In any case, we were in Aarau for a design show and having never really explored the city before, we were wandering around, hungry, and ended up in the Altstatt where we happened to round a corner and saw the sign for Al Ahram. Aha! Sadly, it's really tiny inside and it was completely full. So, we ordered and then sat outside and watched the people go by. Our decision to split one of their falafel platters turned out to be have been a good choice. One each would have been way too much food. Their falafel is quite obviously homemade and was some of the best that I've ever had. The Platter comes with various sauces, etc., all of which was scraped clean by the time we finished. The reason for that is because it was really good and we didn't want to waste any. If they had any dessert, ala middle-eastern fair, I missed it. Aside from that, I can't complain about anything and don't want to. We'll definitely be back!

Cèdre-Bellevue serves Lebanese food and I can tell that the owners are from Lebanon which is indeed comforting. Absolutely everything was delicious- a rare occasion indeed especially in Zurich, but truly nothing missed the mark. My personal favorite was the arayes- the lemon potatoes inside were amazing and I haven't had arayes with this before. All in all, if you're in Switzerland despite this not being Swiss food, do yourself a favor and try it. It's some of the best Lebanese food I've had and I live in NYC haha.

The restaurant is centrally located, just next to the Limmat river a few steps from Bellevue. I've had both the Mezze menu and the a la carte options and I must say the food quality is good, the price is right for what you get. But I cannot get over the really non-existent service. I think they are convinced that due to the prime location it's not necessary to be friendly and prompt? A good example was that when ordering another round of drinks, we had to wait 30 mins (no special orders) while some of the staff was just standing around the bar. In addition, it doesn't feel like you are welcome, they seem to be annoyed by all the guests. I've been to Cedre at their Badenerstrasse location which is much better service wise but in summer they have limited outdoor seating capacity. If you are ok with soso service and decent food at a prime location, do go to Le Cedre Bellevue. Else, I'll prefer to take my business somewhere else, their sister restaurant for example!

The food was delicious. My husband had the mixed grill which was lamb, chicken, and beef. It came with salad and rice. I got the chicken which was 2 skewers of chicken breast meat and chicken wings. It also came with the same side dishes. I had a soda my husband had a draft beer. The meat was tender and perfectly marinated. The rice was moist and was like a pilaf.
