If you're forced to place a loved one in a facility (in my case Regency at Troy-STAY AWAY) the most amazing thing you can do is to hire Residential. Our main nurse, an angel walking amongst us, Jessica, was an absolutely crucial support, advocate and friend to both those of us attempting to navigate the horrible life at Regency and to our dear friend who had to live it 24/7. We fought beside these people for our friends care, and I know they were in it to win it beside us. The pure care Jessica showed my friend taught me so much and it helped me get through it all. Michael, a volunteer with Residential was such a gift. He just showed up one day while I was visiting and became part of the fold. He helped me, he engaged my friend and they shared a love of Star Wars while I briefly stepped away to get some air. I returned to see my friend out of bed showing off his star wars gear. He loved us woman in his life but needed someone interested in the cool guy stuff. I was lucky enough to meet and share time with Michael several times, and he took the time to check on me and how I was emotionally. I was so shocked I hardly knew what to say. There were others, some I didn't meet (Danielle) who truly showed up. The horror of how it was at Regency pales in comparison to the reality of that place without Residential. Thank you so much. I have waited a while to write this review because I was unsure about how to put this horrible experience into words. We ended up utilizing this hospice company because it was the company that our hospital was contracted with at the time (2025). My dad had previously been receiving treatment at the hospital for Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. We had an in home intake meeting with a nurse on Sunday March 16. This particular nurse was kind and knowledgeable however she was not going to be our regular nurse. She stated that based on my dad's condition, a nurse would be at the house everyday. The next day, our assigned nurse came to the house for a brief time. I thought it was odd that she did not assist us in administering any oral medication as this was something we expressed to her that we were struggling with. Before she left, she stated she would be back on Thursday which caught us off guard because the intake nurse said my dad would need someone at the house everyday. As the week progressed, we felt like we were doing everything on our own as previous reviews have also expressed. My dad was in horrible pain and they refused to give us any other suggestions on medications - They simply advised us to continue giving him the same medication at the same dosage. In the early morning of Monday March 24, I called the nurse line as my dad had experienced a fall that resulted in cuts/bleeding and his general condition was plummeting. I inquired about when our nurse was scheduled to come back and they said Thursday. I was in shock as this would have been a whole week later from their last visit. I begged for them to send someone as soon as possible, but they stated our assigned nurse didn't start her shift until noon. I guess they did relay this call to our nurse as she texted me soon after the call to let me know we would be her first stop of her shift. It was too late as my dad passed away around 10am that day. I texted the nurse letting her know that he had passed - She showed up at 12:30 to pronounce time of death. I highly suggest steering clear of this company. read more

If poor service, being neglected, lied to, and disregarded is something you enjoy than Residential Home Health and Hospice is the place for you. They lied about providing a Rabbi. You can forget about utilizing the social worker. She usually has the day off and has a hard time working a phone and a calendar. Getting supplies and medications in a timely manner was challenging. My biggest complaint is that Residential staff came in and took over without explaining all the changes that were going to occur. My loved one was utilizing oxygen equipment and a BIPAP/AVAPS machine. They replaced her equipment with antiquated equipment and didn't tell me what they were doing and why. We eventually switched oxygen equipment supply companies. I was also working on switching hospices when my loved one passed away. Residential Home Health and Hospice was difficult to deal with from beginning to end. Everything was a battle. The Rabbi even had to call them to get them to release my loved one's body to the funeral home. Residential Home Health and Hospice only created more work and strife for me and left me feeling even more alone than I was already feeling. I strongly recommend using another hospice if you are able. read more

My mother was cared for in her own home by Residential Hospice for about 5 months before she passed away, at age 90 years. Every single point of contact was consistently compassionate, reliable, personal and genuine, from the direct care giver team, to the supporting service providers, as well as every aspect of therapy offered to my mom. In particular, she loved her nurse Andrew, and Pastor Gordon, David the Music therapist, Sharla who did personal care, and numerous others who assisted her and my sister for mom's final journey on earth. I highly recommend this Hospice for your loved one. read more

This company should be called "Do it Yourself Hospice Care". They told us the #1 priority is to make the patient comfortable. My Mom was in agonizing pain for over 2 1/2 hours yesterday with no help from Tammy or anyone from the company. I continuously called the telephone # on the front of their "welcome packet" and Tammy told me one lie after another saying a nurse is on the way. Then after approximitly 2 1/2 hours of waiting while my Mom was agonizing in pain, Tammy told me a supervisor would call me in 5 minutes. I have yet to receive that phone call. My family and I ended up giving my Mom enough medicine to finally make the pain go away and sleep. We had to guess on the amount and type of medicine to give. People like Tammy and Residential Hospice should not be in the health care industry...stay clear!!! read more

DO NOT USE RESIDENTIAL HOSPICE. They offer neither care nor compassion. Their nurse told us that they could not offer treatment and wanted to only give our father morphine. We discharged them. They said he would not live more than a day and he was alert and conscience for several more months. They also demanded to exchange our equipment, which we did. They did that so they could independently bill medicare. After we fired them for such poor care they demanded their property immediately, even calling the police!!! They had no compassion. When we needed them the most...they were not there for us. read more

Absolutely terrible customer care!!!! I wouldn't recommend this company to ANYONE! Had a client on it for 8 days and she didn't receive any supplies asked for! Kept getting the run around! I've dealt with Hospice for 10 years now and Residential is by far the absolute WORST! The last short time in their lives should be made the easiest not only for the patient but the client as well and that didn't happen with this company!!! read more

Being a hospice RN/manager myself for almost 20 years, it was extremely important that my mother receive hospice care in her final year with us. Living out of state for the last 7 years and being unfamiliar with the current hospices in Michigan, I was advised by my mother's nursing home that the Residential Hospice team was excellent. We consented for mom's hospice care to be provided by Residential 9/2018 and she passed this week. I was never sorry for that decision. Mom received loving, discerning, tender, educated and compassionate care her entire time with them. Additionally, that care intensified in her last week with us. Unbelievable to lack of care we received. I would never recommend this agency!!! My husband was on Hospice with Residential from 11/29 to his death on 12/20/2020. We had to strongly suggest to our case manager, who only works Mon to Thurs 9am to 5pm, to show up 2 times a week and call me every day, which lasted about a week. I was so disappointed with the response we got. There was no nurse who showed up for the last 4 days of his life as we were told would happen. We were so busy trying to keep my husband out if pain that it was physically as well as emotionally exhausting. Even the Nurse that was called to begin the process after he just died said someone should have been with us until the end. Due to covid the family wanted to be with him so he would not die alone. This agency did not make the process easier for us. I would strongly suggest that you get reccomendations from other families who had a more positive experience before you make a selection. read more

Terrible. Select another agency for the care of your loved ones. We had problem after problem with this company the whole time my Mom was on their service. They did nothing to lighten the load. Which is awful because hospice can be so excellent in the right hands. We only die once. Make sure you hire a good team to walk this path with you and that team is NOT this company. read more

My father passed at 7:45pm on a Saturday. We called to have him pronounced, and it took them 45 minutes to dispatch a nurse who's English was poor. Two hours later she showed up with no compassion. Thank you for making a bad situation worse. read more

My Dad was cared for by Residential Hospice for a year prior to his passing. The team consistently communicated with us and made regular visits, being flexible when we needed that. We had several caring, compassionate, kind nurses over the time of his care. Amanda, Stacy, Holly, Tim/Cynthia, and Danyel (who came for an extra stop at the end) were all kind and skilled, taking the time to listen to Dad and me. Colleen our massage therapist always made Dad smile. Tom the Spiritual Pastor did a great job talking with Dad. At the end we were told what to expect clearly and with compassion. When I saw Amanda after a long day with Dad at the very end, her care and compassion for Dad and myself helped me tremendously. Megan came when I made the final call. She too was very kind and competently explained next steps. After Dad passed I received condolence calls from Amanda and Cynthia showing me that they truly cared. read more

Please if you are reading this do not use this horrible company!! the nurse we dealt with was horrible and threatened our family with many different obstacles!! She was so unprofessional and argued with everyone!! She even used curse words in our home!! We wish we would have read the reviews before using this horrible company as it would have saved us a lot of pain and frustrations!! The nurse had no knowledge of medications and how to keep track of them!! This company was fired and our loved one was entered into a reputable company!! My mom was transferred back to Colonial Villa Assisted Living in Midland, MI after a hospitalization and rehab. The nurse at Colonial Villa recommended Residential Hospice out of Lapeer to care for my mom in her final stage of life. I am SO thankful for Residential. My mom only lived for five more days, but the care she received was wonderful. Tina, the RN assigned to care for her, got my mom the supplies she needed. She and the other nurse, Julie, were professional, very compassionate and respectful. The chaplain, Chris, visited my mom twice in the five days. He sat next to my mom's bed, singing hymns and playing his guitar. When I asked about communion, he offered to give it to both my mom and me. He was so kind and caring. He prayed with my mom, anointed her head with oil and neither time was in a hurry. It was obvious to us that he was right in the center of his life purpose. After my mom passed, he called me to see how I was doing and asked if there was anything we needed. We highly recommend Residential Hospice to care for your loved one. We are SO grateful for what they did to help us thru a most difficult time of loss. read more

Our experience with Residential Hospice was nothing short of horrifying. If we had had the emotional stamina to have fired this company and go to another, we would have. We will be haunted by our experience with them forever. Rhonda the masseuse and the nurses Evelyn, Julie, and Danielle were great comfort and support. On the day of his passing, we attempted to get a nurse to my father-in-law's house at 4:30 am, he passed away around 7:30. We had to call the sheriff department to proceed as if hospice was not in place an hour after his death. A nurse finally arrived more than 4 hours after the time of death, after the funeral home came to pick him up. It's a massive understatement to say they made a bad situation worse. read more

My mother spent 2.5 years in a facility with average care - we had to stay on top of it. About 8 weeks before her death she was put on hospice within the facility. We chose Residential Care and are so thankful for their expertise, and caring and knowledgeable staff. They responded to our every concern quickly and expertly. When care was lacking at the facility, they not only performed and changed the charted needs of my mother, but did a mini-in-service training for the facility staff at the request of the facility's unit manager. Not only did an aide come 3 days a week to care for her physically, and a nurse come twice a week, but a musician came every week or two to sing for half an hour, and a pastor every two weeks to address any spiritual needs. In defense of the facility, they did have an appropriate religious service every other week and communion weekly. My mother passed away a week and a half ago. Two of their staff were present. They will be providing grief counseling for us for a year, but the amazing thing is they will also be providing grief counseling for my mother's roommate. I cannot say enough good about the service and staff. From the other reviews, it appears that there is a great difference between hospice teams, but ours was fantastic. read more
