Fondue with bread, the potatoes are kept warm in the red and white plaid bag.

I wanted to give a review because all the others seemed to be from years ago. Yes, it's still open. Wait staff is very friendly, speaking perfect English. Ambiance was very nice, old world small restaurant style. Food was excellent. We had the cheese fondue. It is enough for two and comes with potatoes and bread. My son had the roast beef special and it was very good as well. I had the salad with bacon, egg and tomatoes in an Italian dressing. It was huge portions and delicious!! I also had two glasses of a delicious white wine and our bill was around $100 Swiss Francs. It was worth it.

Not bad for Switzerland

After doing a lot of research, and the hotel concierge also suggesting this place, hubby and I headed there for lunch as we took a break from walking around the hills of Lausanne. The concierge made a reservation for us, but we could have walked in easily for lunch. I immediately felt comforted when we walked in. The waiter spoke English and everyone was SO FRIENDLY. So I didn't feel intimidated at all. The chef/owner is also out and about chatting with everyone... even us obvious Americans! We ordered drinks and relaxed a bit, and enjoyed people watching all the locals. We split the dandelion salad... Had to try it! I enjoyed it more than hubby did. The greens are a little bitter, but the egg and lardons create a nice balance. I ordered fondue and hubby had the raclette sandwich. Both were amazingly rich and delicious. The decor and location are great as well. It was a perfect first meal in a wonderful Swiss city!

The hotel is a luxury five star hotel property. The owners of the Hotel D'Ouchy also own the Lausanne Palace, which is why all Hotel D'Ouchy gets get free access to the Lausanne Palace spa facilities. The facilities are numerous and you easily spend the day there, without ever even getting a service. Their is a sun room, outside terrace, fitness area, indoor pool, hot tub, sleeping room, hammam, dry sauna, juice bar and cafe, and treatment rooms. You are provided with a robe and slippers if needed upon entering. The changing rooms are small and there is very limited locker space. They have Aveda shampoo and shower gel so you don't need to bring that with you. They also have cheap flimsy combs in case you forget, but I recommend you bring your own as they are VERY difficult to use. They also have complimentary tooth brush w/ mini toothpaste to utilize. Also, there is only one bathroom in the changing area and two showers. The fitness area is stocked with the newest high end equipment. My only complaint is that it is VERY hot in the room and there are no fans. The pool is also VERY warm, it didn't seem like there was any difference in temperature between the pool and hot tub. I couldn't do very many laps without over heating. The dry sauna was INCREDIBLY hot. The atmosphere is relaxing, the decor is modern with Turkish touches, and everything is very clean. Their is free Aveda hot tea available to drink, and water bottles available in the fitness room. My favorite spot had to be the sleeping room, dark room with beds laid out with big cushy duvets. It was a fantastic place to catch a nap. My only complaint is that the temperature could be turned down a couple of notches. To note, their are separate hammam and dry sauna for men and women.

Super hip, botique hotel, very central location. Downstairs is a restaurant coffee shop/bar. On…read morethe roof is a cool bar! Check in was smooth. We got there early and they held our bags. Rooms were modern and very small. VERY SMALL. Like the toilet and shower are just at the foot of the bed, sort of like a cubical in an office and the sink placed in between. So make sure you go with someone you are comfortable with in a very very small space. They are quite efficient with the use of such a small space, providing hooks and hangers for clothing and leaving space under the bed for your stuff, and somehow there was room for a small desk, great decorations and murals throughout. We had a revolving peace shaped red disco light in our room, does it get any better than that!? The little, thoughtful extra touches like the free welcome drink and gift (little music box) help a little in making up for the smallness! Coffee machine in the room made delicious coffee and the snacks and drinks provided are free! They give you ear plugs and condoms too! Apparently on the weekends it can get loud. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room so it being small wasn't a problem. The lobby and rooftop bar are great spots to hang out in and there is free wifi throughout the hotel and bars. Parking is close and they have a voucher that makes it 15 instead of 28 dollars. Would stay here again.

One the lake, beautiful weather, people, and of courses my stunning date. We went here on August 2nd, to eat. I wanted to check this out just because of the location. The bruschetta was great. I love tomatoes and bread with some olive oil and balsamic. How do you say no to this? It is delicious. We split a pizza, and it was delightful. Nothing overly filing because I mean we had some other places to try. The service was great, being tourists with backpacks, we felt like there was no judgement. We had a airol spritz like at the cafe du centre. Again, such an amazing drink and maybe we had a couple that day. It was pretty awesome. The lower reviews here, I mean, like for real, grow up homies.

Yikes. Restaurant Le Lacustre is a restaurant you've been to many, many times before. Beautiful…read moreatmosphere and view, but such a tourist trap that the service is awful and the food is mediocre. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? You've got a mixed back here. The atmosphere, unquestionably, is fantastic namely on the count that you're on the shores of Lake Geneva with one of the best views one can have. That's the good. Now, the bad is that service is awful - full stop. Slow, grumpy, yadda yadda yadda. No Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? 22,00 CHF for a full English Breakfast isn't something I haven't seen before, but in those previous situations I received a feast to be sure. I initially thought this too was a feast, but it turned out to be a feast predominantly of beans. More on that later, but for Lausanne and the atmosphere the price point wasn't quite fully unreasonable. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Looking at the picture, you might suspect I was initially quite excited for this - I was. It looked great, it looked complex, and it looked like a unique iteration of the full english in bowl form. Interesting! Unfortunately, it was in practice far less complicated, because underneath it was really all just beans with the rest sprinkled on top. So, so, so, so many beans, and they took over the entire dish not in the good way. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? I would not. No Star.
