This has to be my favourite place to eat in Frankfurt and surroundings, and if I could, I would…read moregive it 6 stars. The food served is rustic German, with a particular focus on Hessian specialities such as Grüne Sosse (a fresh sauce made from a number of herbs and sour cream), Rippchen (boiled ribs) and Bratkartoffeln (sautéd potatoes). The rustic aspect comes across not only in the tasty type of food served but also the portion sizes, which are absolutely enormous. The menu is extensive, with all sorts of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, as well as salads and lots of desserts. You should definitely order a jug of local apple cider to accompany your meal. Also make sure to visit the Lahmer Esel in summer, so that you can take full advantage of the wonderful beer garden at the back, which is particularly suited to families with children. Service is usually very quick and prices are very reasonable. Easy to reach by public transport (take the U3 to Niederursel) or by car. Altogether, a wonderful place!

Must try restaurant in Oberursel!…read more On our last evening in Germany, we were very fortunate to have a reservation in this popular restaurant. The food and experience highly exceeded my expectations! Located in Oberursel, this restaurant is within 5 minutes walk from the closest train stop. The restaurant is highly popular with the locals, and I would recommend making a reservation in advance. The restaurant is medium sized, and it is being run by a lovely lady. She said since they update their menu regularly, there was no English menu available. However, she spoke very good English and made excellent recommendations. You could also use Google translate to understand the menu. The menu was very simple, with appetizers, salad, soups, entrees, and desserts. There was also a very extensive drink menu in the second half of the menu. For my meals, I ordered the small size salad and the mushroom risotto entree. The restaurant manager said the mushrooms were hand picked from the wild. The risotto was among one of the best I had ever had, with the perfect combination of cheese, creamy risotto, and flavorful mushroom. Others in my table ordered the pulled pork, fried chicken, beef goulash, and mushroom pastas. The plating presentation was excellent and everyone raved about their meals. Our total for 6 came to 192 euros, which was a steal given the quality of the meal. The service was excellent and the food came quickly. Don't miss it! Highly recommend!
