The food: the chef is definitely a magician of ingredients and presentation. I had my best risotto ever. The arugula added very exquisite taste to the risotto, and the lobster tail and scallops were very fresh. I also had the soup it was fantastic as well. I didn't know it's a Michelin star restaurant until I read the other review here, and I found it's true. From my Michelin restaurant experiences I think one star is very humble. Definitely should go there if you ever close to the area. There's peaceful and beautiful lake and this gourmet place to enjoy the food of the day. The amuse bouches were delicious, but the non-pastry highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the luxurious foie gras variation, the best of its kind. They offer a six-course gourmet menu for just CHF 140.-, great value for money. Be careful: You'll feel VERY full afterwards! The restaurant offers the best classic Swiss desserts I've had so far. What would be boring and lazy in other restaurants is made fascinating by the amount of love and attention put into the desserts. Marc Hohl, chef August Minikus' sous-chef, makes a cream parfait with figs in a spicy red wine jus that are just to die for! And their vanilla ice cream is the best in the country. We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious coffee and array of baked goods we had never seen before. By this time in our trip, we were accustomed to the highly developed baking game in this area of Europe. We tried a couple of items and found them characteristically sweet an refined. New to us was the table reservation in a coffee shop. In the US tables are always first-come-first-served in a small cafe like this. Several tables were unoccupied, but had "reserved" signs on them. We asked and all had been reserved somehow. We chose to sit outside on seats that had furry pads on them, which were amazingly warming. We were quite comfortable, enjoying the warming effect of the drinks and the chairs in the chilly lake air. This place seemed like a chain, but I'm not certain. Would definitely recommend and repeat if we are in Arbon again!

Inside against the back wall is a large blackboard with all the food and drink options, and to the left is a small kiosk that sells Movenpick ice cream. The prices are actually really great. You can get a sandwich for 7 CHF, and they offer some warmer dishes for 13-22 CHF. There are also plenty of sides that you can buy if you just want a light snack. I tried the Movenpick ice cream, because all the Swiss people rave about it. For two scoops it's 6CHF, Swiss prices at their finest, but what the heck. The pistachio was incredible, and the mango cream was alright. I was really happy sitting outside enjoying the beautiful view with my yummy ice cream. The room was quite a bit larger than some of the other hotels where we stayed. The hotel itself is small (9 rooms total). Each room is accessible via a long hallway off the restaurant/bar on the same floor. There was no refrigerator in the room and no air-conditioning. Instead of a number, the room is uniquely named. Our room was decorated in red - red sheets, red towels, red desk. We enjoyed the simple spash of color. The garden off to the side of the hotel is quite large with three rabbits larger than a small dog. There are two rooms in the garden inside large concrete pipes. Simple cold breakfast of bread, cheese,and cold meats. Simple Restaurant; Simple Food - Expensive for the type of food, but that is typical in Switzerland. Great hangout on a warm evening. Yelpers didn't have a lot to say about the local fare, but we did find this place here. It's good that we were able to read some reviews because we had to pass many places to get here. Glad we made it. We sat in the sunroom (glass enclosed) and were relieved by the air conditioned comfort.. It had been a long, hot day. We started with an order of bruschetta. This was done in a different manner than we are used to. Thin crusty breads topped with ripe sliced/seeded tomatoes, oil and fresh herbs.. Simple and delicious.. Balsamic on the table. My wife ordered a spinach/ricotta ravioli with a meat and mushroom sauce that she really enjoyed. I had Penne pasta with bolognese sauce and got a healthy sized portion.. Pasta was perfect.. Cooked al dente and the sauce was delicious. We were too full for dessert, but noticed on the way out that they looked pretty delcious. The restaurant was a nice walk (about a mile from our hotel) and they offer a parking lot for those that are driving. Indoor and outdoor seating and very friendly service.
