This year after ski day one I realized my foot was extremely uncomfortable. (Old dude with a bunion that's getting worse) I stopped in at Christy and Joe the boot specialist was super. He offered to punch out my boot while I waited but also let me try on some new boots for comparison. We decided to punch out my shell and after a short wait to let it cool off after heated adjustment I was back on the slopes. World class service without high pressure sales.

I really wan prepared to spend hours and hours of pain, reheating, pain with a new boot. Leave it to the team at Christy's. I could see the skis before even opening the package. Of course I wanted to return it as I don't even know the condition/ how compromised the skis were. I immediately sent photos with delivery timestamps and regardless of how UPS shipped it- the way the company handled it was so rude. The Director of Operations called me the next morning and did not apologize once. He was so condescending and said he already discussed this with me via email. The packaging was so compromised that I couldn't even reuse it to ship the skis back safely- he asked me why I can't you just tape up the sides and ship it back. I kept trying to explain that I was nervous to returned expensive equipment in a completely damaged box- I wanted to ensure I got a refund and prevent further damage to their afraid these expensive skis he didn't care- so condescending and rude - No accountability. No ownership. No solution. Just deflection and attitude. If this is how they handle a straightforward shipping issue, imagine how they handle real problems. Ski equipment isn't cheap, and customers deserve better than being told to fix the company's mistake with a roll of tape. I'm shipping it back as is and if it's damaged further it's not my problem. I will not be ordering from them again, and I will not be recommending them to friends or fellow skiers. There are plenty of other retailers who value their customers & their equipment.

I saw a pair of Solomons in my size on the sale rack and they were attached by a zip tie and a locked merchandise key. I asked a bald man who was working there. I'm not sure if he's the manager if he could unlock it and he said no you have to just try on one at a time and see if they work. I immediately left the store because I think this horrible customer service and this guy is an imbecile. I am a customer that lives in the Vail Valley and comes to the store for outerwear and he just lost me as a customer because I wanted to try on a pair of boots!!!???? he said that too many people walk out of there without paying so I have to be inconvenience because sun and ski sports cannot manage their loss prevention. Needless to say, I'll never be back and I'm heading all the way to Glenwood Springs to go to the REI where I have a membership. Don't go to the store. It's horrible.

They do rentals, and have plenty of clothing, but they also carry those last minute gift ideas. This last trip we had a lot of snow one day and our boards were running a little slow. We dropped off our boards at Charter Sports to get waxed for $35, and it was ready the next morning when they opened at 8am. In all they are a pretty safe bet for some basic winter sports needs.

I have been a big fan of these guys for years, but we had a rough week with them. I'm hosting 12…read moredifferent guests across a 12-day period and sent them all to Base Mountain Sports because of their good prices, great staff and flexible pick-ups across their four locations. On two different mornings, I got our guests up early to go to the Avon Wyndham location to get skis, boots and poles... and no one was there. We went twice both mornings between 8:15 and 9:00 (posted opening hours are 8:00)... and lights were out with no indication if anyone was ever coming in that day. That's a rough way to start your day and adds time by having to go to another location and then argue with staff to honor the lower Wyndham location prices now that we had to pick up in Beaver Creek Village or Lionshead. One morning, I spoke to a manager at Lionshead who took the feedback seriously and even reported back to me at the end of that day that he'd gone to the Wyndham location to check things out -- and I appreciated that. Hoping you can figure out the start time issues because we've traditionally gotten good service from these folks.
