. I feel sorry for the girls that served us, because they did their best and it's not their fault, and they did take the steaks off the bill in the end. But still got left with a bill that in no way reflected the quality of the food. The people that like this place either haven't had a proper steak in their lives, or just don't care. If you are a meat lover, you'll find nothing but a big slab of well done dissappointment on your plate. Also don't look at their Facebook page for reviews. The only reason I do not give Woody's a "five star" rating is that, despite that each sauce variety we sampled was tasty and well-paired for the food with which it was served, every single one of them was on the sweet side. I would have preferred something savory at some point, and this was also mentioned to the server by another patron at a nearby table. (I will also add that I was mildly disappointed to not see poutine - the quintessential Canadian way of serving french fries, on the menu).
