He is able to touch up a full head of highlight (my hair is long), trim and blow dry my hair in less than an hour!!! That is unbelievable! As a busy working mom, this is very much appreciated. He has since been cutting my husband's hair as well and my hubby is also very satisfied with Nader's service. He has thick wavy hair and is not easy to cut and style but Nader does a fantastic job. I was only going for a wash, cut & dry so I honestly didn't expect to be long... and I wasn't. Thankfully, I was in and out within the hour. I didn't find the prices to be expensive, in fact, I was surprised at how low they were compare to where I normally go. However... I certainly did NOT receive a fantastic cut nor did I experience any styling abilities that I would consider to be above par. Luckily though, I only had to wait 10 minutes sitting in the chair unattended with soaking wet hair. As a new customer, I think Nick honestly did try to focus on my hair and discuss various options with me but it seemed as though, with every 'regular' customer that walked through the door, his focus quickly shifted to them instead. I have long, curly hair with long layers and was looking to add a little more 'bounce' to my curls. The layers that were cut throughout the back are fine however, I was left with an odd layer that was cut into the front which has left me looking as though I'm trying to grow out my bangs... which I don't have... Or didn't have... I don't know what I have anymore! The next day when I tried to style it myself, it was a colossal failure! I typically just diffuse my hair and go - not quite the case anymore! I had no option but to run to the store and purchase the essential tools so that I could force my hair into submission! It's going to take a long time to grow this out. :(

I went in with a gift certificate from my birthday to get my hair done and ended up spending about 3+ hours in the salon. Not only was I forgotten about multiple times, but I was left sitting in a salon chair with wet hair for about 20-25 minutes. Not cool. The salon wasn't even busy so there really wasn't any excuse. I was so upset with the service I received (what made it worse was that it was supposed to be a birthday gift) that I refused to go back. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a salon that gives me as good results as this place had. When I was having my hair done regularly, I was rather pleased with the salon. The owner, Nick, while crazy busy, is a nice guy and most of the stylists etc are very nice. I will say that you shouldn't go here to get your hair done if you have somewhere else to be within the next few hours. Expect a solid chunk of time to be taken up while here. No one can dispute Nick's fantastic styling abilities. It's not cheap to get your hair done here but the cuts are FANTASTIC. It's my understanding that Nick studied hair design in Europe and it definitely shows. Even when your hair is growing out waiting for that next cut, it still looks fantastic. And even when I stopped going there, my hair still looked fantastic until the next time I got my hair cut elsewhere. I was usually going in for color and cut (sometimes with highlights) and the cheapest bill was probably in the area of $120. Until I had that terrible experience, I would have rated the salon a 4, but if you're looking for a good place to have your hair done, this is one of the better places I've found.

I honestly recommend this salon to everyone I know, because it's so amazing! They recently moved to a new space in Ajax, which they call, the Hair Oasis, which is most certainly is! It's a beautiful and relaxing space with comfy chairs and even some counter space to get some work done while you wait for your colour to set. I found this salon through Instagram and it has definitely lived up to its expectations . I love that the salon (@erinmelindahairstudio ) and each of the stylists have Instagram accounts showcasing their work. It's really great inspiration! All of the stylists are truly experts in what they do, so if you see a colour or cut done by any of them on instagram, I would highly recommend making an appointment with that specific stylist , because if you love something, it's always a good idea to go straight to the source. Pro Tip: Since they get booked up pretty far in advance, they often post about last minute cancellations on their Instagram if you're ever looking for a last minute appointment.

I showed her multiple photographs from different angles and said I wanted it to be grazing my shoulders and longer in the front. I got the complete opposite. Not only is it shorter in the front face pieces it's also an inch shorter overall than what I wanted. One side has way more layers than the other because she decided to make up the most crooked part when she was cutting and now it's completely uneven all over. The only reason I am giving more than one star is because the salon itself was nice and it was a pleasant atmosphere. However, the mirrors were angled towards the ceiling and I couldn't even see myself in it so I was getting my hair cut without being able to even see what she was doing. I went home from my hair cut and cried for an hour while trying to style it to my liking with no avail. I can't even look at myself in the mirror because I hate my hair so much.
