The woman who helped us at the front desk was smiling, kind, and incredibly helpful as we asked questions. Later, when I came down and talked with a gentleman about getting some amenities to help my wife who is in a wheelchair, he was more than accommodating and even offered to change our rooms if that would be more convenient. The rooms were clean and well lit, spacious enough for my kids to spread out a bit compared to some of the cramped quarters we had in Amsterdam. They did have amenities like a gym with basic equipment and a restaurant, but I didn't use either, so I cannot attest to whether or not they were good quality.

Granted, neither am I when I am in a new country and not speaking the native tongue, but usually at least bartenders start chatting with me. Last night, all that changed! I made new friends and the bartenders were great. They had a nice selection of wines and patiently poured me a few samples before picking the one I preferred. They kept the drinks coming quickly. They also have bar snacks including hard boiled eggs, apparently quite popular with the Dutch! This was definitely a local spot and I'm told that Meent is a really up and coming area.

So nice that we could drop off our luggage after our cruise and they also let our friends store their luggage as well, since our room was not ready early in the day. The hotel is so centrally located near museums, shops and restaurants. We even walked by the hotel on our Free Walking Tour Rotterdam (which I would highly recommend). Our city view room was so comfortable. Lots of space with a large desk and a couple of chairs. Beautiful views of Rotterdam from the oversized windows. Definitely add breakfast. Love the huge selections of fresh Dutch cheeses, smoked salmon and thinly sliced beef. The bread was so delicious, especially the brown bread with fig and nuts. The bread pudding was a nice breakfast indulgence. The orange juice was so fresh. Grab a latte or cappuccino to start your day. The outside garden is so peaceful for breakfast. If you didn't get enough steps, there is a small gym, but after 26,000 steps, I just relaxed in the sauna late at night. Had the space to myself which was a nice bonus. Highly recommend this hotel for an overnight stay in Rotterdam. One of our favorite hotels for our Holland/Norway/Paris Olympics vacation. Got a great deal on Booking.com. The hotel was modern, clean, and well maintained. The room was spacious and we had no issues. Despite our room located along a busy street, we did not have issues with sleep quality. We've only seen (rather than tasted) their other food from a distance, but everything looks like a well-made and inspired fusion of styles. It was covered in sauce and mixed with so many ingredients I couldn't discern the taste of the lamb or even if it was raw or not. I would NOT recommend this. The duck was cooked well, and it was nice to have seaweed salad, but it didn't wow me. My husband got the mackerel and UMAMI duck and enjoyed how fresh the mackerel was. For the lunch, I got black bean beef tenderloin. The tenderloin is extremely tender and juicy, but the sauce is ladened with salt and a bit much. Luckily, it comes with rice and noodles to balance the flavor out. I would've loved this more if I was high... should've gotten high. I also got the pork belly, which was good.
