So we went elsewhere. We went back the next night at an off-hour and while the food was fine, I would have been highly disappointed had we waited in line for 30 minutes, let alone 2 or more hours. This restaurant has a prime location and a strong online reputation. And perhaps our experience was impacted by the fact that we went at an off-hour. Still, there are much better options, with equal character, available across the city. Consider branching out -- and check my other Salzburg reviews for other alternatives.

We came in around 5pm for an early dinner before our train back to Munich and was able to grab a table for 4. We got incredibly lucky because the restaurant really filled up and by the time we left, there was a long line down the block. Of course we had to have their Original Wiener Schnitzel, which was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We also had a Salzburger Nockerl, which is a classic Austrian soufflé dessert that is considered a culinary symbol of Salzburg. You do have to order this about 20 minutes in advance, so we ordered it when we made our entree orders. This was really good and honestly, more than enough for our group of 4. I also highly recommend their house beer, which was one of the best beers I had during our 10 day trip.

Excellent hotel Excellent restaurant…read more RARELY do I ever eat at a hotel but this was an exception. I was tired from traveling and did not want to get in the car to find somewhere in the dark to eat. I am so happy that I did. The food was absolutely amazing! This was one of the few strudels that I actually liked as well. There was no rush and we were able to enjoy ourselves, the food and drinks. The front desk staff (young lady) was extremely helpful and seemed to be doing the work of 5 people. When we got to our room we discovered that it was only set up for one guest and she immediately left the desk and came to assist setting it up. Quickly learned that it really does take a village to put a duvet in a duvet cover :-) The room was perfect, clean, quiet. The bathroom shower had hot water and great water pressure. Plenty of parking. Breakfast was included and was fine for us to tide us over and send us off on our journey. Thank you to the great staff and chef.

It was very rich, but what helped cut through the cream was the very smokey ham bits that permeated the entire dish with campfire smell goodness. My wife's Margherita pizza was not -- it was a standard cheese pizza. Very uninspired. But ok for a cheese pizza. Service was slow and needed a lot of manual labor of waving hands and stuff to get attention. Overall 3/5 wish we had done something else but it was fine for a meal.
