After visiting today, I had to walk straight back out and vowed to never go back in. The poor birds in their depressing, empty cages looked so sad and lifeless. They can't even see any natural light. This place should be shut down, how is this not an animal welfare issue?? They're disgraceful.

In fact, this name was augmented to "Harry 'Houdini' the Hairy Hippy Hamster" after numerous daring escapes he made from his cage. Yep, he was a devious but loveable rogue and I always felt his tiny black eyes belied a great warmth of intelligence trapped in that thumb sized skull. Petland are great, choc-a-block with those cool, colourful twisty hamster pipes and rolling balls to keep all but the most artful of rodents engaged for hours. Indeed, this is a good pet shop by all accounts.

Meerkats, they have real live meerkats!…read more I spent a very happy half hour with junior watching their antics, after which we bought a dog bed, a toy for the cat and explained at great length why we couldn't take a meerkat home. Petworld is huge with a vast array of pets (anything from rabbits to tarantulas) and pet related accessories, worth wandering in to just for a look at the animals if nothing else!
