In the past 5 years my bill has gone up $153.61 with NO increased value of service, my trash is often left past pick up date even though I pay my bills on time. I received my recent bill with NO notice that an overall increase was going to take place. It took me 5 customer service reps (one was a supervisor - useless) until I got Emily in Indianapolis, IN who took care of the problem in 10 minutes. I was on the phone an hour and a half with the other reps. One of the customer service reps told me sometime you can't fix the problem - can you believe that. Meanwhile, took Emily a total of 10 minutes to fix the problem which was on their end not mine. If anyone ever calls the Wider office direct be fore warned they jus out and out LIE. read more

My yard trimmings have been sitting in front of the house for 8 days now. I was told last Friday morning (6/26) that they would be picked up then. On Monday (6/29) I was told they should've been picked up, my service had been paid for, and I was in the assigned route, and a supervisor would be notified. On Tuesday (6/30) I was told the bags should've been picked up and the supervisor had until the end of the day to get back to me. It's now Thursday, 7/2, another scheduled pickup day. We, in good faith, paid $60 for our next 3 months service. After two weeks of absolutely NO trash pick up, even after repeated calls, I called and cancelled our account and talked to the representative about receiving a refund since they NEVER picked up our trash. It took them another two weeks and another phone call before they finally came to pick up their cans. My husband called AGAIN to ask about our refund and was told it would be sent out within two weeks. Well, we finally heard from them, but instead of a refund, we received a BILL for $9.17!!! I called in March to request new garbage service from Republic. The guy on the line quoted me a price, I gave him my card number for the $50 deposit and was told I would have a new can out in a few days. After a week and a half with no can, I called on April 7th and talked to a girl asking when the trash can would be delivered. She told me then that there was a mistake and the person I talked to did not have the "promo code" to give me the price he gave me so she increased it by $20. I asked her to cancel my service and return the $50 deposit back to me. She said that she would have to request that a check be cut and the process could take up to 10 business days. On May 7th, I still had not received my $50 and called back. I was told by the girl on the phone who did sound quite sympathetic that she would look in to it. She came back and said that the paperwork had been submitted and she wasn't sure why I had not received the check. She gave me two options...wait for the check or call my bank and report it as a fraudulent charge so I could get my money back sooner. Today, May 21st, I still have not received my $50 back from Republic. My bank has graciously agreed to file the fraudulent charge but it's ridiculous to have to go through this with a once reputable company. We too went with White Oak and they have been great. I've had wet recycling sitting on my curb for two months because of late/no services from Republic. For the last two months I receive text messages from Republic stating services would be delayed, which ended being cancelled. Trash pick up didn't happen for two weeks at one point. We have used Republic Services for about 15 years. Our trash service is like a joke with them. When it rains they never fail to leave our container lid open so the container is full of water. Of course when it is not raining they close the lid. Recycle service is terrible. Our service is hit or miss. When they pick it up, we have to clean up the street from the mess they make. The latest recycle hasn't been touched in a month. The service is supposed to be every 2 weeks. They didn't pick up 4 weeks ago. I called and they said tomorrow. In fact, every time I call, they say tomorrow. Two weeks after they missed it, they missed it again. They were supposed to pick it up today. No such luck. Now we are on week 5. I found out when I call to complain, their call center is in another state and the call center has to email the recycling people for my area. The recycling people may or may not reply. Customer Service representatives are rude when you call to inquire about the on going mis trash pick up. One rep told me trash is on a 3 day delay and no need to call again asking about your service. I just sent out a message to the entire neighborhood to advise not to use this company. I've got to say that this has to be the worst company that I've ever dealt with. I cannot think of any that have even come close to being this bad. I've spent hours of my time on the phone with this company because of missed pick ups. It is impossible to call the local branch. When you call a local number, you get transferred to a call center. I really feel sorry for these call center ladies-I know they take a ton of calls from upset customers. A few months ago, I finally had a manager in the local branch give me his personal cell number. I really hated it for that guy because I was calling him on a fairly regular basis. I could hear the drop in his voice whenever he got my call. He finally got things running smoothly. Unfortunately he left the company and everything is back to crap again. You don't want to do business with this company, trust me. It's missed pick up after missed pick up and then tons of time on the phone. My recycling hasn't been picked up in two weeks. Today, this company hit rock bottom in my book. After my Friday missed pick up, they told me to put the can back out Monday morning and they assured me that it would get picked up. I was home today to witness my two weeks of recycling, full bin, get put into the back of a regular trash truck. So now this company is unethical as well. I called the local office again and again, got transferred to a call center. I told them that I wanted a call back from an office supervisor. Nobody ever called me back. Four years ago when we received a promotional offer to change sanitation companies, Republic Services offered the best deal in my part of North Fulton. Overall, I was pleased until prices started to creep up and service simultaneously took a nosedive. Now it's to the point where any bags of trash left curbside but outside the container could carry an extra charge. Another disposal service (not a competitor of Republic in my area) informed me that Republic Services uses a strategy of lowballing initial rates to entice new customers to sign up. Insult to injury, I was never told about an unscrupulous $24.95 fee for container removal following the cancellation of service. There is no direct phone number to the company's local office so I have to wait for a supervisor to call me so I can discuss this horrendous charge. I was willing to return my container to the local facility in Cumming, GA but was told by a customer service agent that container self-return is only available to customers in certain areas. I even offered to take my container and meet their third party container pickup vendor at a date and time of their choice but that win/win solution isn't an option either. I wrote to their customer service department via their website. Three weeks have passed and I have yet to receive a response. After cancelling my service, the empty container that scheduled to be picked up on January 2 was never retrieved. Nor was it picked up as promised the next day. However, even with my trash collection service cancelled, Republic Services still attempted to pick up the trash from my empty container. I was told I had to retain their trash can for another eight days until Republic Services can schedule a truck to pick it up. That amount to nothing but further misinformation. Republic Services arrived two days earlier than the time they indicated. This hapless corporation doesn't possess the minimal organizational skills needed to get out of its own way. We recently bought a house that's a little "out of the way" and decided to go with Republic mostly because they were the company the previous owners used so we knew they serviced our street. When I called to establish service, I found out that the cans from the previous owner (which were still at our newly purchased house) were supposed to be picked up the previous week (this should have been a red flag). However, since we still had the cans, the rep I spoke with told me that we could avoid the can delivery fee by continuing to use what we already had. That sounded fine so we went with it. Our first trash/recycling pick-up went as scheduled without a hitch. On the second pick-up date, however, the cans were picked up along with our garbage and recycling. I called customer service and was told that the cans had been picked up by accident and that they would deliver new cans at no additional charge since it was their mistake. New cans were delivered and everything seemed to be fine, until I got a bill for delivering said cans. So I called customer service yet again, and this time was told that if the cans had not been picked up, the people whom I bought the house from would have been charged for them and that new cans absolutely had to be delivered--so the exact opposite of what the two previous reps had said. The rep went on to say that if I paid the fee then I "might" get a credit on my next bill. She also said that she would escalate the issue (not sure to where). Needless to say, I now plan on finding a different company and cancelling my service. read more

Terrible service! I do business with Republic Services because they have a contract with Gwinnett County (Georgia) Solid Waste. I would dump them if I could. I moved into my new home six weeks ago. In that time, my recycling has been picked up regularly, but my trash has been skipped three times. By my math, that's a 50% failure rate. When you call the local number to contact their customer service line, you will be redirected to a call center who-knows-where. Each time, I've called them to get the problem resolved. Each time, the person "assisting" me has scheduled a separate pick-up and assured me that the problem has been corrected. Most recently, I was told that the problem was that my account was not completely set up from the beginning. I'm not entirely sure I believe this because they seem to be picking up on alternate weeks. I've since contacted Gwinnett County Solid Waste to complain. For what it's worth, they request that complaints be lodged through their office (770.822.7141) so that they can address the problem and have a record of it. I'd really like for this to be resolved once and for all because, believe it or not, I really do have other things to do with my Monday mornings. read more

I ended up canceling the service after a month and expected a refund on the amount from the recycling since it was NEVER picked up. They never refunded my amount after continuous calls and waiting for a supervisor to give me a call back I decided to give it up and be done with this company. I wish we had looked at these reviews and bailed from this scam of a company a long time ago. A cursory glance at these horrible reviews, which are almost identical ( spotty pick-up, terrible customer service, outrageous fee to pick up their cans once an account is cancelled) should lead to a class action law suit and shut this rip-off business down. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau tomorrow. If you wish to know why we chose to cancel and pay the $60 fee for them to pick up their empty cans, which are currently sitting at the street awaiting an overdue pickup, simply read any of the other 50+ one-star reviews. Republic, on a regular basis, failed to pick up trash, often twice per month. When customer service was contacted, there were promises but no refunds or compensation. If I could give a negative review, I would. They are definitely what business they provide. TRASH! When I started using them I was paying roughly $75 every quarter. Not bad and competitive with the only other service that as provided in my area. After 2 years with them, my rate increased by 200%. I was paying close to $160 per quarter with no reason as to why. When asked they told me it was because of my developing area. I told them my area hasn't had anything come close to being called developing. Gas prices are actually .23 lower than they were 2 years ago but a "Fuel fee" was added along with an "administrative fee," to my bill. I called to cancel early this year (Jan 2020) and was still given a bill with no explanation of why it was still $17. I then had to call again and find out why I was being charged, no one could give me an answer. They told me they would call me back and inform me if anything had changed. No call. Republic bought out Robertson Sanitation in Barrow County, GA. At first we had no problems with them. Within the last year their service has gone down hill in the past year. The garbage men continually leave the empty receptacle s in the road making it a hahard to drive around. They have even picked up the people across the street and totally ignored our trash. When I called customer service I was told that they have until 6:00 pm to come back out to pick up our missed trash. It took 2 more days to get our trash picked up after me calling AGAIN! Warning!!! This company will charge you to place and remove containers; yet, they will not tell you the full details of their billing up front. Ask them before you sign up how much it is going to cost you for "Administrative Fees", "Delivery Fees", and "Fuel/Environmental Recovery Fees". The rub: (Why did I cancel my service after 3 years?) They did not collect my trash on time in more than 7 weeks. The final straw was the missed pickup and I contacted them. The flagrant response that they would get to my pickup within the next 2 weeks is what threw me over the edge. I paid for weekly pickup and they failed to deliver on that commitment. I cancelled and now they want me to pay an additional $25 for a container return fee + $6 Administrative and $10 in fuel and environmental fees. Mind you it is about 4 miles to the regional office where the cans are located so $2.50 per mile? Had they warned me that they would want a fee to pickup the can at the onset of our agreement, I would never have agreed to service.
