Capital City Psychiatry - Capital City Psychiatry

I usually don't leave bad reviews, but when it comes to businesses dealing with mental health, I…read morefeel this is important. I saw one of Capitol City's psychiatrists, Dr. Esther Elphick, in March for some extreme depression related issues I had been having, and left crying due to how I was treated. She belittled me, made me feel stupid, and left me with a medication I didn't even know what was for. When I would ask her to clarify a question, she would simply repeat the question louder and with aggression, instead of explaining what she meant. She implied that my therapist from back home who I zoom call while studying during the year at FSU (who I have been seeing for 8 years and has helped me so much) has no idea what she's doing and that I should switch to a therapist at this establishment. At the end of the appointment, she listed off literally just the names of four medications and asked which one I wanted to take. I was so confused- I don't know what medications are for based off of just the name! I asked so many questions but she literally could not explain what the medications helped with. I scheduled a follow-up in April, and was terrified to go back. I have literally never dreaded anything more. I scheduled the appointment for April 17th at 1PM, but unfortunately there was a school shooting so I was unable to leave campus to get there. I called them, told them the situation, and they still charged me with a no-show fee. There was literally a school shooting. It's insane that I'm writing this right now. I started to believe that maybe psychiatrists were meant to be mean and aggressive, and that's how they single out the people who are simply just looking to get prescribed adderall or something. I ended up going to a different psychiatrist in my hometown, and she was amazing. She was so kind, made me feel comfortable, and was extremely empathetic. She went on maternity leave so they switched me to a different psychiatrist at their location who was just as amazing. This made me realize a psychiatrist like the one I saw at Capitol City Psychiatry is not what a psychiatrist should be. This experience did not help my mental health at all, it simply gave me more anxiety and made me feel even more hopeless.

Being there patient for more than 7 years. There was no follow-up. I had to pay more than $190. They kept giving me more prescriptions that I didn't need. Also, I switched to my previous provider cause they didn't provide those things. I was hoping for a better solution, but this wasn't a better case. Everything they told me was self-pay after seeing Angela Jackson for plenty of years.

I asked co-workers about Encompass and they had very positive remarks about the recent renovation. Overall, my dad was in GREAT HANDS! His nursing team was impressive to say the least. They always went above and beyond what was expected and took great care of him. The facility was right across the street from my job at the time, so thankfully it was easy to visit! His room was always clean, spacious and items he requested were provided. They moved him twice due to (even what I wouldn't have complained about) some noticed ants (and I mean I saw three of them) and another concern near the next room. We didn't even have to utter a word! They took the initiative and made sure my dad was again comforted and cared for. He enjoyed his rehab activities and while yes they did push him, they still wanted him to take things at a healthy pace. I cannot voice how pleased and thankful I am for Encompass. Thank you all again!

Worst experience ever. Traditionally, health care in Tallahassee has been subpar compared to more…read moremetropolitan areas, but this was beyond belief even for this rural area. My 83 year old father was immediately placed on anti-psychotic drugs to sedate him and not bother the staff. Funny how he entered the place in need of PHYSICAL therapy, but was 100% mentally sound. Staff is underpaid and overworked, with owners pocketing money. MD makes a symbolic, almost cameo appearance once in a blue moon. Within 2 days, a patient tripped his bed alarm, made it down the long hallway and back and mistook my father's room for his. Patient fell into my father's hospital bed! I kept pleading for respiratory to look at my father who continued to wheeze (as staff was having him drink and eat while horizontal) and his RN did the same. I finally tracked down the MD, who acknowledged the error. By then, the situation had escalated. But for my brother being in the room when our father experienced acuterespiratory distress and called 911 to transport him to local ER, he would have been quiet dead.
