The cafe is quite big and also has a terrace in front of it. There are a lot of seats and tables but still they could be all taken if you come here during the weekend because it's such a popular place. You can come here for coffee with pastries, lunch with sandwiches/salads and a fresh juice or drinks and snacks. I tried a cheese cake with berry rose sauce and beetroot nut cake and they were both delicious. The coffee is also nice. The interior is lovely. Lots of plants and cute decoration and the whole place just has this super chill vibe. The staff is friendly and the prices are good. This is my new favorite place in Utrecht!

My great friend and I were in Utrecht for a couple of days and decided to rent bikes and join the crowd and bike all around town. I had heard of this legendary pancake house in the woods and after a little bit of research realized it would make the perfect bike excursion for the two of us. So, we got all fitted and fixed up on our rental bikes and wearing NO helmets, started GPSing our way out of downtown, headed for the Theehuis Rhijnauwen. It wasn't too bad getting to the entrance to the forest, only a few close scrapes, but once we crossed over, we were biking in the open air with the most beautiful green spaces surrounding us. The rest of the ride was pretty fantastic. We saw friends biking in parallel sync, chatting away, and only wished that I was able to master my bicycle enough to do that too. Anyway, we arrived soon enough and found a spot to lock up our bikes. The place was hopping, but we got a table outside pretty easily. We were looking out on the greenest grassy field with two mini donkeys prancing around on a grassy knoll. The ONLY downside was that I had pre-ordered a tea service for the two of us, which was not great food-wise. I watched so many plates of big pancakes pass by longingly. Our tea service food was a lot of ok sweets and some salami, and then more sweets. Oof. On the other hand, there was no way I was going to let the disappointment of the food ruin the overall magic. Every time I looked over at one of those mini Dutch donkeys prancing around, they winked right back at me.

There's seating outside, great with this summer weather! The restaurant is located in the middle of Bunnik, a cute small town near Utrecht. It's perfect to combine a long walk in Amelisweerd / Rhijnauwen with having dinner in Wapen Van Bunnik. It's something my dad and I have been doing for years. The outdoor seating area is located partly outside, partly underneath a roof, so it's possible to remain dry in case of bad weather. The inside is decorated with dark wood. It's possible to eat at the bar, which we occasionally like to do. Staff is very friendly and caring. Although it was very sunny yesterday, a breeze came up and I got cold in my sleeveless top. I asked to be seated inside, and instead, they put the outside heater on for me, because we would be the only one's seated inside if we choose to do so. The staff thought that would be a little disheartening, so started the heater for me. Ok, maybe not a very ecological solution, but it was so kind of them! And next time, I'll bring my sweater. After months of anticipation I one day found myself across the street at Café Ledig erf (review will follow, not a fan) with classmates as a little goodbye "thing" and then suddenly saw it: Meneer Smakers Ledig Erf! It's here! It's open! I immediately texted le boyfriend about having burgers as an early dinner, but he had plans and luckily my two besties were sitting beside me and had time for an early dinner.
