Items, I should say, that are specifically chosen because of the quality and commitment involved in making them. Nothing here is mass-produced, nothing is thoughtlessly thrown together. The store, comprised of a few small rooms, is attractively laid out. -visiting the shop is a visual treat. Herr Bodewig carries unique and interesting consumables primarily from Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Italy. A list of his 'partners' can be found via the Spezerei Bodewig website. The location of this shop is pretty prime. Located in the Sankt Johanns Vorstadt, one is able to enjoy a view overlooking the Rhein from a very small plaza directly adjacent the shop. Herr Bodewig stocks four to five different types of locally roasted Haenowitz and Page coffee, a favourite of mine. Another new-found fave is Italian brewed '32' beer, from 32 Via dei Birrai. They brew a variety of lovely ales from light to dark and much in between that are meant to be paired with food. I've sampled already the red amber and was not disappointed. This shop is great when one is looking to 'wow' a special someone (or one's self) with a gift, or when one is looking to support small businesses from around Western Europe. I would encourage any and all to stop by and support this lovely, little shop!

Through the beauty of Yelp, found this spot & what a fantastic find! Most important note that the…read morelocation is actually Moléson and not Gruyères like the address noted. I have attempted to update this Yelp address but worst case, go to google to see the correct address.....in Moléson Farm animals & rollercoaster landmarks helped to ensure we were in the right spot We parked at the bottom of the gravel road in an empty lot across the street - the road leading to the fromagerie is pedestrian only, so this will be your closest parking. Small incline leads you to deliciousness. There is a small case of cheeses and meats to the left and the restaurant is to the right. Very traditional setup with wooden tables and benches. We loved it from the first minute! We ordered the macaroni with cheese (it was penne but outstandingly scrumptious). The cheeses and caramelized onions were the perfect blend Also enjoyed the croûte with an egg.......this is much like a croque without the meat......it was heaven! As we ere lucky enough to find this lace at the beginning of our stay in the Gruyère district, you better believe we'll be coming back for that fondue!

There are a lot of farm animals at the restaurant for the kids to play with and there is even a roller coaster adjacent to the restaurant that they can ride on. The scenery was just particularly beautiful and it was a beautiful day celebrating with friends. We had cheese fondue bears and lots of fun!

I'm chuffed that I went all the way to Bern to eat at Werner Rothen's restaurant. This is now one…read moreof my favourite restaurants. Werner Rothen is a well-travelled, creative and exceptionally passionate chef de cuisine. The restaurant's fish cuisine is particularly exceptional. The lobster (poached with vanilla and served with verjus, apple and coconut milk) was truly inspired, beautifully presented on Hering Berlin plates, Chef Rothen's signature dish. The restaurant's amuse bouches are also quite spectacular. Head pastry chef Gerald Guerin is canton Bern's best pastry chef, one of Switzerland's best. Chef Rothen allows him a lot of freedom. He constantly surprises guests with a first class bread selection, wonderful pre-desserts, daring and delicious desserts and perhaps the most varied, dainty friandises that I've seen so far. His desserts are also very emotional, often use rather ordinary ingredients (like Bounty, Snickers and Ovomaltine) and take gourmets back to their childhood sheer genius! The restaurant offers great value for money, which can't be said of every restaurant with a Michelin star and 17 Gault Millau points. My insider's tip: Put your trust in Gerald Guerin and let him play for you. I let him freely serve me whatever he wanted for CHF 50.- and boy, was I surprised! I enjoyed an amazing chocolate Variation, made with luxurious Valrhona coverture, including brioche and home-made Nutella. Our lunch was one of the best we have had in Switzerland sitting outside on a lovely patio. We had a salad with chicken breast and a stuffed zucchini with olives, feta, and sundried tomatoes over a cheese risotto. Fabulous!
