This place has a repeated history of bottom level service, if giving them negative stars was a thing I would probably do it. We used them at our old house and planned to use them at our new house. At our old house, our neighbor, not us, fell behind on the bill and they took our trash can instead of his. We were without a can for 3 weeks and they refused to bring us one. Currently, we have not had trash pickup for almost three weeks. We call every single day and they promise us that they are coming tomorrow, but somehow they never show. The main road our small road is off of has had their trash pickup, they just can't be bothered to drive down our street. They claim they've contacted the supervisor but they just say whatever they can to get you off the phone. Been a customer for almost 5 years, they would try to raise my rate from time to time and I would call and get them to return it to what I was paying so I just felt it was part of the game. Then they started missing pickups, carts would set out until the following week. Customer service was always nice but ineffective. I would ask for credits but it got to be so many misses that I just gave up and cancelled. Now they want to charge me for picking up the cans. Really! I sounds like they have hit on a new way to make money. Charge for the cans to be dropped off, provide little to none actual service then charge to pick the cans up once you cancel. After MONTHS of trying to be patient, we have finally terminated our service with Republic Sanitation. In the past six months, they have picked up our trash on time twice. I've lost track of the number of times I've called them to report that they did not pick up our trash. When I called to terminate our service, the person with whom I spoke said they only have record of me calling twice--once in July and once in September. Seriously?? I've called almost every week to report they missed picking up AGAIN, and to find out when or if they planned to pick up. The real kicker? The guy told me there would be a $24 charge for them to come out and pick up their empty receptacle. If that wasn't so freaking annoying, it would be funny. They can't manage to pick up my trash on the appointed day for MONTHS, but they want to charge me $24 to pick up their trash can. I told him there is NO WAY I will pay that charge and that I would bring the receptacle to their office myself. He told me they don't accept receptacles returned by customer. Really? Then why did I have to come and pick up the receptacle myself two years ago when we first began the service? This company, or at least the local branch, needs a major customer service overhall. Not specifically with the people who answer the phones, but I think this company is acting unethically. In case you didn't see it, they sent a post card to customers stating they'd be implementing a Can Refresh program for $3/quarter UNLESS YOU CONTACTED THEM to opt out of the program. This $3 covers the expected future cost for replacing THEIR can which you rent as part of their collection service. I called to opt out and to complain about making me call them. I was told I'd be omitted, but was charged the $3 fee this quarter. When I called again, I was told the charge is $3/can , which I have trash and recycling, and they only removed it from one of my cans. SO now I'm waiting to see if they got it right. If they didn't , I'm cancelling my service on grounds they've not performed their duties. read more

No I don't recommend. I called last monday to sign up for service last week. The rep looked at the map and said " Yes we service your area". I said great, my dad recommended he lives a mile down the road. Two weeks later and 3 phone calls later the cans never arrived. Called called back to find out the hold up, only to be told. I wish zero stars were an option. We had Republic for probably 6 years or so, and somehow the price went up every quarter while our actual trash/recycling pickup happened less and less frequently. They are the WORST. For the past year or so, our recycling would get picked up maybe every 4-6 weeks (IF we were lucky, and this is AFTER phone calls multiple times a week) while we continued paying for every-other-week pickup. No credits. No apologies. Just horrible service month after month. Truly, I would rather (and ended up having to) take my own trash/recycling to the dump than give this company another dime of my money. Literally ANY other trash service is going to be better. My neighborhood's NextDoor and Facebook groups are basically just one long string of person after person complaining about Republic and how their trash never gets picked up. I cannot believe they stay in business. Anyway. Now that I'm finally paying them $40 for them to take away their trash bins (please note...they hadn't picked up my recycling for OVER A MONTH, but I still need to pay for them to take the things away once and for all???!!?!?!), I'll feel a little better getting this off my chest and then never, ever using them again. After being a loyal customer for several years, this past year has been hit or miss with timely pick up. Recyclables are only picked up bi-weekly so when they miss a week it's a month before they get picked up. I finally got fed up and cancelled my service only to be told it would be 2 more weeks before they could come to pick up their cans and they would be charging me $38 to do it. I'm very disappointed with this company and hope they use this review to get their service up to where it should be. read more

This Company is an absolute joke. They have always had flaky service at best. I moved one street over in the same neighborhood and my pickup day stayed the same (Friday). They have missed the pickup 4 weeks in a row and every time I call I get the same response. They apologize and say the pickup is coming the next day. I just called again for the 4th day in a row and its the same story. Was supposed to be picked up Saturday(due to Holiday), they picked up everyone's trash on street and even when they had to turn around in my cul-de -sac to exit, they drove straight past their own blue can surrounded by garbage bags!!! I called that Saturday and was promised Monday pickup. Never happened! Called Monday and was promised Wednesday pickup. Never Happened . Called Wednesday and was promised Thursday pickup! Has not happened yet today and its already 3:15 , so yet another call and they tell me that they will do their best to get it today. We shall see. I'm contacting the BBB tomorrow and may possibly put in a call to the News. Terrible companies like this need to be exposed and held accountable for the way they do business. Villa La Jolla customer Robertson sanitation for a little over 20 years about nine months ago Robertson sanitation decided they were to change your pickup date in my neighborhood there for about three months they chose which days they were going to pick up our garbage and JJ still did not get the garbage when they were supposed to if you were to call they would tell you that be right back out that afternoon or tomorrow to pick it up but in reality all they were doing was blowing you off the phone because they wouldn't show back up until the following week after this went on for a couple months we cancel service now for the last month-and-a-half I have been trying desperately to get back my big garbage can that I had purchased Robertson sanitation took it upon themselves to come out and take my can along with theirs and now I keep calling to get my can back to get this resolved because the cans were expensive and I get blown off every time I call this is really starting to get under my skin all I want is my garbage can back and then apology for the bad service that we have gotten to have brought us to this point I'm going to start calling every hour on the hour until I get my can back right I have a supervisor call me I truly recommend that if you're with Robertson sanitation you might want to find a different garbage carrier these guys really really do a bad job at with your supposed to do sincerely unhappy customer read more

Fine in the beginning with competitive rates and good service, but slowly started increasing rates and missing pickups. Customer service will tell you sorry and do rescheduling, but nothing happens even after talking to supervisors. Lots of calling and waiting on hold to speak to someone. Sometimes the supervisor will promise a rate adjustment to make up for missed day, but that is hard to keep up with since bills don't come every month. Scheduled a bulk pick up since that is a service offered,but it was cancelled without notifying me and with no explanation. Just cancelled. very disappointed with this company. This is the absolute WORST company I have ever felt with. They are expensive, unprofessional, and down right awful. I signed up with them and paid 150 out right for connection fee and container drop off. I got another bill a week later for $20 so I paid that. The NEXT week I receive a bill for $161. I called them and asked them why and they said for the connection fee and container drop off. I immediately explained how much I had already paid and that if this is how they are going to conduct business, I would like to cancel. The guy tried to make it out like I was the worst customer ever and that I was trying to cheat the company. I made it very clear that I am not buy anymore money toward that company because I already paid $150+. The guy said okay, that's fine just pay the $88 for removal fee and that will be that. Yesterday, I got another invoice for $161 again!! I called them today the lady said she had no record of any payment. While I was looking at my recent payment activity which clearly showed that I had paid. I asked to speak to a manger and she refused to transfer me. She continue to argue with me even though I offered to send my bank statements to prove how much I have already paid. Before I hung up, she told me that if I didn't pay, I would be sent to collections. I am trying to warn everyone who is even thinking about signing up with Republic Services, DO NOT DO IT. Horrible, horrible service all around. We were told to sign up with them when we moved to a new house last fall. Of the 8 months that we used them, they probably successfully picked up our trash and recycling 1/3 of the time. They would fail to pick up one or both, send automated calls saying they were coming the following day, but they rarely did. After months, I cancelled and switched to another company. Then, it took me six weeks to get them to pick up my containers, with them promising every week that my request had been "escalated" and that pickup would happen. After they finally picked up their bins, they charged me $62.68 for the pleasure of them picking up their own bins. Worst service I have had in any industry for years. Their reps say they don't have enough drivers, they don't have enough trucks, etc. Usually, they have no idea why things weren't picked up. Definite do not choose this company. It's not worth whatever the savings may be to have to deal with calling and dealing with the trash on a weekly basis. It doesn't seem like rocket science to create routes and have them done each week. Other companies do manage to do just that. Since switching, I haven't had to give more than a passing thought to my trash pickup. Before, it was a weekly chore of multiple calls and dragging the bins in and out, usually full to overflowing. If there was a way I could give this company ZERO stars I would. They are absolutely horrid ! My family and I moved to Athens on the 30th of December and chose to have Republic Sanitation as our services. Worst decision ever! For the holidays a one day delay was expected which is understandable. However, they did not come the next day or ANY of the days following. I have called this service EVERY SINGLE DAY Since January 3rd. Everyday I am told that they will put our services on priority and it will be picked up the following day. They still do not come. So I have left complaints online and keep calling everyday. I have still yet to have my trash picked up and now it is the 12th of December. They have said the local office will call to let us know but have I gotten a call. Nope ! I have never seen any company like this one. Stay away from this company. We have been with first Robertson Sanitation and then Republic Services once it took over Robertson for 19 years. Last month, we waited a week before our garbage was picked up. Each phone call I made, was to a call center somewhere else who could only post my missed pickup to the local office in Winder. They could not give me a local number to call. They told me someone would call me to make sure it was picked up. This happened twice and each time, no pickup and no phone call to address the situation. We are having the same issue this week. Each phone call only goes to a call center. They apologize. They tell me it will be picked up tomorrow. They tell me they will accelerate the call and make it top priority. They tell me someone will call me. They tell me my garbage will be picked up tomorrow. NO PHONE CALL! NO GARBAGE PICKUP!!! It is obvious Republic does not value its customers. If they did, they would follow through as they say they will and be up front with their customers. read more

I cancelled my trash service with this company last week. The female representative I spoke to, told me that they would pick up my cans on Monday. I asked, what was the remaining balance? She said, since my billing cycle just ended, I would just pay for the past week. She would send me a final bill. Their calls are recorded too! Today, my cans were not picked up! I called, the male representative said, it was scheduled for next Monday, 3/19. Then he told me that there would be a $51. Pick up fee. I told him no, I've never heard of that? He said yes, you paid a delivery fee when you signed up. No, I did not. I signed up under a promotion that started at $13 per month and rapidly moved to $20. So, I asked to speak to a manager. After a 13 minute wait another male representative picked up. I had to repeat all my information again. Then, he said the same thing that it was in the billing. That when I paid, it became a contract. Well, Mr. Republic waste management, you just bought yourself $51. of bad advertisement! I will share this with our HOA, friends and family. I also noticed Republic has several military contracts. So, I will make sure they hear my concerns too! This company is sneaky! Republic is right down the street from us and so I thought it would be best to use them. Their rates were fine at first but have increased $20 over the last year and a half. I did not pay the next payment for future services and thought I was done with them, but then received an $80 bill from a creditor that I cannot get an explanation about. I paid it, they came and picked up the trashcan, and I thought that now I was done with them, but then received another bill from them for $49 for trash can collection fee. Really ? so i contacted the corp. office and they did nothing but ,they called my house asking for my EX .even after telling them he didnt reside here.and i own the property, so since the bill is his name i will let them find him and collect from him .. After about 8 years of service with them i've decided that most everyone that has reviewed are spot on. increase after increase which is ridiculous when most everyone else is more competitive on pricing. Also add that for the past month they have not picked up recycle and only would give me 2 weeks of credit since they didn't record the times i called prior to that in their system. Also this month is not the only time recycle wasn't picked up.... pretty spotty service. Maybe they can give my cans to people ordering new service that they don't have cans for. Also, when i cancelled they advised i would be charged a $24 pick up fee. When i asked if i could bring the cans to them they said they didn't have anywhere for me to take them. Too bad you can't give ZERO stars. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE service...actually, no service at all. I recently moved to a new home, and established waste and recycling service with Republic. They sent me a calendar of when my recycling would be picked up, because they do not pick up recycling weekly. I had "blue" week, which is two pickups a month. Put my recycling out the first Blue week, no pickup. I thought maybe it was a communication issue since this is a new home. Next Blue week, put the recycling container out, no pickup. By this time, the container is completely full. I called, and the lady (without asking any of my info) said it was probably a snafu from the Christmas holiday, even though they picked up the trash and left the recycling both times. Third Blue week, I put the container out, NO PICKUP. By the fourth week (two months, since it is only picked up every other week), I call again. The first representative had every excuse in the book - holidays, maybe I wasn't putting my container out soon enough, maybe I was taking it in too soon, blah blah blah. She told me she could have it picked up on Monday at no charge as a "courtesy." When I got off the phone, I decided I didn't like the way it was handled, and I called back to cancel service. The man laughed and said, "You want to cancel service over one little issue?!" As far as I am concerned, this is FOUR ISSUES. I told him I wanted to cancel and I wanted a refund for the pickups I have been charged for that never occurred. He said he didn't think he should have to do that since it was the first time I had called. I told him I called before, and was told it was because of the holiday. He argued with me, and finally relented and told me he would refund one of the pickup charges. So they basically steal your money and charged you for a service they are NOT providing. Please save yourself the grief and added expense (they are more expensive than their competitors) and use someone else! read more

We stayed with Republic for over 4 years though they constantly missed pickups to our house. We gave them some leeway because we are off the beaten path. However, when our quarterly bill suddenly jumped $25, we decided, time to change vendors! Cancelling service has been the biggest pain and total RIP OFF. We had to call multiple times to pick up the trash cans, and after they finally picked them up, they only gave us credit for 1. In the end we had to pay over $150 in fees to settle a bill for service we never received. Granted, we were trying to get a clean final invoice with credit for both trash cans which took some time because they didn't pick them up when it was specifically scheduled. Ironically, we were able to return them when someone came out to GET THIS....deliver us NEW trashcans. Save yourself a big hassle and a lot of wasted money....there are services out there that are way more reliable at a fraction of the cost. Good riddance to bad rubbish (collectors)! read more

It's so cheap because they never come pick up your trash. I scheduled service over the phone 2 to 3 weeks ago for trash and recycling containers to be delivered Thursday July 5. They never came. They didn't pick up the trash I left by the road. Called July 5 - was told they would come July 6. Nothing. Called Friday July 6, was told there was nothing they could do in terms of bill credit because of missed container dropoff. Was also told they could not deliver containers or pick up my trash for the week until Tues July 10!!!! Nevermind the fact that they already accepted my money. Clearly there is a quality control issue down here in Georgia. All the responses in the world from Phoenix AZ will not solve it until you get quality control in place at the LOCAL level. After I asked the woman in billing to connect me to upper level management to file a complaint, she "dug deeper into my issue" and found there was a "container shortage." A CONTAINER SHORTAGE?!?! You have got to be kidding me. Even if there was a container shortage, giving me no notice of the issue is UNACCEPTABLE. So here I am left waiting all weekend until Tuesday for them to pick up my trash (64 gallon pickup I paid for) from a measly 20 gallon container I have. When we moved to Winder, the new subdivision had a backdoor deal with Garbage Hound, stopped that after about 3 mo. Went with Republic, big company, heard of ok service, yada yada. For the past 2 mo we have had no service, excuses, truck picking up down the street's trash and a rate hike. Had "customer no service" tell me I couldn't pay in advance after the fact that I did. No idea how their Common Core math adds up but there is a 1/4 fee (3 mo) to pay, then you would multiply x4, right? Well it worked for a year till they went up on the rate & this yahoo told me it was impossible. Neighbor got an $8.50 cut for no service. They never offered to anyone else. Cheap*sses. I hear they others are horror stories too but I wont have them anymore. Guess its like cable, use em, pay ridiculous fees and go with someone elses gimmick when you get **it service. Republic services has declined lately. Used to be a good reliable trash pickup company. Started with doing away with rewards program for recycling. Then went to increased pricing and charging for recycling. Now I can't seem to get my garbage picked up. My pickup day is Wednesday. This week is already two days late. Week before last was three days late. No phone call or nothing. Not the way to treat customers in my opinion. Been with this company for years. Have always paid my bill. If this is the way they want to treat a good paying customer I guess they want to lose a good paying customer. When you call to complain you can't call your local office you have to speak with a call center and all you get is Sorry. I have an idea maybe I should pay my bill like they pick up my garbage. When I feel like it. I wonder if that would work for me. Somehow I doubt it. Way to keep customers. Here's to you losing more. Good luck with that. Found them on google was ok at first then they could not keep up with my payments and when I called I got some lady that didn't speak English so I had no idea what she was saying asked for a call but that never happened so I finally called in and talked to a lady sent her a copy of where I paid them and told them I wanted to drop them. well the very next week I get another bill with a extra $10 they say is for gas to come to my house even though they come down my road anyways saying that I haven't paid them and they have turned in to a credit collector $80.... really... so I called and the woman said that its for current months even though they removed the cans out of my yard 2 months ago... so last night I get this email from them saying that I have a balance of $62 so this morning I called and dude said that its a can removal fee... this place is just after money that is it I wish I had never done any kid of business with them! nightmare!
