I would give zero stars if I could. I rented a condo from Renton and Soo Yu at Manhattan Condos. They were my property managers. Upon my one year, I got a call from the condo's sellers agent (separate from Keller Williams) out of nowhere asking me if they can come in and take photos of the unit as they were trying to list the condo for sale. This was the first I heard about that and when I asked Renton about it, he said he knew for weeks but was waiting on the owner for further instructions. Weeks? Really? You couldn't give me a heads up ahead of time? He advised me I don't need to worry for a "FEW MONTHS" (oh and continued to talk poorly about the owners not choosing him to represent them as the seller's agent) but I decided to be proactive and look for a new place (good thing I did since the sellers told the unit within a few weeks, even before my 30 day notice was up - and their agents kept harassing me to have random people come in for inspections, tours, photos etc.). Renton took no accountability for his lack of communication with me.
During my last week my water heater broke and leaked water into the unit below me and I had no hot water for over a week. Renton continuously blamed the owner on wanting to get multiple bids which was causing the delay but I really think they're mindset was "she's moving out anyway, who cares" because that's how I felt like I was treated.
The WORST part is that Renton is deducting a window repair from my deposit. This is a window that I have not touched one bit since moving in but anyone can see (based on the photos here) that it's been old and damaged for years now. Again, I've only been here for a year. When I moved out, the movers opened it for the first time to let air in and it just fell apart. I emailed Renton right away and again, he blames the owners that THEY made the decision to charge me for the window. Who cares about ethics huh, Renton?
Renters, buyers, sellers, vendors... I would definitely choose never to do business with Renton and Soo Yu again. They're not concerned with "doing the right thing". I doubt that even crosses their mind.
I still have yet to receive my deposit and I could almost guarantee they are trying to deduct every dime they can even though it's not warranted or fair.
Will definitely get this escalated and reported to the proper channels, including the legal channels. read more
