This rest area is a rest area that you have to get off on exit 96 on Interstate 10 and go to the right. It was not overly inconvenient, just maybe a quarter mile off the highway and the rest area was clean and spacious. There are a few pavilions with picnic tables under them for people to sit down for either a meal or just to chill, there are the expected variety of vending machines, the usual hotel pamphlets and a nice amount of trees to provide shade. This is a good spot to stop for a break.

Wow! Look kids, an ancient relic.

Plentiful parking, some shade if the Sun is at the right angle, vending machines, space to walk around, space for pets and yes, clean restrooms for people. This was a nice rest and the quarter mile walking trail was great. There is another across the way for westbound traffic. They are not otherwise connected. When entering, cars will go to the left while trucks go to the right. Florida rest areas are open 24 hours a day. My visit to this rest area was on August 26, 2022. After traveling for a little while, it was time to take a break from driving and being on the road. This is the rest area we stopped at in Okaloosa County. The first stop at this rest area was to use the restroom. The restrooms were nice. They were pretty big for a rest area. They were also clean and well maintained too. Using the restroom isn't the only reason to stop at a rest area. I also took advantage of moving around and getting my body moving so that my legs don't cramp up while driving. They have a leg stretching trail, which is a little over a quarter mile in distance. There are spots here where you can take your pets to relieve themselves too, but pets are not allowed in the building (service animals only). There are several picnic tables, with some of them covered, as well as tree cover in the area too. This makes it a great place to stop for a bit. One of the signs here did surprise me a bit, as it noted that some organizations have permits to solicit at welcome centers and rest areas. We didn't encounter that on this visit, but it is good knowing this. Overall, the Okaloosa County Rest Area for I-10 East is very nice. There is something for everyone when it comes to taking a break, using the restroom, or even just taking in some of the sights or walking the stretch your legs trail. If your travels take you this way, this rest area is worth stopping in for a short bit.

Well if you drive a diesel rig you kinda know the drill at these fast flow fuel islands where you…read morecan pump hundreds of gallons in minutes - there is no pay at the pump options for private owners so you have to guess how much fuel you need and pre-pay at the fuel counter, pump your fuel then return inside for the actual receipt in the event you over pay, if you under pay you have to start the process over again which is a pain or simply accept that you under-fueled your rig and move on. Today I under estimated by a lot I pre-paid $200 and ended up with only 3/4 of a tank definitely a rookie mistake and with a number of truckers waiting across this multiple lane island I definitely wasn't going to start over and hold up the line so I moved up to the staging line and went inside to grab my receipt. The staff here was very friendly at the fuel counter and it's seems they put up with private owners while they cater to the over the road guys and in all fairness I understand why since they pump between $800 - $1,500 per stop. Most truckers know the drill and if an RV owner knows the protocol you usually get a hat tip which validates you belong to to the "diesel club" and respect the fact that these freight haulers are working and time is money. This location was pretty clean and the staff was out and about filling squeegee buckets with soapy water, wiping down the equipment and emptying trash dispensers, it definitely takes a team to keep this business moving efficiently. Looks like I'll be visiting another Love's in the near future being my sweetheart gets about 9 miles to the gallon on a good day if I don't push the pedal too hard...

I travel a lot, and this trip happened to be on my way back from seeing a medical specialist located over 9 hours from my home. The room and building are extremely dated and worn out. There were stains on the walls, bed and floor. The towels in the bathroom are kept disgustingly close to an exposed filthy pipe. I spilled my coffee on the floor and myself in the morning because the door sticks when you try to open it (a safety hazard). We asked for extra bedding and the person attending the desk when we checked in merely plopped a trash bag of linens on the floor for us to retrieve when we came back in from unloading our vehicle. The lady was friendly, but did not seem to care much. Also, I was traveling in a party of 5. I was given 2 water bottles upon arrival. The family that came in after me was given 4 bottles. The breakfast buffet was similar to other locations, except for the flies and non-working pancake machine. The worst part of all? The desk attendant who had the morning shift, Shaunn, stopped me when I came in from walking my service dog. He insisted that I sign a paper about my service animal and then said that this form is "required by Florida law"-- this was a lie, which has either been told to this employee as acceptable to say by his superiors, or it was his idea of intimidation to suit his doubts or judgment of my disability. I felt harassed and annoyed that he would lie to me. I told him I had never been asked to sign one before, but I signed to be cooperative so that I could finish packing up to leave. The problem is that I was inconvenienced and treated differently-- why? Because my disability isn't visible to this bored ableist man? I have had a service animal for several years, have traveled to at least 4 states with said animal, and have never ever been asked to sign a form such as the one I was handed. It asked what my dog did, and stated that I would be charged $250 should they find any "stains" when they go over my room with a black light. Do I get proof they checked it before my stay? I doubt it. Let's be serious- this is a $150 hotel in the middle of nowhere, near a prison in Florida. Do you think it will be clean when checked with this so-called black light? Or is this form a type of intimidation and discrimination? I know I won't be back. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Drive to Marianna instead. Or if you're going another direction, anywhere but here.
