A Heartfelt Thank You to Sacré-Cœur Hospital…read more The first time I experienced pericarditis, it began out of nowhere with a sharp, intense pain on the left side near my shoulder blade, which travelled to my chest and arm. It was frightening and overwhelming. I was taken by ambulance to Sacré-Cœur Hospital, and from that very first moment, I was treated with kindness, compassion, and professionalism. The ambulance crew, triage nurses, doctors, and cardiologists made me feel safe and cared for in a way I will never forget. I am 63 years old, and I have never felt so safe and reassured in a hospital during such a frightening medical experience. Unfortunately, my pericarditis was stubborn, and I experienced recurring episodes of pain that required me to return to the hospital several times. My medications had to be adjusted repeatedly, and I underwent numerous tests, including EKGs and heart ultrasounds. Through it all, the medical team remained dedicated to finding the right treatment for me. They did not give up until they were confident that things were under control. As someone experiencing this illness for the first time, I was scared and had so many questions. The knowledge, professionalism, patience, and humanity shown by the cardiologists and doctors made an enormous difference. They took the time to explain things, answer my questions, and reassure me, even while caring for other patients with more serious conditions. I will never forget the care I received at Sacré-Cœur Hospital. A special thank-you to all the cardiologists, doctors, nurses, and medical staff who looked after me. There have been so many of you that I cannot remember every name, but you know who you are. Please know that your kindness and dedication have touched my heart. During my last visit on September 26, I was especially overwhelmed and deeply touched by the dedication of two cardiologists. They were in a rush to attend to another patient, yet they both took the time to care for me and make sure I was okay. That moment meant more to me than words can express. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to my follow-up nurse, ARIANE ST-GERMAIN. Thank you for your continued support, care, and dedication. I feel truly blessed to have had you by my side throughout this experience. To everyone at Sacré-Cœur Hospital, thank you for helping me through one of the scariest moments of my life. Had unfortunate need to come here after a pretty bad car crash last February and was treated…read moreextremely well by all staff in several departments. The staff and doctors easily spoke to me in English which was a relief as when your in a weird situation your brain dosent always pick up on stuff being said to you if it's not in your mother tongue. I was brought in by ambulance so I don't know what the wait time would have been like but I'm sure they are quite long. The hospital itself is in need of some love and care and upgrades a lot of the hallways in certain sections look run down and could use at least a fresh coat of paint. As well I had to spend my whole stay without a pillow because they didn't have enough to go around small things like that need improving.
