All you can eat Charbonnade for CHF 52. Only available for dinner and comes with green olives,…read morepickled pearl onions, hot peppers, 5 different sauces, and some candied fruits. The bread basket had plain white bread slices that were very fresh and very good. There was also a basket outside the bathroom with bite-size Daim bar candies, which we pilfered a bunch of every time one of us went to the bathroom. So yummy... We got Pommes Allumette (skinny fries, AKA matchstick potatoes) as a side, and the meat and fries were all-you-can-eat. They also served us an eggplant appetizer marinated in balsamic vinegar. Normally I don't like really sour things, but the appetizer was very tasty. One of my friends doesn't eat meat, so she ordered the fish, and that was also all-you-can-eat. Our table of 6 shared two bottles of red wine (Atalayas, Ribera del duero) and sparkling water, and the bill came out to about 85 per person (not including tip). Dress appropriately, because the heat from the grill will make you HOT. I'm glad I wore a tank top to dinner. All-in-all, good fun and good eats. The thin beef steaks are quite lean and don't have much taste on their own, so you need to eat them with all the condiments. I'm not a huge fan of the skinny fries, but they are very French, so we all got them as sides, since we were in a French restaurant. Make sure you make a reservation, because they were fully booked out on a Friday night.

When I came here I was not expecting too much since it was grilled, non-seasoned/marinated meat with some basic sauces plus fries. But oh my: the quality of the meat was amazing and the grilled beef was de-li-cious! I didn't even need any of the condiments, just the beef was enough. It was so good that I was craving it for days. That being said, the condiments were quite good too, I really liked the mustard fruit and the peppers, they really complimented the meat. And oh, the fries, they were tasty and crunchy so I was for sure a happy trooper! Also, the service was prompt and correct. I must admit that we went on a rainy weekday when there were not that many other people so I am not sure if it is representative. Anyways: even my "not-so-keen on beef" friend also liked it too so enough said... I enjoyed my evening at La Cote and would go back if the right opportunity comes up!

Ksanet, Bianka and Rui were amazing in their own rights and definitely were humans first and Lumiere employees second and forth. Not only did they serve us but gave us a few moments from their tight schedules to walk us through about how we could make use of a Sunday ( Switzerland for the most part is closed on Sunday's and we were not prepared for that :( ). These folks had some amazing suggestions to make through and through and helped us a lot with our questions about Switzerland and travels in general. The ambiance was stunning and the place was packed and had moderate amount of noise in there attributing to the conversations. The interiors were pretty amazing and well thought out and depicted the history of Lumiere. We ordered a side salad, octopus with sliced potatoes, tuna tartare on avocado bed and for dessert we got ourselves the lime tart. The octopus dish was outstanding just like the tuna tartare where we enjoyed every bite slowly. The salad was put together very well and the dessert topped it all off to call it an evening. This place definitely should definitely be in your list to visit in Zurich and given its proximity to Zurich HB it's an easy decision to make ( even if you had to come out of your way to grab a bite here it will be so well worth it).

Another Perfect Dining Experience this year. Been traveling over three weeks in Europe and this has…read morebeen the best meal with the best service. Sad to say that we ordered the same exact lunches. The Veal Zurich Style served with Rosti and the White Asparagus served with a vinaigrette sauce. The prices have not changed since our last visit 12 months ago which is shocking. We did just order the small portion of asparagus. Our dishes arrived and they were beautiful. Perfect plating of delicious food. As we were eating I said "I wonder if I get a second portion this year as the prices haven't increased"...I wanted to savor every taste of veal and mushrooms in that gravy and tried to hold back on the potatoes. And then our server stopped by and ask if I was ready for the second serving. A big grin filled my face. The BEST Geschnetzeltes in Zuich!!! One can read my last review as we do not waiver on our thoughts about the restaurant, the service, the food and the atmosphere. Perfection in all aspects. Recommend booking in advance. And yes, one again Veltlinerkeller exceeded our expectations. The restaurant was totally full with locals which is always a great sign. The staff was the same which also says something these days. And thanks to the chef for preparing small special Togo package. It was greatly appreciated by friends in Basel. See you next year.

The lobster and oyster bar Zurich. And that's what they serve since 1935. Not impressed?…read more Switzerland is a land locked country. Some trivia perhaps? The restaurant was the first to serve oysters in Switzerland after WWII. Today, deliveries of live lobsters and oysters are made twice daily for each service. Dishes are prepared in the classic French style and incorporate modernist touches. Straight to it, some fresh shucked Belon oysters (8CHF ea). The real deal from France (not the imitation farmed in the States). Unlike any oyster I've tasted. Plump and briny with an unmistakable taste of copper (try putting a clean penny in your mouth and sucking on it) finishing with hazelnut oil notes (ie hazelnut but slight oxidation). You're either gonna love it or hate it. I loved it. More oysters? The Gilardeau (10CHF ea). From a single producer, considered the top oyster of France and one so coveted that the shells are actually laser engraved to prevent counterfeiting. Large, plump, good salinity beautiful creaminess with strong briny notes. It is absolutely worth the 10CHF the price. The lobster salad (42CHF) is excellent. More lobster than greens. The tail, simply poached, the claw fried golden brown in the lightest tempura batter. Fresh diced mango with a very tart bite add the acidity while creamy pureed avocado swirls and dots the plate. Fried rice crackers add texture. Very well balanced and refreshing dish. The lobster with champagne sauce(84CHF) is equally impressive. The tail and claws have been butter poached and sit in a very rich champagne cream sauce. No trace of alcohol, the sauce instead has the yeasty and acidic notes of champagne with a hint of sweetness. A foam version of the sauce atop the accompanying broccoli, peas and cauliflower compliments the vegetal flavor. The crunchy Venere rice with its unmistakable sandal wood notes is the perfect textural foil. Sadly no room for their tableside flambéed crepes Suzette that they are known for. Friendly and polished service. Fluent in English. Well chosen wine list with great selections from Switzerland. An unexpected find in Zurich. Outstanding. * At the time of this review 1CHF = 1USD

This is probably one of the pricier meals I've ever had but it was well worth it. If your in Zürich and near the main Zürich HB station, I highly recommend.

Jan 2026 * Solo I ate breakfast at Franzos. While the…read morescrambled eggs were passable and the bacon flabby, my review centers around its unfriendly service. I ordered hot tea, and used my teabag sparingly. When I asked for more hot water from a server, I was refused unless I paid for an additional tea again; it was against the rules she said. When I asked another server about it, he also said it was against the rules--but he would make an exception. I thanked him and he brought the hot water. The woman server then approached me and told me that I wasn't nice to ask another server. I told her that the restaurant's policy was unfriendly, that it didn't cater to a customer's reasonable wishes, and that it was good that the Zurich's custom was not to tip. I also told her that I would post a review of the restaurant and share my experience. Then the second server came back (the one who gave me more hot water) and asked if it was true that I would review the restaurant. I said yes--but only decided to do so when the first server told me I wasn't nice. Then he snatched my hot teacup away and showed me the door! There are too many places in Zurich to give your business; do not patronize this one. Leah (age 63)
