It was snowing outside and we were hungry after our drive, and we found that the food here was just what we needed to continue our trip. For a family of five we ordered three skewer platters (two chicken and one beef kebabs). Since we were particularly hungry, I think that we would have benefitted from ordering another plate or two (each plate came with two kebabs), but it was all delicious! We especially liked the bread that they provided, and I enjoyed the hummus and baba ghanoush as well. The meat was very tender and soft, and the wait staff was also very courteous. After a few days of eating European food, it was nice to just eat some chicken and rice. I won't be returning to Switzerland for a while, so I unfortunately won't be able to come back to Layaly Beirut, but I leave this review here so that others may try the tasty Lebanese cuisine served at this establishment.

I hit up this Lebanese joint in Zurich for lunch…read more Lebanese? In Zurich? Yuuup. It turned out to be the best lunch in Zurich...quick service, nice Swiss beer selection, giant plates of salad and deelish chicken kebabs (awesome marinate and grilled to perfection). It was located right next to my high-end hotel in a popular plaza, so you can people-watch all day. Who ain't love looking at hot chicks shake it whilst walking on by? Oh my god- this place is the savior of food in Switzerland. I'm sorry but Switzerland may be known…read morefor their amazing chocolate but food is definitely not their specialty, unless you're into bland food and smelly (albeit tasty, sometimes) cheese. Cèdre-Bellevue serves Lebanese food and I can tell that the owners are from Lebanon which is indeed comforting. Absolutely everything was delicious- a rare occasion indeed especially in Zurich, but truly nothing missed the mark. My personal favorite was the arayes- the lemon potatoes inside were amazing and I haven't had arayes with this before. All in all, if you're in Switzerland despite this not being Swiss food, do yourself a favor and try it. It's some of the best Lebanese food I've had and I live in NYC haha.

In any case, we were in Aarau for a design show and having never really explored the city before, we were wandering around, hungry, and ended up in the Altstatt where we happened to round a corner and saw the sign for Al Ahram. Aha! Sadly, it's really tiny inside and it was completely full. So, we ordered and then sat outside and watched the people go by. Our decision to split one of their falafel platters turned out to be have been a good choice. One each would have been way too much food. Their falafel is quite obviously homemade and was some of the best that I've ever had. The Platter comes with various sauces, etc., all of which was scraped clean by the time we finished. The reason for that is because it was really good and we didn't want to waste any. If they had any dessert, ala middle-eastern fair, I missed it. Aside from that, I can't complain about anything and don't want to. We'll definitely be back!

Wearing nice clothing and have a hankering for schwarma? This might be the place for you. No it is…read morenot fancy, but the schwarma here are built to make less of a mess. :) You get a choice of meat (beef, chicken, ground beef, other) and they wrap it up with some veggies (pickles count as a veggie it seems) and put it in a panini press which I like. Gives it a toasted wrap and presses it in to a flatter form factor. The flattened wrap makes it easier to eat without making a mess! The schwarma itself is above average.
