A store that is run by a young married couple, their toddler daughter and the dog...this is the make of good good people. The first time I went in, their daughter was giving a tortoise her bath, this fearless toddler sticking her had in terrariums with lizards, snakes, crickets, locusts and other critters. I told the parents that if we were all raised like this, to care for all living creatures, it would be a different world where we wouldn't be afraid or disgusted by reptiles and insects. I went in just to see, I grew up with snakes, so I wanted to say hello to one, even if through a glass. Well. They let me hold not one, but several! We spent a good while talking about reptiles and life in general (while a little snake got tangled up my hair - I let her find her way out). They told me to come back any time I needed my 'reptile fix' and I do - often!
One of things that I really like is that this is not just a business for them. They don't treat their animals as merchandise. They take their time to know their customers and they won't sell to dodgy characters who they perceive won't care for them properly. This is sooo important to safeguard the wellbeing of these little fellows. They are also engaged in the community and often go out to shows where the educate the public about reptiles. It's really heartwarming to walk in and see a dog, a toddler and a young couple tending to their animals. read more
