Location good near to a lot of service. Privilege written communications with the administration, safer.

My mother left Steger residence on February 8. She had fallen a week or so before in the bathroom…read morefor the umpteenth time. Given an aspirin for the pain and bruises and left in bed for days. She developed pneumonia because of this and was hospitalized and told she was unable to return La Residence Steger. When I asked for my final bill on march 12 I noticed that she was charged $300 for the month to dispense meds. I inquired as to why I was being charged for a full month's medication, this was part of my reply. Not even bothering to ask how my mom is after being there for over 10 years. Tax receipt for 2022 and 2023 will follow once final payment is made. Peter K The hospital informed me that she needs 4 teeth extractions because her teeth were never brushed. My parents moved to Steger in 2011. 2015 my fathers health declined and that is when I noticed the difference between dependent and independent living. A very dangerous non renovated apartment building bathroom both my parents and some of there friends fell more then once and were hospitalized. In comes personal touch from Steger to bath, dispense medication, change diapers and bring you up and downstairs to meals. $20 a ride(billed as 1 hour) $20 breakfast in room, $20 lunch and $20 supper if you cant get there on your own because you are dependent. Multiply this by several residents with two personal touch staff members and you get some real wait times and watch residents treated like cattle. I watched this first hand because when my dad was in the hospital upon his return we were told he can only eat puree food. I was told by the owner of Personal touch, Jasmine, that they would properly prepare his food in his room.(turned out to be a complete lie) (Look at the video of my dad eating ) while In the dining room I saw several residents including my dad tired or bathroom calls after eating and wanting to go to there room having to wait for personal touch to bring multiple cows upstairs at $20 a john. The CLSC used to come to dispense medication to my parents but after PT continued to badger me that the CLSC is not as reliable as them, I canceled my service with the CLSC as I thought I was paying $20 bucks a meal that they would give the medication. Silly me , I got charged $300 bucks a month FOR EACH of my parents on top of the $1800($60 a day) Now I know why PT told me it would be better if they dispensed the meds. A doctor from PT comes in every 2nd Friday. After waiting an hour with my mom I got a prescription. At The pharmacist informed me that the script was made out to another person and not my mother. Good thing he noticed. When my dad was alive there was some real double billing on my parents Three years at $57k a year to PT and $36k for rent. PT invoiced both my parents separately and $300 each for meds :) The video link below shows a commode as night table with shit stains on the dirty carpet. Meals served in plastic and Styrofoam and not even put on a plate. My helpless parents in bed 20 feet away while the food sits on the kitchen table waiting for you guessed it PT to finish with someone else and come to feed them. My dad got Pneumonia and bed sores because they wouldnt come and turn him. Mom at least six urinary tract infections in 3 years. Twice my parents were in agreement to consider moving and I made an appointment with a CSLC approved service to see a dependent residence. I told personal touch to prepare my mom the night before. The next morning my mom decided to not even visit the residence. I'm not saying Personal touch to keep the cash cows coerced my mother that they would be better off staying at Steger but this happened once with my parents and then 3 years later with my mother(4 months before she fell) The solitary confinement for 22 hours a day is the worst. no exercise only socializing is at lunch and supper and then back to your cell. My advice to you is when your parents need medical care at Steger as health starts to decline, call the CLSC for help relocating to a dependent residence. Personal touch is not a part of steger that you want to have anything to do with. I emailed 3 managers Lorraine, Sarah and Alisa at steger. No response. I emailed personal touch about 20 times about lying my dad in bed right after eating I have many photos of this. Most people just pay the bills. I live 5 minutes a day and was there almost every day for 10 years. No one deserves to be treated this way once you at Steger as health declines as they are open season for these vultures(my mother says) MY THOUGHTS SHAME ON YOU STEGER JUST A LITTLE DIGNITY AND YOU CAN CHARGE AWAY. https://rumble.com/v2ks60w-la-residence-stegers-personal-touch-service-is-a-waste-of-money.html http://legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/ShowDoc/cr/S-4.2,%20r.%205.01/ 35. All residents must be treated with courtesy, fairness and understanding, and with respect for their dignity, autonomy and need

I came across these reviews today, but was taken by Lilly C/ 5/18/2016. It was though she was…read morereading my thoughts over a year later. It is a long story which I recently addressed to Atria's head office in Kentucky and to Christie Grange, in charge of Canadian Facilities. They listened to me and were extremely concerned about various issues as those expressed by me and Lilly C. I spoke to them even before I read this review today. However, a year later nothing has changed BUT hopefully things will NOW! Thank you Christie for your time and caring about what I had to say. The elderly, especially those who are ill should never be taken advantage of. I sometimes felt that the staff could be rude by comments heard in the elevators. Also, thank you Sarah who is now the new Director at Residence Steger. With her expertise, changes should take place soon. My beautiful, dear mother passed away on August 30,2017. She was at Atria 3 years. I was her voice because my mom never liked to complain and refused to ask for help when needed. Everything said about Personal Touch is true. I could never reach Dr. Levi to inquire what was being done even when I felt my mom was not on proper medication. They do not hire RN's and many of their staff are heavy smokers. I could smell it on their clothing or even worse, watch them puffing away outside. What type of accreditation is required to work in a private health care facility in Quebec? I was at a disadvantage, because I lived in Arizona and could not be there at all times for mom who only had me. I was hoping to place my mom elsewhere but again, no other beds were available/Elder Care, etc. I never received condolences or a phone call from Personal Touch( Daniella or Jasmine)when my mom passed! Enough said for now, rest in peace Dear Mom. If more people were like you, it would be a better world.
