Review #1,010 Posted on 9.13.26…read more We came here for our 17th anniversary on Saturday the 29th to stay for the night. This place is kind of unknown and it should be known, it's very nice. It's in Lodi in the cuts, and has this woodsy type of feel to it, serene almost too. The grounds were done really nice, and had tons of space too, very scenic. They've got a few different places on the grounds to eat at, and a huge spa which is my guess the main reason people come to stay here. The spa was very nice and a cool cool experience. The rooms are nice, just a tad odd how close they are to a residential sub division nearby where you can see into peoples yards and whatnot, that part threw me off a bit, kind of takes away from the privacy a bit. That's probably the only thing I would change from this. I would return 100% here.

This was my first visit to the restaurant at Wine & Roses since Appellation Hospitality took over…read more My friends and I have come here for special occasions over the years--most recently in September 2024 for a birthday celebration. Tonight, we returned for another birthday, but the experience was nothing like before. We arrived at 6:10 PM for our 6:15 reservation. Upon entering, the hostess walked right past us with another party, without so much as a "I'll be right with you." Another employee eventually asked if we'd been helped; when we said no, she said she'd find someone. We were finally seated, and our server, Monica, was the bright spot--attentive, friendly, and kept us updated on our food. That food, however, took nearly an hour to arrive, and we watched several tables who were seated after us receive their meals first. When our dishes did come, they arrived in stages--the succotash and salmon first, then the pork chop and gnudi about seven minutes later. Worse, nearly everything was cold and overdone. Pork chop: Unevenly cooked--some parts dry and overcooked, others undercooked. The potato purée was gummy and overworked, though well-seasoned. Salmon: Overcooked and bland; I had to ask for salt and pepper just to add flavor. The corn velouté underneath was unpleasant--the corn kernels were dried out and rock-hard (I circled the pieces I had to spit out in the photo). The beans were burnt, not charred, and tasted bitter and inedible. The succotash was flavorless and had 1/2 cherry tomato poorly executed. Gnudi: The lobster was chewy and overcooked, and the dish was dry--it desperately needed a sauce and a bright note like lemon to bring it together. The only course that delivered was dessert. For the price, the quality was disappointing across the board. Needless to say, we'll be looking for a new spot for our future celebrations.

The staff is what makes this place shine. Summer, the day manager today, was grace in the face of a guest being hateful. (Shooting the messenger is never an appropriate tactic. It seems the guest never brought her gripes to the attention of the staff, but rather blasted them on the way out. ). She is super helpful and articulate, and was pleasant even while being attacked. The woman taking care of the breakfast was very efficient and kept the breakfast area well-stocked and with great variety. All-in-all, we will be back and we appreciate the warm and friendly staff.

Dan took over and was so helpful and kind too. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Property felt safe and secure. This Candlewood Suites location is dog friendly (25.00 for the first night and 10.00 each…read moreadditional night for stays 1 to 6 nights. A nonrefundable fee of 150.00 for stays 7 or more nights), provides free WiFi, has free parking and free use of the washer and dryer. This location shares the same parking lot as Holiday Inn Express (that is also dog friendly by the way). There is no breakfast provided but the rooms have a full kitchen with necessary pot and silverware and a full size fridge with freezer. The room that my husband, our little girl and I stayed in was quite spacious with a large enough bathroom. I liked that there was Dove branded shower wash, shampoo and conditioner available in the shower stall (and also a Dove branded hand soap dispenser by the sink). The only thing I don't like about the bathroom is that the door closes automatically and would prefer not to have to reopen it every time I need to go into the bathroom (but that is minor and am sure others would not find this annoying). Service from employees that I have interacted with the employees here are friendly. There is a small gym on site that has a water dispenser available and disinfectant wipes made available. Outside on the back side of the hotel are grills with a nice covered seating area. There is a also a poop bag dispenser for those walking their pups. Overall, we had a comfortable stay and most likely will stay at this location again when staying in Lodi (which is pretty regularly).

We came up to purchase a couple of kayaks and wanted to be centrally located to the Lodi Lake and downtown. This home is perfectly situated for both. BIG BONUS--- Each room has a bathroom...not all B&B's do and it is a must for me :-). If you need a lot of counter space in the bathroom I would recommend the Downstairs Suite...We were just in town to kayak so I didn't have a lot of stuff but if I needed to use hair tools and good lighting for makeup, I would want to be in the Downstairs Suite. We stayed in the Master Suite and the Black and White Suite. Both rooms are nicely appointed and the beds are SOOOO comfortable. The entire home is clean and cozy, Breakfast was delicious both times and we enjoyed wonderful conversations with the other guests. Check in was very easy and the neighborhood was safe and quite. We had no worries about having our kayaks tied up to our truck overnight. We look forward to coming back!

OMG ... looks like I did end up getting "Stuck in Lodi Again!" I thought I was on my way outta here…read moreand I get a message from my work I gotta stay a little longer. So, I check into the Holiday Inn Express here in Lodi. I usually always stay with IHG Holiday Inn Express cause I'm a platinum member with all my travel I do. I got a room no prob and checked in a little early even. My rewards points were posted to my account just fine. I don't know how long I'll be "stuck in Lodi again" ... hee hee just gotta sing that song! But this is a good place to be stuck. The room was clean and the WIFI worked just fine so I can do my work. Coffee is available 24/7 either in the lobby of there's a little coffee thing in the room. Each room comes with a little microwave and fridge to keep stuff like leftovers from meals. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water pressure, for those really long hot showers, my little water tank at home can't give me! Breakfast is the same stuff and it's good and hot as it is at all Holiday Inn locations.

I was trying to decide between staying here or back at the University Plaza Waterfront (I have…read morestayed there once before) near the Stockton Arena. After seeing the pictures here, I decided to cancel my reservation for the University Waterfront because this place seemed more secluded and they have the good brekkie, lol. The room I had was on the 1st floor, very convenient without having to wait for the elevator. It was clean and had no bed bugs that I could see, YAY for that alone! I was too afraid to try that ironing trick that's trending on TikTok and IG, so I didn't do it. If I can't see anything upon close inspection, I'll take it!! I woke up the next day feeling well rested and no bed bug bites, so double win there! Breakfast was good, but I think the pancake machine needs to be adjusted because the pancakes seemed a tad undercooked. They serve it daily from 6 to 9 am, so if you go towards the end, you likely will miss most of the good hot stuff. I didn't catch the bacon (if they had any), but I did get 1 sausage and left the other 2 behind. They still had 3 cheese egg omelets, but I didn't take one. Everything tasted great. The room was a comfortable size and the convenience of having the mini fridge and microwave always comes in handy. The bathtub was dated, but it serves its purpose. I like that they have Dove toiletries, including hand soap and lotion. I HATE those little bar soaps hotels usually have by the sink. I bring my own foaming hand soap but didn't have to this time. They also have a fitness center, laundry facilities and a swimming pool and jacuzzi. Parking is free, and there is plenty of it. Service was also great as Manuel took good care of me when I called in a few days ahead to see if I could check in earlier than the usual 3pm standard check in time. I didn't see him when I checked in, but I met him checking out. Cool guy, cool vibes, and I told him I would tell people to stay here, lol. The other 2 ladies I encountered the day I checked in were super nice as well. I highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express in Lodi if you're looking for a place to stay in the area. It's near shops and restaurants and didn't seem ghetto to me. It's like a level above Stockton area (or so I was told by a friend). I told Manuel I'd be back one day, so tune in for my next check in.. til then, don't take my Duchess title away, lol!

I'm currently staying here and need to write this review NOW. I am not happy about the COLD shower…read moreI just had to take. It's 44° here. I was looking forward to a relaxing hot, or at least warm shower. The water ran for several minutes without getting any hotter even though it was turned all the way to the hottest setting. This place isn't that big. They should have plenty of hot water for all of the rooms. I've stayed at huge hotels in Las Vegas and the water got HOT. There's no excuse for this. The tub was also dirty/stained and the towels are a dingy white. We've only been here one night with one more night to go. If I didn't book via Southwest Hotels using points, I would be down stairs trying to get some sort of refund back and I would also leave and go stay in a different hotel. Another thing, all the power went off last night about 10pm as we were arriving back. It didn't come back on until this morning. I woke up at 6:11am to lights on in our room. This probably wasn't their fault as the power was off on entire street on both sides. Just giving a heads up to anyone who might want to stay here as I don't know how often this is an issue. EDIT: my husband just brought up a good point... the power was out for 8 hours so most likely this was a PLANNED power outage to do work around here. If that's the case, the hotel would have known about it and should have said such when we checked in. We are going down to talk to the front desk about it now. EDIT #2: we talked to the front desk... The girl admitted that it WAS a planned outage. Very unethical to not tell your patrons and continue taking their money to stay there knowing this was the case. The girl said she would have a manager call us. She also claimed it would not happen again. We were so miffed and didn't want to take the chance that we ended up leaving and renting a room elsewhere. I have since put it a claim with Southwest to get my points back and to not vouch for this place. By the way; I NEVER received a call from anyone at Best Western to try and rectify the issue.

It was a very large lovely room with en suite bathroom, also quite large. The room was bright and full of light, decor was upscale vintage and the king bed was soooo comfortable. There was even a vintage mini fridge in the room for snacks or left overs. Both spaces were spotless, very well kept. We had breakfast outside on the deck both mornings that we were there and Chris, our host, made us a different offering each day, with fresh coffee, oj, freshly cut fruit, something eggy and something sweet, we loved it all. We also enjoyed the company of our four legged hosts, Cosmo a statuesque white standard poodle who made sure to always have a toy offering in his mouth upon greeting us and Gracie a slightly pudgy super friendly tabby cat who did what cats do best, lounge in the sun and soak up pets from guests that happen to pass by. We will definitely be back to Lodi for other wine getaway adventures and we hope our room at Bella Vino is available next time we make the trip.
