I went the use the toilet after ordering and when I came back I saw she brought my water, a bitter lemon soda (which we ordered) and two small glasses of rice wine. We didn't order the rice wine and thought it to be complementary since we had a long wait to order. We ordered two soups and two entrees. The soups took fifteen minutes to be served and the bowls were the size of finger bowls. So small after such a long wait. Our entrees took another twenty minutes to be served. Really? Fir wok food? We noticed another six parties entering the restaurant while we waited and all but one of them were served their entrees before us. The wait was noticeable. The entrees were average. Not exceptional but not awful either - just average. When we finally got our bill we paid it and didn't feel they earned a tip. When we returned to our hotel I noticed that we were charged 9.5 euros for the tiny glasses of cheap rice wine. I wish I had looked more carefully at the bill. We felt like we were robbed. We also noticed that the locals were given friendly, prompt service and that their portions were of proper size. So my advice is that this restaurant may be okay if they know you but if you're in Ahrensburg for business or touring, stay away from this place. They will serve you drinks that you did not order, make you wait as they take care of the locals first, and give you small portions. We were very disappointed as they ruined our evening with their rude service.

There was only one other couple seated in the restaurant before us when we arrived. We were left waiting quite a while to even place our orders. The lady was Sour faced and extreamly had an extreamly rude manner towards us. After ordering Soup which we were left waiting for we noticed other parties of people who seemed local residents arrived and were greeted more warmly and served much more efficently and promtly to the cold reception to which we received. They already had their orders way ahead of us. When we received our soup mind you which took what felt like to long a wait even for simple soup it was presented in finger sized bowls. When we looked at other patrons in the restaurant servings to compare with ours it was easy to gage that ours was miniscule a portion serving compared to their larger soup sized bowls. We were also served a water we ordered and bitter lemon soda drink, as well as two small rice wines in tiny wine nip spririt sized glasses which we did not order and presumed were complimentary due to the slow service we received. We were left to wait so much more longer and the wait was dragging out which seemed riddiculous and we were almost were about to pay for what we received and walk out when our meals arrived which where simple Asian style dishes not requiring much preparation or cooking time for wok cooked dishes, for the time which we were left to wait. They where nothing out of the ordinary that I couldn't cook at home if not better myself. We did not pay a tip at the end of the meals as we where most dissatisfied with the appauling service and did not feel that they they should be rewarded with a tip or earned one. Then after arriving at our hotel room we reviewed our bill and to our dismay discovered we were overcharged 9.50 Euro for the Rice wine drinks which we did not order at all and presummed where complimenary and free. The atitude of this restaurant is very rude, unwelcoming and incompetant towards non local visitors and tourists. I advise if you are not a local or resident of this area to stear wide clear away from it and save yourself the waste of time visting New Long Chinese Restaurant and the humilation of the poor service and treatment here in the public view of Local diners. This Restraurant spoiled our evening.

FOOD: If you've been in Thailand already, this place is a direct ticket back ther. If you haven´t, it is the perfect occassion to start diving into the culture. Portions are good and the quality of the food and taste reaches the expectations. I try a different dish every single time but I highly recommend the Pad Ka Prao with chicken. TIP: Pump it up by asking for an fried egg on top! PLACE: This is not a romantic place or area, so don´t plan your 1 year anniversary here. But it is the perfect place to have a quick lunch if you live or work in the area. Sabai Jai is my number 1 lunch place during work days. It is a restaurant for such occassions and not really for nights out or special events (bear that in mind). There is also a lot of parking available all the time and an Ubahn stop minutes if not seconds away. The restaurant is also very traditional, just watch out for little thai traditions here and there. SERVICE: I am still not sure about how friendly the staff is, but then again my expectations are pretty low in Germany. Somehow I feel they are always off in space instead of focusing 100% on the customer and a smile here and there would do no harm. However this is part of the whole experience at this restaurant. Food comes very quick too and you can see it being cooked as they have a relatively open kitchen. Mucho love, D.

Oh my good - Jenfeld. This Part of Hamburg is not really known as a top place to go. But "top"…read moreoften means a typical place for hipsters and or tourists. So - follow the stars of yelp and get surprised. To me Hoang Mai is one the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Hamburg. Uuuugh, its ugly here. First problem - the door is closed. In general you enter the restaurant via the shop beside. Hey if you solved this problem, the spartan interior and green walls may make you think "am I right here". YES YOU ARE!!! The waitress suddenly turned up, presented the menu. Asked If we are in first time. Explained all options of the menu (in really perfect German). Some of the food is vegetarian, but can be ordered with broth. In this case, broth is made of bones - no longer vegetarian at all. Good to now but anyway - bone broth, sounds really good! YOU ARE RIGHT HERE!!! Because most of the people here are Asians. One more point to assume the food is authentic! YOU ARE RIGHT HERE!!! Because the taste is mmmmmmmm really incredible. Portions are OK. Referring to the amount and quality, the price is ok, not cheap but neither expensive. So follow the stars - 'cause Yelp will help you to find the hidden stars!

But don't let that stop you from treating yourself to the most authentic and delicious vietnamese food you'll ever get this far away from Hanoi. And boy are you in for a treat. The food is amazing! Flavourful with a home cooked vibe to the dishes, served with fresh and fragrant herbs, spicy chilies and refreshing drinks. Satisfaction guaranteed! The service is efficient, friendly and accommodating. I once turned up with a friend of mine minutes after closing and they still served us and where so nice to us, even though we stalled their much deserved closing time. Thank you once again! The decor used to be typical to Asian Street Food restaurants (very basic) but they changed all that and redid the restaurant. Purists, regulars and people in the know may shrug off the redesign but I think its great. Hopefully people whom are not accustomed to asian Street Food won't be dissuaded by the backroom flair any longer. The little trip to Jenfeld is time well spent. As a tip, get there on a saturday or sunday morning. The place is bursting with people from all walks of life. Asian families dressed to the nines, groups of young people looking a little hung over from last night, old wrinkly asians all busy chatting away and most likely me, taking the whole scenery in, slurping my jumbo Pho and just being content. I'll see you there!
