I have rented from them multiple times in the last few years and had a great experience each time. They have a great selection, good hours and weekend hours. They are my go-to for rentals in Tampa. I rented a Spider Lift from this place. It was broken. When I called to have it removed. The guy spend 25 mins fixing it then charged me as "customer error". It worked 30 mins off and on. I have tried unsuccessfully to get my money back. I live on a pension. I saved the money to get this dead cut down and it's still in my yard. BAD BAD COMPANY. DO NOT USE. JUNK EQUIPMENT. read more

Tried doing business with this rinky-dink operation 3 times. The 3rd time ends it for me. They are all about "bait-and-switch". I reserved a lift based on their website. I called to make sure it was available. They said it was. I get there - it's gone. The one they pushed me to did not do the job. I went there to reserve a certain trailer. When I came to pick it up -- it was "broken". The trailer they switched me to was horrible. It added hours to the day and much aggravation. I went there once again to reserve a trailer. I even stopped by to see it work. They said they'd have it "right up front" on the morning I needed it. THE DAY BEFORE I was to pick it up -- they call me. Trailer no longer available. They sold it the day before my reservation. Once again it's "bait-and-switch" time. When I said I had people arranged and other equipment lined-up and this was going to destroy my plans and cost me money, they said "we're sorry you feel that way". This is a horrible company. rented a boom lift on 9/7 for a week, realized it was going to storm for the majority of that week so I called to see if I could bring the lift back (picked up late & was bringing back as soon as they opened) & reschedule, was told "no problem, bring it back & we can reschedule". When I take it back first thing in the morning Carla(office mgr) was EXTREMELY rude telling me I would have to pay an additional $300 because that's what it cost to just drive off their lot! After some exchange & her continuing to belittle me, I walked outside & one of their other workers told me I should come back in the morning & speak with the owner Bob because what she was doing was wrong after I was told over the phone it wasn't a problem. Mind you had that been said I would've tried to figure it out but at that point a whole day of work was wasted. So I go back the next morning as soon as they open, speak with Bob, he wasn't real friendly but thought I had already left a bad review (I hadn't) & told Carla to fix it & give me the week rental for the left over $ on the contract, she was not happy & still very rude even though I apologize for the day before, I just wanted a good working relationship which now I know they care less about. We settled on a date when the lift would be available then we had to move it again due to the hurricane but I was finally able to pick it up on 10/3 then had to bring it back the following morning because the engine would not stay running. They said they didn't do anything & nothing was wrong but they did clean lines & made comments about water possibly getting into the lines during storm.Finally get it fixed & back to job on 10/4, used it on 10/5 & it dies in the air, had to keep switching controls from bottom to top for it to work, I finally had to use a ladder to get down because I was stranded in the air. So today 10/6 I show up to my job to find out the alarm had been going off since 3am, neighbors are angry (don't blame them) & continues every time I tried to operate it (yes it was level). I called Rentalex, waited for mechanic to call after 30 minutes of no return call & them just telling me the mechanic will call at some point I finally got it all down & packed up to take back. Take it in talked to a guy at the desk who agreed to give me half my money back (he'd have to ok it with Bob) because the equipment was faulty however, they only turned it on for 3 minutes, barely lift boom, no one gets in it & tell me it's working fine even though I explained it takes about 20 30 minutes of working it for it to stop running correctly & it's clearly leaking hydraulic fluid. So we walk in & before I could be refunded Bob (owner) not only call me a liar but says he's not refunding half & I'll take what he gives me & be happy or I'll get nothing! I cannot express how rude he was, he does not care about building working relationships with his customers or even keeping good customers, he only cares about money & how to rip people off. So out of $1,028.36 for a weeks contract FOR A WORKING BOOM LIFT I was refunded $218.14 which means I paid $810.19 for a 3 day rental! I am disgusted & honestly really sad that this is how Bob & Rentalex treats not only their customers but their community, how can you speak to people they way you do? How do you rent out equipment you know isn't safe & doesn't work? DO NOT RENT EQUIPMENT FROM THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF.
