The resto is actually a hybrid of Viet-Thai cuisines. Given that they cater to a local palate, the…read morepho I ordered was sans chewy bits and bean sprouts/basil garnish, but with lemon grass and ginger added. It was a tasty soup, but very different from what I'm used to. I asked the owner/waiter/cocktail-maker why he serves his pho the way he does and his reply was simply, "we tried it with all the different, chewy bits thrown in, but customers didn't like it, so we changed it." -makes sense to me! What I liked most about Ha Long was that the proprietor (family-run biz), a young man, and his associate, an employee, were so fired up about proper cocktail making. We three got into a discussion about cachaca, and, the next thing I knew, the owner was making us a caipirinha to taste. Cana Rio, I think was the type of cachaca he used, and I can say that it wasn't too bad either. I mentioned that I am a fan of spritzing a wee bit of soda water in my caipirinha just to give it a bit of "umpf". The proprietor said that they'd used to make their caps that way, too. However, as with the pho, some customers didn't like that as they said it "watered" (my new Wort des Tages: verwaessert) down the drink, so they stopped doing it. They then mentioned a "drinks bible" that's all the rage currently in Germany by a man named Charles Schuhman. I intend to do some searching on the internet to find out more this dude. ***Ca phe sua was done properly, and, a nice touch, the glass that the coffee was filtered into was resting in a bowl of very warm water, so that when the coffee had finished filtering, my brown brew was warm to the taste! ***Great atmosphere: tidy space, attractive decor, fresh flowers on the tables. ***Easy to get to: one takes the U4 from Charlottenplatz to (the end stop) Hoelderlinplatz. Ha Long is literally just across the street!

It was rainy yesterday, so we didn't venture out. Our server was extremely nice and spoke English. The food was FANTASTIC. Their Spring Rolls tasted fresh and delicious and we both had the Pho, which hit the spot. I would love to see this place succeed here, and we will frequent it often.

We had been driving around exploring & I found this place while searching the map. Situated in the front of the building in what almost looks like a house is this amazing quaint restaurant. Street parking is available. Clean & modernistic when you walk in. 2 staff members, I'm thinking maybe a husband & wife. Both super friendly with enough English for us to communicate well with them. Lunch specials are offered during certain times & are huge portions with reasonable prices. Food came out hot & everything was so fresh. It tasted amazing & when talking to the gentleman that served us, he stated their chef is Vietnamese so the food is authentic as you can get. They do take some ingredients out as Germans do not tend to like them but the food was the best Vietnamese food we have had in years. Staff were so thankful & so glad to hear that. Prices are reasonable. If we are ever in Germany again we will absolutely go here. I recommend anyone looking for this type of food in the area to try this place out.

Served with the standard accompaniments; lime, sprints, fresh mint, etc. The only major difference from what we get back in the US was the noodles; instead of the thin rice noodles, it comes with thicker flat rice noodles. Unfortunately my noodles were a touch over-cooked, but that could have been a one-off mistake. We will definitely be back...

My…read morelocal friend in Stuttgart suggested it, as it got good reviews - very possibly from people unfamiliar with Vietnamese cuisine. The waitress explained to us that when they first opened, they did offer authentic Vietnamese dishes, but the locals weren't interested, and the business got so bad that it faced closure. Since they have edited their recipes to meet the local taste, they are doing roaring trade now. Unfortunately for me, it was just about the worst meal I had during my multi-nation trip this summer - Switzerland, Germany and Ireland ... seriously, these three countries aren't on top of the list in the culinary hall of fame, but they all did much better than this Vietnamese representation! Their pho came with dark brown sweet potato noodles, instead of the usual white rice noodles. I suspect that it may be hard for them to get authentic ingredients, as all of my vegetarian choices featured the same things - mostly just Tofu, even seitan, which doesn't belong to Vietnamese food. I was super stuffed (and bored) with soybean protein that night. Their outdoor seating is pretty, but during the heatwave, not having indoor AC was also a down side.

We also tried the mango smoothie and the cherry smoothie, both delicious and the kids even liked them. We had the summer rolls, spring rolls, edamame, sweet potato fries, salmon in a clay pot and the dragon sea soup. It was all outstanding. I told the staff that we would make the trip again from Tübingen for sure! Also it's very convenient to one of our favorite dojangs: Jungdo Taekwondo.
