Visited Gabriel based on a friend's recommendation. It is Located in the Fish Church on the upper level. I was here on a Saturday and it does get busy so plan on a wait. Arrived around 1:30 and there were a couple of parties waiting on the steps for a table.
The greeter asked me if I wanted a drink while I waited-Tried the draft beer (local Pilsner-can't remember the name) and it was excellent. About 20 minutes later a spot opened up at the bar.
I wanted to try the soup but the portion is enough as a meal alone so I asked if I could have a 1/2 portion. One of the servers offered a shot of the soup instead and I happily accepted. It was delightful-creamy, rich, salty with a variety of seafood. A full serving would have definitely been enough for lunch.
For lunch, decided to go with the warm Shrimp Sandwich Gratin (the guy on my right really enjoyed it). The shrimp mixture is really creamy with mayo & heavy and would definitely go with the warm vs cold and the Au Gratin potato was excellent!
It was entertaining watching the guys prep the dishes while sitting at the bar. Cutting up lobsters, preparing seafood towers and creative desserts, these guys are culinary artists!
I ended up having a great conversation with one of the gentlemen behind the counter who I found out is the owner.
Great vibe, excellent food and service and worth the minor wait. Oh and the guy sitting to my left was raving about his Poached Halibut-hmm next time. read more
