I am pleased to write this letter as both a professional reference and an enthusiastic review of…read moreNeal Roofing. Without hesitation, I would give this company an A+ rating.Having built six homes ranging from 8,000 to 10,000 square feet in several states due to professional relocations, as well as undertaking extensive renovations, I believe I am exceptionally well qualified to evaluate the performance of a construction company. Perhaps my most challenging project involved transforming a 4,000-square-foot waterfront home into an 8,000-square-foot residence. I have also overseen additions and renovations to my current home in Palm Beach County. It would suffice to say I have considerable firsthand experience with contractors, construction management, and the challenges that inevitably accompany major residential projects. To quote Stephen Covey, a mentor whose philosophy I have long embraced, "Begin with the end in mind." This principle has consistently guided my approach to major decisions and projects. When I purchased my home in an upscale, HOA-governed golf club community, I knew the roof was approximately 20 years old and would eventually require replacement at considerable expense. I also knew, from experience, how important it would be to select the right contractor. Two years after purchasing my home, I added a 500-square-foot, four-season sunroom. What was supposed to be a four-week project turned into a 14-month ordeal. Communication was inconsistent, the owners were difficult to reach, mistakes were not corrected promptly, and there was little regard for the disruption to my daily life. Because I work primarily from home and had two dogs at the time, the prolonged noise, construction activity, and debris made the experience particularly difficult.Consequently, when I began researching roofing companies approximately six months ago, I was determined not to repeat that experience. I wanted a company with an outstanding reputation, excellent Better Business Bureau credentials, and consistently strong customer reviews. Neal Roofing stood out. After interviewing several roofing contractors, I selected Neal Roofing because of its professionalism, straightforward approach, ethical conduct, and lack of high-pressure sales tactics. The representatives were knowledgeable, transparent, and focused on the job at hand. From the outset, I made my expectations exceptionally clear. I wanted the exterior of my home to look exactly as it had before the project began, with the exception of the beautiful new roof. I explained that I am extremely meticulous about my home, landscaping, and outdoor furnishings. In fact, I showed them the interior of my home, which I jokingly describe as looking like a museum, to demonstrate just how particular I am about maintaining my property. I also wanted the new roof tiles to closely resemble the existing colors. Neal Roofing delivered. The crew completed the primary roofing installation in a single day, leaving the roof waterproofed and protected in preparation for the tile installation. Equally impressive, they left my property exceptionally clean and free of debris, allowing me to walk my dog safely without worrying about construction materials scattered throughout the yard. Despite the unpredictable weather conditions typical of October in South Florida, the company maintained an efficient schedule and completed the tile installation in just one day.The workmen were, for the most part, courteous, respectful, and considerate. Whenever I needed to take my dog outside, they accommodated my schedule, temporarily stopping or adjusting their work so that we could pass safely. This attention to the homeowner's needs was greatly appreciated.
However, what truly distinguishes Neal Roofing from other contractors is the attitude, integrity, and accountability of its leadership. After overseeing so many construction projects, I am realistic enough to know that no major renovation or construction job proceeds with absolute perfection. Unexpected issues arise. Mistakes happen. Circumstances change. The true measure of a company is not whether an occasional issue arises, but rather how its management responds when one does. That is where, as the saying goes, the rubber meets the road.Throughout this project, I had the opportunity to communicate directly with the supervisor, general manager, and even the owner of Neal Roofing. Whenever I raised a question or concern, I received a prompt, professional, and constructive response.Their attitude was consistently one of "can do," rather than "cannot."Never once did I encounter defensiveness, excuses, or an unwillingness to address a concern. Instead, management responded expeditiously, took ownership of the situation, and worked diligently to resolve even the smallest issue.Having spent much of my professional career in senior executive leadership, I place tremendous value on accountability, effective communication, responsiveness, and a strong work ethic.
