I recently found out about Restaurant Depot...an huge store that's nation-wide filled with food and equipment supplies that restaurant or catering owners need. They sell food supplies in huge quantities more than BJs or Costco, so you can get an idea. The items are boxed not bagged due to the quantity of the items. Make sure you come with an empty car trunk to fill all the things you need. There isn't a lot of employees walking around to help, so you're pretty much on your own to find the items. WARNING...when going inside the refrigerated area it is FREEZING they even have about 2 jackets hanging at the entrance if you need it. You will need it. I can't last long in there; I have to go every 10 minutes lol! They have plenty of parking, but it gets very hectic depending on the time you go. read more

The customer service here is next to nonexistent. It's as if asking an associate in this location, I cannot speak for other locations, is an inconvenience. I work for a multinational company and we do not purchase here often but in the event that an order is missed we would purchase goods to hold us off til deliver. My recent visit was for straws. I can tell you I'll give our business to any provider before I return here. This place is a wholesale supplier for restaurants/caterers, but anyone can gain access to the membership. Once you do, anyone can walk in and shop and pay with cash or credit card as long as they have the membership card present - no ID required. Signing up is free, too, and all you need is a Tax ID of any corporation. If the Tax ID is classified as Tax-Exempt, you don't even have to pay tax. I believe you can even make purchases on the same day you sign up (although I'm not certain). Once you're in, it's kinda easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of merchandise they have to buy in there but try your best not to. Try to do a little reconnaissance on your first visit without the intent of buying anything and take notes on the prices - they're not always as good as they seem. With that said, there are still plenty of deals to be found in there. I know I usually get charged about $5 for a tiny box of Mixed Greens from Milam's and i get roughly 10X that amount for about the same price (sometimes less, depending on the time of year). This is also a must-go pit stop before any large BBQ party where you wanna save a little cash on the main events, burgers and hot dogs. These are big, wholesale quantities so be careful and try only buying what you will use and avoid stocking up on perishables. Most meats can be individually wrapped and frozen. I recommend: -Produce (greens, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, herbs) -Meats (ground beef, pork loin, eye of round, smoked salmon) -Cooler (cheeses, frozen appetizers, ice cream) -Dry Good (drinks, chips, candies, olive oil) Stay away from: kitchen equipment, plastic containers, and eggs/milk. You'll need a membership & if your business is Tax-Exempt, you can get your card for free. There are 2 locations but I prefer the OG one in Allapattah because it brings back memories of my childhood. Plus, where else can you buy literally one packet of meat that can feed 50 people. Don't even ask about the parking, it's a disaster but that's because we live in Miami and people don't know how to drive. This place has been around since 1971 and is the glue that keeps the best Miami restaurants stocked. It's meant for resale purposes so don't expect much help down the aisles. It's almost like a secret- I love it when people are like "What's Jetro?" If you don't speak Spanish, they treat you like absolute trash. I had been standing in line at least 20 minutes because the guy in front of me was having technical difficulties so another cashier opens up a register but she goes and gets the 5 people that are in line behind me and rings them up at a different register and she told them to go to her line in Spanish also. Now this isn't the first, second, or third incident I've had at this location but it was the one closest to my house when i lived in Miami lakes but now I've moved to Miramar and this location can kiss my natural BOOTY. Part of the reason i moved out of Miami lakes because so many stores around their have become Spanish only. Have people working dealing with customers that don't speak nor understand English. What kind of foolishness is that. This isn't cuba! One time i ordered a pizza and the driver didn't speak nor understand English and he was lost. I had to call the store and give the directions to one of the workers and she had to call him and relay the directions in spanish. Of course he didn't wait around i guess Jn his mind, "i don't understand her oh well" because he took my pizza back to the store, and you can imagine what my pizza looked like by this time. But this location needs to get it together i will be spreading the word about how funky you are with CERTAIN customers. Closed to the public. I'm an amateur, home chef with a wide food curiosity lucky enough to have a wife who owns a business and is able to shop here. For a food nerd like myself this place is a paradise, a wonderland. But most do not share my enthusiasm. Most of the clientele is not here for fun like me, they're here for business. My favorite items are sushi grade fish and other sushi items, cases of glass bottled Orangina, any of the fish seafood from the seafood counter especially octopus, clams and mussels, meats, to go boxes which come in handy for leftovers. They have nearly everything you'd need to supply and run a restaurant as their namesake implies. The refrigerated section is exceptionally cool to me, pun intended. It takes up about 1/4 of the store and is one big self contained area. Jackets adorn both entrances so you can walk through without freezing to death. Shopping carts here are more like something you'd see at home depot than you would at your neighborhood grocery store. Parking can be challenging in peak hours but is located under cover which is nice for south Florida's unpredictable weather. read more
