One of the finest meals of my life on a cold winter night. Every Austrian city that relies on…read moretourism has a selection of various restaurants serving the same (nearly identical!) selection of traditional Austrian and Tyrolean favorites. You know the menu before you even see it. Anich is, in my opinion, the very best of them all. Be aware that the food is HEAVY and served in large portions. If you order one of the classic popular meat dishes (roast pork, schnitzel, goulash, etc) you should either be very hungry, prepared to share, or willing to ask for a takeout box. It's a ton of food and it's all stellar. I'm trying and failing to think of something we ordered there that was less than delicious and I can't. The service was not especially fast but I don't mark this kind of restaurant down for that because the meal is supposed to be a slow one. The local wine selection is excellent as is the beer. During a very crowded time you may be asked to share a large table with strangers or so we heard, but in my visits I never saw this happen. It was winter. Summer may be a different story. The building is lovely as are the several dining rooms. If you're looking for a light meal go elsewhere. If you want to be stuffed with dumplings, meat, gravy, and all that great stuff don't go elsewhere.

Food was very good, service was great and we were seated quickly without a reservation.read more

Austrian food in a cozy restaurant. It is a soft ambience with candle on table and ample seating…read more Got the spinach knodle which were a dumpling ball. It came with 3 huge balls but got sick of it. It would be a great complement to a main dish. The ravioli with herb stuffing was good but kinda rich. The best dish was the steak that came with grilled corn on cob (herb butter) and shrimp. The beef was tender and buttery. Do not get the pizza on kids menu ( looked dry like frozen). The desserts we got was the curd and blueberries. Also the apricot balls with some kind of cookie crumb coating that came with delicious ice cream. Overall, good local food at a reasonable price. The waitresses were friendly. They even have candies at the entrance

On one side a terrace overlooks the mighty Wilder Kaiser and the other a lawn shaded by old trees. Inside the decor is Austrian country house and the guests likely to be smart. The food - all local produce - will be imaginatively prepared in Austrian nouvelle style, but try and hold on for the sensational puddings - particularly the lovely heidelbeern (known locally as moosbeern and to me as myrtille)- pudding - but you'll have to be there in summer to get it. The local wines are absolutely delicious and although you will find plenty of the now internationally fashionable white Grüner Veltliner, try the red Zweigelt -Johann Topf or others - as well. This is a place for a very long weekend.
