We've used Rent-a-wreck 9-seater vans from Oslo since 2018. The conditional of the vans has always been poor but this summer it was very disappointing. This was especially given that we had paid £1,750 for a two week rental. Three times we experienced a loss of power on our VW Carravelle. The final occasion occurred as we were going through a hill tunnel and when we stopped we saw that the accelerator pedal was only attached by one remaining screw - it seems it had been working its way off throughout our trip! Despite numerous attempts to get some kind of response from Rent-a-Wreck they have ignored me every time. Absolutely shocking customer service. We would no longer recommend this company unless you are happy for the vehicle to fall apart whilst driving! Previously we had an exhaust drop off and various seatbelts fail to work! read more

Rent - a- wreck are a bit cheat. We received the car DL - 89781 from Rent-A-Wreck at Oslo Airport terminal. We have below major concerns regarding the service and car condition. 1. The Car DL-89781 was in worst condition, Car breaks were loose. This is major risk during long drive, especially on Norway mountain roads. 2. Front passenger window was not working. 3. Wheel alignment is not set, the whole car shakes at around 80-90+ kmph on highways. 4.After starting the engine, it was giving some strange smell in the car. Probably windshield solution smell. 5. Generally, tourist expects minimum working systems in the car, however, the car systems/features such as Radio, CD-Players, GPS etc. were NOT working. 6.Car AC is wasn't cooling enough, we had to drive with open windows. 7. Our online booking showed cost of €249, but we were charged €349 eur as they changed the contract when we went to pick the car. Don't give your credit card or bank account to Rent-A-Wreck Lillestrøm. They charged me again for a rent contract I paid over a year ago!! I contacted my bank that helped me to get my money back. A scam company. The car broke down. There are so many other services online you can use to rent a cheap car in Norway. read more

Would not recommend... 1. They act very unproffesional. They inform You about the airport fees and send You instruction where on the airport parking You can find the car, as they dont have office at aiport. Finally they dont provide the car at the airport parking, but they wait for Your phone call asking, where is the car, and only then they deliver the car, and You have to wait for them at the parking gate. At the end, when You ask them, if they will give You the paid parking fees back - no answer... 2. There is no possibility to buy insurance to minimize excees to 0. Lawest offer was to minimize excess to 2000 NOK. When You get the car, they dont want to write with You a protocoll, they only say - they already took the photos in their garage. And guess what - after I gave back the car, they found some scratches, informed me, I have to pay the 2000 NOK. When I asked for confirmation, that they actually repaired the scratches and it cost these 2000 NOK - no answer, only invoice with information, they already took the money from my credit card. 3. The car that You get is usually scratched all around, so they probably never make the repairs, they earn additional on these fees. At the end, I wanted to earn about 500 NOK, and paid more about 1700 NOK. Well, never again. read more

We hired two cars from the Varangerboten branch last autumn. One had a collapsed suspension and bald tyres and the other had brake disks so worn that the disk was being ground down. After returning home we got a bill for 10,000NOK for damage to the underfloor of the car with collapsed suspension. Avoid at all costs. read more
