I am writing this as a serious warning to anyone considering this clinic--do your research before…read morespending thousands of dollars here.
I regret spending $3,000 on shockwave therapy without first being properly informed of other possible underlying conditions pertaining to mental health, pelvic floor dysfunctions or anatomical malformations. I completed six treatments, and the inconsistency in care was unacceptable. Some medical assistants were thorough and methodical, treating multiple areas with attention to detail - Side to side, base to tip, perineum etc. Others rushed through sessions with little care, focusing on one area, making the entire process feel unstructured and unprofessional. The medical assistant who administered my first treatment told me that upon my third treatment I would move to the "red tip" of the shockwave gun, and it was like the "jackhammer" of the treatment. He alluded that the red tip was the "most effective" and really causes the most results.... After six treatments i NEVER once saw a single medical assistant use the red tip...
While Dr. Pedro conducted himself in a professional and medically appropriate manner, my experience with one physician assistant--who presented himself as a doctor, "Dr. Garcia" --was completely inappropriate. He immediately began asking if I spoke Spanish, how fluent I was, and then proceeded to offer me a job on the spot, claiming I would make more than I currently do--despite knowing nothing about my background?! This alone was wildly unprofessional and rather brazen in an already awkward and uncomfortable setting for a new patient.
It only got worse. He then asked deeply invasive and irrelevant questions about my sex life, including how many partners I've had, my preferred sexual position, and even how far my ejaculation travels and if it "hits the wall or just goes all over my stomach".... He asked me my HIV status, if I take herpes preventative prophylactics and if I use condoms.... I proceeded to tell him I was celibate and he then asked me "why"?! When I asked why these questions are relevant he gave me a smug look and said "it just tells us about your treatment needed".... These questions were inappropriate and incredibly unnecessary according to my Primary Care Provider. Also, This place does not provide STD treatment and such questions hold no precedent in this setting... As a victim of sexual assault this immediately ruined it for me and I should have ran out the office right at that moment. However, I felt like it was something I would have to embrace because I deeply desired results. This also resulted in extreme anxiety and discomfort upon arriving at the facility and ALWAYS having high blood pressure upon assessment, when I usually am in perfect range.
After spending this amount of money, I expected meaningful results. Six weeks after completing treatment, I have experienced absolutely no improvement in erection quality. I find that a lot men are probably in a moorage about their results because "Dr. Garcia" expounds ad nauseam about taking PDE5's i.e., Cialis and viagra, so you never know if it actually has improved, or if the "firmness" is coming from a contributed source.
"Dr. Garcia" also made allusive comments about being on SSRI's - I formally suffered with chronic depression and suicidal ideations and this PA had the audacity to tell me that my medication was the negative contributor of my erection quality and I should attempt to get off of it as soon as possible. Such advice is dangerous and incredibly against patient centered care. There is also little to no proven evidence based research that Wellbutrin has any serious negative effect on sexual quality.
However, you can't expect a place that refers to a Physicians Assistant as a "doctor" to have any consideration to medical research when title misrepresentation is taking place. Upon my first visit this same individual asked if a different "doctor" could view my treatment. He was also in fact, a physicians assistant who told me he still had a lot more school and tests. Such mislabeling is illegal in most jurisdictions, considering MD's and DO's hold entirely different qualifications and ethicals standards compared to a PA.
Let me be clear: this treatment is not FDA-approved, and I strongly urge anyone considering it to first consult a qualified urologist or pelvic floor specialist. Do not allow yourself to be sold on an expensive procedure without exploring legitimate, medically supported alternatives.
To be fair, the clinic's focus on men's health and wellness has potential. My nutritionist, Israel, was excellent and genuinely helped me address key issues in my diet, which had a positive impact on my overall well-being.
However, that does not outweigh the lack of results, the inconsistency in treatment, the completely unprofessional conduct I experienced and the profound discomfort.
Bottom line: proceed with extreme caution
