Oh well, fortunately I do have the superpower when it comes to tolerating chilli, having been raised in Indonesia and grew up eating sambal (chilli sauce condiment from my country), so my very spicy Bombay aloo didn't really burn a hole in my throat. But holy crap that was spicy! I was dragged here by a Malmö dweller who frequently haunts this place when I admitted that I fancied Indian food for dinner. The decor is kitschy, as expected from this kind of place, but they do have good food compared to many Indian restaurants that I have been visited here in the far north. They have also a lot of different varieties compared to the usual biryani, masala etc and plenty of vegetarian options that might be interesting to try. Then again, I am not Indian, so I couldn't give out certification of authenticity when it comes to the food they're serving, but I would say they serve good food, plain and simple. Service was friendly and efficient, something that was probably a rarity in Copenhagen but quite the norm on the other side of the pond here in Sweden and I can't really say anything much than giving this place a four-star review. Yay for real spicy food!

I was in Malmö for a weekend with a friend and we felt like Indian. We were already in Old Town so…read morewe took a look at the Indian restaurants over there, but checked out prices and reviews on Yelp and decided to try Tasty Spot. We ended up making the whole 20 minute trek away from the central area to Tasty Spot - and boy, was it ever worth it! I definitely understand all the five-star reviews - it's not a fluke! It's a tiny little hole-in-the-wall of a place - you'd probably miss it if you're not specifically looking for it. The staff are SOO so friendly! They asked us kindly to sit and wait and said it might take a minute since they make everything fresh. They said we could pay afterwards so that we could order any additional items we wanted later. The menu is fantastic, and much more extensive than a lot of the Indian restaurants in Stockholm. The majority of Indian restaurants in Stockholm are owned by Bangladeshis and most of them have a sort of classic copy-and-paste menu, but here I saw dishes I had never heard of. I ordered biryani (I think it was called...?) and I don't honestly remember what my friend had, but we both were impressed. The food was absolutely delectable, and we got very large portions. The chicken biryani was out of this world, the yogurt sauce was a perfect complement to the fresh cardamom in the dish. We sat and chatted for probably almost two hours, and eventually the owner sheepishly asked us if we could pay because he had to close the cash register. He was so kind and cute and said he didn't want to kick us out, and he would love for us to stay, but he had to start closing the restaurant so his employees could go. He said that lots of customers come to him because they know they will always get fresh food and it's worth the wait. And I believe it! The experience seriously couldn't have been better - and the prices are amazing. So if you're in Malmö, go there, you won't regret it! Tasty Spot is the tastiest spot ever!

Sadly things must have changed recently on how they run this place…read more First of all, it felt a lot more like a pizzeria than an Indian joint. There was no real taste to what I ate beyond a little tiny bit of ginger. No spice, no nothing. Just spinach cooked beyond recognition and put with potatoes. Naan bread that wasn't warm, no butter, and not at all good. Rice that wasn't any good too. The crown on the turd was the manager or owner sitting at the table next to me and playing some video on his phone loud enough that I could hear it all. Sad. I know tons of people who'd love to have a chance at owning or running a restaurant and here's this guy serving shit boring food, watching shows on his phone, and generally not giving a shit.

I got a lunch offer for my choice of a couple dishes that came with rice and naan bread (which is a small extra cost). And it was a nice enough day to sit outside to eat without needing additional heat. Inside, the restrooms are upstairs (important information for those concerned about accessibility) and the available seating inside is unbelievable! So much inside space! Service is where things fell down a bit. We ordered at the outside counter/bar. The woman taking orders just seemed annoyed that we were even there. Then, she either said the wrong amount or didn't speak clearly enough when my friend asked how much a beer was. The single beer cost more than the main meal, I believe. So after ordering and pouring it, we then SAW the price and realized she didn't want to pay that much. But that was not a pleasant conversation to have with the server. So I swallowed the cost of the beer just to keep everything calm. But the ok-beer is not worth the cost. This Indian food place (the name made me think more Thai...but it is Indian) located in the Lilla Torg square, is competitive when it comes to price. But I think you could get much better service and probably better food at several of the other restaurants on the square.
