Their beer selection reliably features several conventional Brand beers, but venturing beer geeks will surely find a brew they've never seen in one of the quickly rotating taps. In addition to serving up a variety of local and international beers, Stadsbrouwhuis also brews their own tasteful ales. Though their (very affordable) vegetarian dishes won't fill you up for a night of drinking, their crunchy and thickly sliced French fries do a fine job. We've only seen (rather than tasted) their other food from a distance, but everything looks like a well-made and inspired fusion of styles. As for their snacks: they're on the pricey side but very generous. Finally, the friendly staff is always excited to help you in beer-mergency situations. And in the rare occasion that their descriptions don't trigger your taste buds, you're always welcome to have a free taste. All in all, Stadsbrouwhuis is ideal for adventurous tasting and memorable conversations. But if you just have time to drop by on your way to a social event, be sure to pick up a swing-top bottle that's filled with anything from tap.

My brother and I shared our portions with each other. Both the tuna and salmon were tastefully seasoned. The portions were a good deal for the price, but I'd say the salmon sandwich beat the tuna sandwich in portion size. The plate also comes with a simple and refreshing salad. They charged us for water and it was a little expensive considering they only gave us a tiny bottle. Overall it was 10€ per person per person, so a little expensive but not bad for Rotterdam.

The staff speak a great level of English (which is common for the Dutch) and mine was very friendly as well. I appreciated her help in translating some of the menu items (cos they don't have an English menu). The wait to take and give out my order was long tho, so if you are really hungry, I don't suggest going here cos you will be waiting as it's really busy at lunch or dinner. Anyway, I got the black Angus steak. They cooked it to my liking and the sauce on it was the perfect match. It was served with a humongous bowl of fries and salad/coleslaw which I both loved. The fries were a crispy perfection and the salad was fresh and had a balanced flavor. My hunger was definitely satisfied by this place!

So nice that we could drop off our luggage after our cruise and they also let our friends store their luggage as well, since our room was not ready early in the day. The hotel is so centrally located near museums, shops and restaurants. We even walked by the hotel on our Free Walking Tour Rotterdam (which I would highly recommend). Our city view room was so comfortable. Lots of space with a large desk and a couple of chairs. Beautiful views of Rotterdam from the oversized windows. Definitely add breakfast. Love the huge selections of fresh Dutch cheeses, smoked salmon and thinly sliced beef. The bread was so delicious, especially the brown bread with fig and nuts. The bread pudding was a nice breakfast indulgence. The orange juice was so fresh. Grab a latte or cappuccino to start your day. The outside garden is so peaceful for breakfast. If you didn't get enough steps, there is a small gym, but after 26,000 steps, I just relaxed in the sauna late at night. Had the space to myself which was a nice bonus. Highly recommend this hotel for an overnight stay in Rotterdam. One of our favorite hotels for our Holland/Norway/Paris Olympics vacation. Got a great deal on Booking.com. The woman who helped us at the front desk was smiling, kind, and incredibly helpful as we asked questions. Later, when I came down and talked with a gentleman about getting some amenities to help my wife who is in a wheelchair, he was more than accommodating and even offered to change our rooms if that would be more convenient. The rooms were clean and well lit, spacious enough for my kids to spread out a bit compared to some of the cramped quarters we had in Amsterdam. They did have amenities like a gym with basic equipment and a restaurant, but I didn't use either, so I cannot attest to whether or not they were good quality.

Their lunch two-course menu is only 16 euros and gets you four small plates. You pick two small plates for the appetizer and two small plate for the main course. However, the "small" plates for the main course are massive and more than enough food than you need for lunch. For the appetizer, I can the lamb tartare. It was covered in sauce and mixed with so many ingredients I couldn't discern the taste of the lamb or even if it was raw or not. I would NOT recommend this. However, I could see a Dutch person's palate being more accustomed to this because of the flavors (I'm American). I also got the UMAMI duck. The duck was cooked well, and it was nice to have seaweed salad, but it didn't wow me. My husband got the mackerel and UMAMI duck and enjoyed how fresh the mackerel was. For the lunch, I got black bean beef tenderloin. The tenderloin is extremely tender and juicy, but the sauce is ladened with salt and a bit much. Luckily, it comes with rice and noodles to balance the flavor out. I would've loved this more if I was high... should've gotten high. I also got the pork belly, which was good. My husband also got the pork belly, but instead, got the halibut. The halibut was a great choice as they cooked it to flaky perfection. It came with a puree on the side that went with it all, but they also added mint gel, which tasted like toothpaste. Overall, as an Asian foodie fanatic, this Asian with a French twist menu was not for me. It is more for the Dutch tongue as things are saltier and saucier. The food is of good quality, and the value is off the charts as you get a lot of food with great service, but giving this 5 stars is really stretching it. Perhaps, it's because I went for lunch? (Two stars is for the food itself; three is for the service)
