I'd passed by this restaurant on the way to my grandfather's house hundreds of times and never ate there, until today. Between us, we had a regular poutine, hot dogs, a hamburger, and a sriracha poutine. All in all, the food was solidly decent. The poutines were very nice. The hot dogs were what you'd expect, how much can you say about a steamy? The hamburger was messy. Too much condiment, the bun was sliding off the burger, and was difficult to eat cleanly. This place is a staple! Yes, the fries are good. Yes, the hot dogs are yummy, and their Italian poutine is one of the best I've tasted, (even though I don't personally believe that meat sauce belongs on a poutine. Shhh) But their Special Burger! Ouff, so good! The burger has Capicollo, hot peppers and slaw. It's messy, it juicy it's a perfect hometown burger. Take a road trip and try it out! read more

Drove out from Montreal to Mercier to try their famous poutine and the whole drive I kept thinking; this better be good... It was! Was it worth the drive? Not sure. One thing I like about Gregoire ..you ask? Not one thing...SEVERAL THINGS!!! You go to Gregoire's when you need that junk food artery clogging staples fix. Hot dogs, hamburgers, pogos & of course fries (I'm so excited) These folks have it down pat. The food is delish & the efficiency & politeness of the staff is amazing!!!!! On top of which you are supporting a local business To me Gregoire's is the ideal place to not only enjoy this type of food but to enjoy. They also used to serve an amazing breakfast & open at 8:00 AM. Currently no breakup butsure eventually will be up & running. So please note currently they hours of operation are 11:00 - 21:00h. This place is always crowded. Nothing wrong with that, it's the proof of how locals and peoples from other regions come to enjoy the amazing poutine. I love the way they are organized and get your meal out in no time. What stunned me, was no tips rule. To me, not that I can't want to give tips, it's an indication that the staffs are doing a good job because they are well paid and not relying not on service to get paid. Gregoire's was a local institution in the town of Ste-Martine until they moved to Mercier a few years ago. I remember stopping for a steamie (hot dog) and fry with my grand mother when I was a wee boy. At the time it was a little hot dog stand, much different than the current version in Mercier. Gregoire's is not a large fast food joint. You can get the typical stiff like hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, etc. You can also get clubs, chicken sandwiches and other stuff. The service at the counter is great, really, it's great. Usually one of the owners or relatives are at the counter. I don't know how they do it, but they make you feel like they care. Care about what you might ask? I don't know, but that's how I feel. Now the food. I really find it over priced and nothing special really. Hot dogs are nothing special, same type as those you buy at the grocery store. Hamburgers are good, but no better. They are also on the small side for the price. The poutine's are a step up. The fries & sauce are good, and the cheese to fry ratio seems adequate, but again, high in price for what you get. Overall, it's an ok place to go if you're in the area and in a hurry. For myself, the only reason I go is when I'm out voted by the group I'm with. It's not because it's terrible, it's because I feel there are better options close by for the same dollar value. read more

If you are in the Mercier area and want to chow down on some seriously delicious Casse-Croute grub, this is your place. Hell it's worth the long drive we took. Club Sammich AWESOME. Cheeseburgers AWESOME. French Fries AWESOME. The place is spotless; the service is great and friendly, lots of seating room, but the lunch lineups can bust the block. I know this place is one of Mercier's best known joints, but I don't see it. I had 2 dogs and of course, as usual, had to try the poutine. It wasn't awful, but the sauce wasn't up to par, and the fries seemed a little raw. Maybe, I just went at the wrong time, but I won't be rushing over there to quench my poutine craving. We have been going to Gregoire's for many years. The owner and atmosphere there is very friendly and the food generally is good especially the fries. However, today around 3:00 pm on April 23,2014, we were very disappointed with the fries. They seemed to have been sitting around for awhile they were only warm and seemed dried up. We brought this to the attention of the cashier and she offered to replace them. We declined her offer. It wasn't very busy and maybe the fries were sitting there too long. They were not hot and crispy like usual. We have always considered Gregoire's to have the best fries around....but not so today. read more

Service chaleureux, gens heureux; le tout dans une ambiance familiale, villageoise et bruyante. Il se retrouve à proximité de Montréal et vaut bien le détour. Le nouvel établissement est doté d'une salle à manger qui peut accueillir davantage de clients.
